View Full Details of Vida CourtMy wife moved into a new home early this year. The team have got to know her really well, and work hard to care for her and support her, especially when she has difficult days/nights. The night teams seem to provide the same level of care and support which is fairly unique.
Every aspect of my wife’s care and well-being is considered, and actioned with care, professionalism, friendliness and dare I say it, with love! As the husband of a ‘service user’ I have total confidence that my wife is in very capable hands at Vida Court.
My wife moved into Vida Court in July 2023. Since that time she has been extremely well cared for. I no longer have to worry about her. My wife has told me the care she receives is second to none and often mentions that the staff are very caring and kind to her. She accepts that Vida Court is now her home. She does not participate in the activities much but there always seems plenty of choice. The home is pet friendly and I always take our dog to see her which she enjoys. My wife likes the specialised bath and feels very safe in it. She has her hair and feet done on a regular basis and the staff do her nails. She is also very fond of the jelly babies in the sweet shop! Any minor concerns I have raised with the staff have been listened to and acted upon. They are all happy to discuss any health and well-being issues with me. I am kept well informed of any developments and the staff return phone calls. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care they provide.
My husband first came to Vida Court for respite. On his third visit, he became a permanent resident just over a year ago. The care is exceptional, without a doubt. My husband relies on his carers for all his needs 24/7. The staff are all experienced and caring. Even though the rotas are sometimes stretched, the staff have the time to talk to my husband and myself. I always feel welcome when I visit, approximately three times a week. We usually go down to the coffee lounge where the receptionists always offer drinks and confectionery from the sweet shop. I encourage my husband to take part in the activities wherever possible and I am welcome to join in. My husband's health has stabilised since living in Vida Court. The resident nursing staff are efficient and on the ball with any health issues. There seems to be a permanent cleaner on his floor. The place is spotless and free from odour. The exemplary leadership and enthusiastic staff must surely make Vida stand above the rest.
Five star care from everyone at Vida Court, from reception, domestic staff, but most of all the carers and their direct managers. You are all so caring and supportive to us, especially my dad, who is so settled and happy, the smile on his face when we see him speaks volumes. He is always well turned out, his room is always spotlessly clean and he talks fondly about his carers. A massive thank you to all at Vida Court, especially Carthick House. You are truly amazing people.
Vida Court staff consistently deliver the highest quality care to my father. The staff are kind and responsive and treat all the residents with care and respect. I work in this industry and have worked with many specialist dementia care units, and it is my belief that the values and philosophies that Vida promotes, including staff welfare, are the best in the country.
It is reassuring to have found for my wife the ideal nursing home that is comfortable and not too clinical, an environment that she can call ‘home’. The location is excellent and the staff exemplary as they are both approachable and professional. Staff take time to get to know not only personal needs of a resident, but their individual character and personality. Family meetings are regular and feedback from relatives is always listened to and responded to positively and acted upon. I would recommend the home to others without hesitation.
A very dear friend has dementia and going into care was a last resort, but after being assessed by a member of staff it was agreed for my friend to go into Vida Court, on the day of moving in my friend was made to feel like she had a home. She is cared for, warm, well-fed and stimulated. It seems that most days there are activities and my friend is encouraged to participate. I have turned up to visit and found her singing, playing games and taking part in a quiz. In Harrison House where she resides they have a welfare lady who gets the residents involved in activities within the house. Family and friends can visit or ring anytime, day or night, I have always been made to feel welcome and if I’ve had any concerns or questions the staff have been open and honest.
My mum has Alzheimer’s so can be sometimes angry or fearful of new surroundings, the staff at Vida Court were amazing in helping her settle in. We visited a number of times before she went for a week of respite care. Although she was still unsettled when arriving it helped the family knowing the place and who would be taking care of her. We received regular updates during the week too, to help alleviate any of our apprehension on her first stay. Thanks to all the staff for looking after my mum and giving my sister the break she needed. Excellent care home, that doesn’t feel like a care home!
It is an absolute joy to see the change in my wife since moving to Vida Court from her previous care home. She is calmer and seems to be happy and content is eating well and has gained weight. The staff are pleasant and caring and seem to know instinctively the needs of the residents. Nothing is too much trouble. It is amazing what is offered to the residents in terms of well-being, entertainment, food and care. It is like a 5* hotel. The level of staff training, professionalism and compassion is second to none.
This is my first experience of my husband living in a care home and I am so happy that he has settled straight away into Vida Court. All the staff without exception are kind and caring to both of us as it is a big leap when someone moves into permanent care. I pop in to visit at various times and am always made to feel welcome even it if overlaps with a meal time. Although he hasn’t been here a long time the staff are getting to know his quirks and sense of humour. We often walk around the garden and sit there for a coffee. He hasn’t got very involved with activities but I can see there are plenty of games etc and some other very nice group activities available. The food is amazing and home made. Just knowing he is safe and very well cared for has made such a difference.
A lovely place, staff are very nice indeed. I was very well looked after and got my husband on the right track to recovery. Would recommend Vida Court Care Home to anyone.
My mum moved into Grantham House in November 2022 - from the moment she arrived she absolutely loved it. She was overjoyed to see her room and realised that she finally had a home as she had been passed around different hospitals for eighteen months prior to this. The staff could not have been more helpful - we brought some of my mum's furniture, ornaments, books etc. which helped to make this a really personal space. The care my mum received was awesome - the staff knew who she was, what made her happy and they all strove to give her this on a daily basis - great food, frequent strong coffee, painting with her, telling her jokes and making her laugh - she loved the singing group and the social events. Her personal care was excellent - she was always clean, could get a bubble bath when she wanted one. Her room, bedding and clothes were all clean all the time. I was worried about my mum going into care - I didn't need to be because she was at Vida Court Care Home. Thank you all!
Mum was moved to Vida Court just before Christmas following seven months in a previous dementia care home who told us they could no longer cater for mum's needs. We were a little apprehensive about how mum would settle in Vida Court as we had a very negative experience with her previous home. We needn't have worried. The welcome and care she has received is second to none. The staff, from reception, housekeeping, catering, maintenance, well-being, management, nurses and carers are wonderful. She has been treated with kindness, caring, dignity and respect. She is well-fed, clean, well-presented, happy and calmer and less agitated. It's apparent that the staff are experts in their field, and nothing seems to faze them. We trust the Vida team implicitly with mum's care. It has been such a relief to the family that we are now able to spend quality time with mum rather than having to spend time checking that her basic needs have been attended to as with her previous placement.
Truly an exceptional place, people and environment. Hard pushed to find such caring people devoted to making people's lives happy and healthy. Great company with a real focus on drawing New boundaries of health care for the elderly.
Everything about the care provided surpassed our expectations. My husband’s uncle was resident for around a year, having had a prolonged period of repeat hospitalisations, following a heartbreaking bereavement. The decision to bring him up North, to be closer to us, was not undertaken lightly and finding care proved to be an enormous challenge. His initial placement (in a home rated ‘Good’), was very disappointing and failed to meet our relative’s needs physically or emotionally. He was transferred to Vida Court when space became available (the policy, admirably, being to secure staff before residents). It was clear from the outset that here was real care, expertise, kindness and the genuine desire to get to know his exact needs and preferences; the manager, was very involved. The team are wonderful - there are enough people to ensure safe, responsive and personalised care. Communication has been excellent and meant that we could be present at the end, which was handled with love.
My grandad has the most fantastic team of people caring for him. They provide him with dignity and care. Nothing is too much trouble. We enjoy spending time in the home as it feels like a home from home.
Concentrating exclusively on care for residents with dementia, this home is a breath of fresh air. My husband is treated with kindness, compassion and professional management so vital for the welfare of people with dementia and provided by every member of staff he has contact with, from carers to receptionists, handyman and cleaners. In just seven weeks, his level of agitation and distress has reduced hugely, he is always clean, he enjoys playing ball with his carers and practising his physiotherapy exercises with them, and when I come to take him out or to join him for lunch, we are once again more man and wife than patient with carer. I have noticed how settled other residents in his house are, and how friendly and chatty the carers are with them and indeed with me and fellow relatives/friends. This experience follows one in another lovely home which simply did not have the expertise to cope with dementia - including hallucinations, delusions and agitation - that Vida have.
My mum has lived in Mossman House at Vida Court since December 2021. The care she receives from the staff team, is fantastic. They are consistently amazing, delivering high standards of care and support, with a great ethos and a true person-centred approach. It took a long time to find what I felt was a good home for Mum and finding Vida was the perfect solution.
My uncle has been at Vida Court for 6 months. We were unable to get him into Vida Court when he was first discharged from the hospital and his experience in another home, highly rated and in so many ways doing their best, was increasingly unsatisfactory and upsetting. The transfer to, and experience at, Vida Court has been a wonderful and uplifting contrast. Yes, there have been challenges in his care, of course, but Vida Court has tackled everything so well that it has been easy to give them a five-star rating. We have never been given cause to wonder if there might be somewhere better to meet his needs. Vida Court gives us peace of mind through their evident care and humanity, real knowledge of the resident and collaboration with us.
