View Full Details of St Mary's Lodge Care HomeMy dad has been at St Mary's Lodge for 4 months now. He has had a tough 4 years, previously staying at 3 different specialist care homes. Finally, after being able to move him into St Mary's, the difference in just 2 weeks was just incredible. It was as though his lights had been switched on. St Mary's Lodge is the most beautifully decorated home, with the nicest of atmosphere, it is always immaculate, it doesn't smell, and Dad always looks smart, with his clothes washed and looked after. Dad is on blended foods and they always make sure he gets the nutrition he needs. The management and all the staff have gone above and beyond to cater for all of Dad's needs, whether he is in the lounge or in his bedroom, Dad is always been watched. We can't thank everyone enough for finally making such a difference in our experience visiting Dad. So very happy Dad is finally somewhere he deserves to be.
My grandma came into the home several months ago. It was really tough for her to transition to being in the home but with the expert guidance of the managers and day staff that I spoke to so regularly, she started to refer to them as her friends. She was welcomed by all the staff and wasn't someone to be fooled, but she trusted them and made special bonds with many of the staff too. She received the much-needed hugs, kind words and practical support she needed with dignity, professionalism with personal delivery. The home itself is so clean and comfortable and collective meal times with 3 courses and my grandma's favourites often popping on the menus meant so much. At such a difficult time, I personally could not recommend the home and staff highly enough. Knowing your favourite person is being looked after so well when you can't be there all the time is priceless. Thank you all.
My mother had an all too short stay at the Lodge between the end of July and the beginning of November 2024. She was resistant and difficult on admission but the care and patience of the managers and all the staff over the days and weeks led to my mother settling and smiling again. She was confused and her moods was unstable as well as falling frequently but I cannot fault the care shown, the right level of encouragement, personal, respectful, and at the end dedicated to ensuring the best possible ending for her. My family and I will be always grateful. In terms of the physical surroundings, food, etc the Lodge had all that was needed for mum, good quality and I appreciated the open invitation to stay for food with my mum. Thank you to management and your team of brilliant caring staff.
We brought Mum to this care home as a most vocal, unwilling guest in August this year. The managers were friendly and courteous to Mum and treated her with incredible insight, dignity and empathy. At no time was she allowed to feel vulnerable or alone. They respected her wishes and basically earned her approval. They could not have done this without their amazing team of carers. They each played their own special role in making Mum feel loved and appreciated to the point that Mum was nearly/really?! loving them as much as us! Mum after only a week or so thought of the home as her home. When we took her out she sailed back in to be greeted by the staff as friends. If you look at the other residents you can see how well they are treated and how happy they are. The staff made my mum's last few months enjoyable and made this last chapter one we will always remember with affection and gratitude. I cannot praise the staff enough. Thank you.
Dad is coming up to his 3rd year here and I wouldn’t have him anywhere else! All the staff are so wonderful with him, they treat and respect him as if he were their own father, and they genuinely love him. I know that when I’m not there (as I live up in Durham) I can rest easy knowing that they take the greatest care of him. I take my hat off to all of you as it’s not an easy job keeping everyone safe and happy.
Dad recently had a stroke whilst in St Mary's Lodge. Thanks to the recognition and quick actions of the staff they helped Dad secure the treatment he needed within the golden hour, and their excellent, detailed and up-to-date care plan enabled the hospital to apply the correct treatment. The attention and care that Dad receives are amazing and he is treated like one of the family. I know Dad is in good, safe hands and I have no worries about him receiving specified, personal care from an excellent dedicated team.
I can no longer live at home so I now live here at St Mary's Lodge. It is a lovely place and I like living here as I feel safe. Everybody here is very nice and I have made friends, as well reconnecting with an old friend who also lives here.
I visit my friend as often as I can and I’m always welcomed with warm hearts and professional staff. There is no such thing as too much trouble in the home, my friend is cared for exceptionally well and they are very happy here. The care is excellent, the home is excellent, manager is always supportive with any questions I may have. I would 100% recommend this home to anyone without a doubt.
St Mary's Lodge have been our saviour since Mum needed 24 hour care, moving in January 2023. The moment we walked in, Mum felt at ease and it felt like a home not an institution. The staff have gone up and beyond to help Mum manage her fears and emotions driven by the dementia. One of the deciding factors to choosing the Lodge was the focus on Mum not loosing her independence, within reason, and this remains evident week in and week out. The entire team have consistently shown exceptional care and empathy and tried many ways to meet Mum's ever changing needs, physically and most importantly, mentally and emotionally. In addition, the team have been so supportive to me, knowing how incredibly difficult it has been adjusting to the challenges dementia creates. I will be always indebted to the manager and her marvellous team and have no hesitation in recommending St Mary's Lodge.
After many years of worrying about my mother's ability to take care of herself at home, we searched for a long time to find a care home in which Mum would be happy and safe, and that's just what we found at St Mary's Anlaby. The management team at the home and nursing staff are amazing, businesses in the care sector talk about caring, but these people really do, from the high standard of the home and facilities to the food, and most of all, the care of the residents. It's a great feeling after so many years of worry, we are able to go to sleep in the evening knowing Mum is safe and in a place she loves with people who care greatly for her welfare and every need. Thank you, St Mary's, and especially the staff.
On the 11th of February 2023, we celebrated my wife's 90th birthday at St Mary's Lodge. The event was attended by eighteen members of my wife's family, who were delighted at the special arrangements that had been made by the carers and staff; the decoration in the lounge and dining area was wonderful and highlighted my wife's 90 years. The food and drink provided were excellent, and the entire event was a very happy and successful occasion. As usual, the staff and carers made the day so special with their care and attention. Thank you.
A lovely home, with caring and friendly staff. My friend was very happy at St Mary’s Lodge, it’s like a hotel rather than a care home. It has a calm and lovely atmosphere. The staff are excellent and so patient.
My mum's birthday was this month, and we wanted to do something special as it was the first year without my dad. The staff went over and beyond for our family. They decorated the room with banners and balloons and made it look fabulous. Brought a tear to our eyes. They are an absolute credit. Such lovely, friendly staff and Mum loves them all.
The St Mary's team have helped the transition of my mother into the home, providing constant support and care. The staff are always friendly and attentive. When forced with your loved one having to be moved into a care home, emotions run high; the St Mary's team have provided support, always with a smile on their face. My mother is settled and feels at home.
Since moving to St Mary’s Lodge in February this year, my mum's life has changed completely. She suffers from dementia and spent all her time at home alone except for home care visits as she no longer recognised her husband. She didn’t eat and was incontinent. Mum now enjoys being amongst the other residents and is chatty and very happy. The care she receives has helped her develop routines so that she is no longer incontinent, and she is so much more confident and independent with everything she does. Mum eats really well now and thoroughly enjoys being part of the lovely community in the home. The staff are welcoming, understanding and patient, and Mum tells me every day how good they are to her. Having Mum here has made such a difference to her and myself and my family, as we know that she is safe, happy, close by and cared for.
I was very pleased that my aunt got to spend her final days with the care team at St Mary’s Lodge; they treated her with dignity, care and compassion. They extended their care to my family who sat next to her bedside on her final days and hours; the love and professionalism they showed will never be forgotten. Thank you to each and every one at St Mary’s Lodge. I won’t forget what you have done.
My father stayed at St Mary's for the first time 2-weeks ago. From the answering of queries at the beginning through to the end of his stay, the service was faultless. The manager could not be more helpful. The facilities are wonderful, and the attention to detail, even for complex care needs, was just so high. Choosing to send someone into a care facility is a difficult decision to make, but St Mary's and the staff made it as easy as it could possibly be.
My friend has recently just moved in, all the staff have made him feel so welcome from the minute he moved in. He has expressed that he loves it here and is far better from where he moved from. The food is very good and has a lot of different options to offer. He is now smiling again and wants to join in with activities and getting to know others, which is a bonus for everyone that knows him.

St Mary's Lodge has beautiful, well laid out, fully equipped rooms, lovely, caring, efficient staff. Very organised. Lovely dining area providing great meeting area, and best of it, our relative is very happy and settled there.
