View Full Details of Barchester Falmouth Court Care HomeI have been a permanent resident in this home for over one year and am very happy with the care that I receive. I don't think I would find anywhere better. I would recommend to anyone thinking of making Barchester Falmouth Court Care Home their home that they spend a couple of weeks in respite care first so that they know what to expect. Unfortunately, the advertising gives a somewhat exaggerated impression of the home which can lead to newcomers feeling unnecessarily disappointed and frustrated.
This has been a good, positive experience. Food excellent but to eat my last meal of the day at 5pm is difficult. The activities were interesting and varied and well taken up. The worst thing were your pillows. There were three provided, the size of sofa cushions! If everyone used those the NHS would have unlimited neck problems. I asked for alternatives, none were available. The staff were polite and willing.
I enjoyed my respite, two-week stay at Barchester Falmouth Court Care Home very much. It is a beautiful home, clean and tastefully decorated with lovely garden. The staff were all wonderful, caring, efficient and kind. They create a very happy atmosphere. I hope to return.
This is a well-designed, relatively new care home with lovely, modern décor and which seems to successfully meet the broad requirements of the elderly cohort. It was unfortunate that after two face-to-face meetings with the management team, the requirement for a double bed couldn't be achieved and as this wasn't made apparent until arrival, there was no real option other than to proceed. Nevertheless, the front of house and care staff did all they could to meet Mum's other requirements, including a trip out to her favourite hotel for cream teas. Our mum certainly enjoyed herself and the staff went out of their way to ensure she felt welcome and to smoothly integrate her for the two weeks of respite care. There was a good range of activities that are focused on the broad range of clients and as the residents were consistently very friendly and content, this was definitely a good sign of an outwardly well-run and happy care home.
My respite stay was all that I had hoped it would be - comfortable, efficient with good staff and food. The programme of activities was excellent.
My mother's experience at Barchester Falmouth Court Care Home was brilliant. The staff provided warm, genuine care. Nothing was too much trouble. Their personalities and level of care lifted my mum's spirits and fully supported any needs she had. The food was excellent, elegant dining room. Wine always offered. The home felt like a lovely hotel rather than a nursing home. Reflected by happy residents, great atmosphere. Activities on a daily basis. As a relative, I could visit anytime, sometimes eat with Mum, made it feel as if it was her home. Lovely, spacious, clean room. She was there for respite care but would certainly not hesitate to return, maybe permanently.
I visit Falmouth Court Care Home on a regular basis it’s always very clean and beautifully kept. The home services advisor is always very welcoming when he’s there and are other members of the team. Each room is very well-furnished.
We arranged for respite care for my father-in-law from 20/12/2023 to 12/01/2024. He decided he would like to extend his stay and become permanent. The management and staff have been fantastic with him, his mobility has increased, his appetite and also his nutrition and hydration and his interaction with people.
Mum had recently had a hospital stay and I had come over from Spain for 2 weeks to look after her. However, I needed to return for 2 weeks for work. She needed a placement with 24-hour care and support and Falmouth Court was suggested to me as a respite option. From the initial telephone conversation, the show around and the home visit I knew Falmouth Court would be able to offer her and me the exact respite service we required. The home is stunning. Beautifully stylish with large, warm and comfortable rooms. The communal areas were calm, with appropriate music just audible in the background. The managers and staff were polite, kind, caring, efficient and knowledgeable. Mum loved the food which was plentiful and varied and catered for all tastes and dietary needs. She particularly loved the cakes. I am now considering moving back to the U.K. for the longer term to look after Mum and hope she can stay again for a further respite stay to allow me to put this into motion.
Had a lovely festive visit and the home was beautiful. Lots of festive activities taking place too. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We are happy to see everyone is comfortable and well looked after.
Falmouth Court is a wonderful care facility with excellent, friendly staff. It is fresh, light and well-placed in Falmouth. Mum is delighted to be here and loves all the activities that are available.
The Falmouth Court team have been outstanding and a huge relief to my mum and her family during the potential stressful transition from independent living in Edinburgh. My mum repeatedly points out how friendly, caring, engaged and fun the carers, cleaners and managerial staff all are without exception. Attempts to personalise connection have been terrific with huge moves to reach out to my mother's (and others') interests in art, but also the willingness of French carers to enable her to practice the language she loves. The medical team response and ability to connect with the full spectrum of external agencies has been impressive. Constant review and adaption to evolving needs are very much appreciated by our family. Thanks so much.
I visited Barchester Falmouth Court Care Home last week, I am a retired man of eighty years and never been to a care home before. My aunt is a resident and she asked me to visit as she was very happy there. I am very pleased to say that I was so impressed not only with the beautiful home but also the facilities and the staff and management that I met. I honestly thought that I was in a five-star hotel as all the rooms and recreation rooms and the gardens that I saw are simply stunning. In the reception area, they provided a very nice arts and crafts recreation and there were eight residents enjoying the recreation and laughing and talking amongst themselves. All the staff and management I met were very welcoming and really convinced me that I was not alone in thinking that care homes are certainly not of the impression that I had before coming here, I am now considering that in the future I would seriously think of moving into this type of care home. Well done to all the staff and management.
Overall Mum was happy. Lack of communication from management to care staff caused issues of basic care needs initially not met. The manager visited Mum at home and carried out pre-assessment. Due to dementia and aged 99, it was discussed and documented that Mum needed prompting with everything to meet her care needs initiating nothing for herself. It was agreed Mum was suitable for residential care. On day 3, I phoned at 12 midday to find her in bed, still in pyjamas and not had breakfast. On discussion with the manager it would appear Mum wanted “to stay in bed a little longer” when asked but had then been left. Put to bed 9.30pm the night before. Toileted only once at 4.30 am -very wet, (left 7hrs) despite pre-assessment stating toileting required at 1.30 and 4.30, still in bed 12 midday (left further 7 hours) not only not meeting her basic care needs but risking Mum's skin integrity, hydration and nutritional needs. Rectified by communication improvement and daily call from the manager.
Our Mother has been a resident of Falmouth Court since April and we have been delighted with the facilities but more importantly, the level of care she has received from the staff, which is of the highest quality.
Excellent with advising, when this is something new to me and my family. Very professional yet personal service. Very clean and tidy at all times. Mum absolutely loves coming here and thinks all the staff are her best friends!
A beautiful care home with wonderful staff, offering excellent facilities and care. Rooms have a home-from-home feel with the facilities of a hotel. The home is kept immaculately and residents are so well cared for in a beautiful environment. We couldn't ask for more.
Had a two-week respite stay which was excellent. Every member of staff made me feel welcome.
All the staff and management were very helpful and Mum had a very enjoyable stay. Excellent care home.
My mother spent ten weeks at Falmouth Court Care Home recovering from a broken arm as she has mild dementia. She can be a difficult person sometimes and she demonstrated this during her first month. However, the staff persisted and after a month she began to settle in. We found the staff to be caring, friendly and professional at all times. There's no doubt a stay at Falmouth Court is expensive but the care she received was excellent.
