View Full Details of Canterbury HouseMy 97 year old mother to Canterbury House six months ago, initially on respite after a hospital visit. Despite being incredibly anxious initially mother has settled well and is very proud of her room. She partakes of many of the activities arrange and particularly enjoys games and knit and natter group. She enjoys the food and eats well. Mum recently told me that she finds all the care staff are good to her and treat her well. As a family, we are pleased with the way mum has settled in and is flourishing.
My mother moved into Canterbury House last year and this was her first Christmas here. I live abroad and was unable to get home but was delighted to say she had a wonderful time. There were many activities laid on and Mum was never on her own and felt part of a big family. The home always makes a fuss of the residents when it is their birthdays, with gift and cake and as Mum's Birthday is in December, she had a double happy time. Thank you to everyone for their wonderful care.
The staff as usual were exemplary. The home was clean and inviting. I received a very warm welcome plus the offer of a drink almost immediately. All the residents looks happy and well care for and the atmosphere in the home was calm and inviting.
Family and friends are impressed with the home and facilities. The staff are consistently welcoming, helpful, polite, friendly and genuinely caring. The staff know your name and it feels homely and relaxed.
This is a good care home however there are issues with staff shortages affecting the wait for personal care and the lack of a full time chef. Mum doesn't particularly like the food however I do understand that most residents prefer traditional meals. The carers are wonderful. However relatively well residents, like my mother, are often pushed to be bottom of the list for showers and washes as staff are very busy. Mum loves all the staff and spends most of her time with them in preference to the other residents.
I have to say that Canterbury House feels like my mum's home now. I never worry about her after I have left. I cannot comment on the food but I know there have been problems with chefs. I think the menu needs to be basic food that older people like even if it doesn't sound fancy - casserole, roasts, nice homemade pies, and bread and butter pudding, apple crumble but made with good quality ingredients so that they have flavour and nutrition. Also I would like more bingo and quizzes, there is a lot of craft which my mum has never done. Also it would be nice if each say Wednesday a different person had a nice soak in the bath which is something they could look forward to. My mum is very particular and I think they are very patient with her. The lounge carpet could be cleaned more regularly perhaps overnight when they have left to go to bed. The air conditioning was rarely on during the summer and I had to buy a fan for my mum.
My mum has been in Canterbury House Care Home for 10 months now, and after her getting adjusted to being looked after, which was difficult as she'd been self sufficient before going in there, the care, support, facilities and the staff are excellent and go the extra mile for supporting mum. Can't recommend this home enough.
My husband had 2 weeks respite care at Canterbury House. I felt very confident in the staff's ability to look after him and manage his care, the assessment was very thorough. The environment was very clean and food was good. There were plenty of activities, but it always felt like a calm environment when I visited. Overall, I have been very happy that my husband has had a good experience for his first time in a residential care setting. Thank you!
Always a worry organising respite breaks for my wife and the worry about the care she would receive. No problems here, a wonderful, bright and happy environment, caring, professional staff. She couldn't be in better hands. A big thank you to everyone involved.
Sadly I have lost both my parents now this year, my Father in May and my Mother more recently in November. I must write to thank all the staff and management at the Canterbury House Care Home for all the love, affection, care and attention that they always gave to my Mum and Dad since they were residents in October 2021 right up to the time they passed away. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff, they were always very professional and so helpful especially when my Mother was receiving her dementia end-of-life care towards the end. I congratulate all the 'team' and really appreciate all that they did for my parents during their stay.
I have found this home and staff to be kind, respectful and caring, not only to residents but to visitors also.
My mother is in Canterbury House for respite care with a view to permanent residency in due course. So far, I am thrilled with the level of care, understanding and attention from the staff. Canterbury House is exceptionally clean with beautifully designed rooms and common areas. Mother has settled in well, just after six days asking, a longer stay is possible. I am encouraging her to join in with activities that are varied and well thought out. Everything is delightful!
From the moment I arrived, which was 8 days ago, I seem to fit in instantly. From that moment, I felt most welcome. Since then, my care was faultess. Nothing seems to be any trouble at all to the staff. I am well informed of any activities that are going on. I felt like I was part of the family straightaway. In fact, I am here for 2 weeks and enjoying it so much so far that I have already asked my daughter if I could stay another week, which has been agreed.
From the song popularised by Frank Sinatra 'New York, New York'. So good they named it twice - Canterbury House. Canterbury House.
The premises is always clean and tidy. All the staff are welcoming and helpful. Those I know well greet me by name. Any issue raised is dealt with promptly and efficiently. The office staff are very helpful with recommendations and suggestions e.g. recently a mobile dentist. Residents are cared for with thoughtfulness.
Such a happy and positive environment. Dad is so settled as a resident. There is so much for the people staying at Canterbury House to do. Wonderful black tie evening, singing and dancing this month. The food is amazing. The rooms are beautiful and the staff are so caring. We feel Dad is cared for in the way he needs to meet all his needs.
Amazing staff and care home. My 97-year-old mum has been living at Canterbury House Care Home for ten months and the care she has received has been really great. She can be a difficult lady and is very feisty but the staff all love her. She was quite ill when she went to live at Canterbury House but she looks great now. The staff are always happy and cheerful and it makes a bright and relaxed environment. They do whatever they can to make her happy and 99% of the time...it works, an achievement in itself. The facilities there are excellent, compared to other care homes in the area. The management at the home are lovely, although I can't mention names, they know who they are! Thank you everybody at Canterbury House, Faversham.
This is my fourth visit to Canterbury House Care Home. Each time I've been impressed by the welcoming environment, caring staff and very clean. My stepmother is very happy here and makes full use of the afternoon activities.
Staff are very helpful and friendly. Activities are really good.
After a short stay, I decided that after such care I could not go home and struggle alone and so decided to be permanent. I am impressed by all aspects - care, cleanliness, food etc.
