After a hip replacement in June 2023, my mum started with vascular dementia. It was full on (and not slow). In October 2024 we decided to have full time care and placed her in The Rivers, The Croft, Knottingley. My mum passed away on 06.02.2025. All the seniors and carers were absolutely amazing. The care and attention and love, may I add, that they showed my mum was phenomenal. This pace really is home from home. We got close to the people who looked after Mum. Truly like family at the end of Mum's journey. Thank you all so very much.
We couldn't be happier with how well my grandma is cared for by the team. They're so very caring and supportive, not just of my grandma, but with us as a family also. It was a difficult and upsetting situation how my grandma ending up needing care. The support and reassurance the team gave us was so greatly appreciated. And 3 months in, the proof is in the pudding. My grandma is in better health and spirit than I've known her for a long time. THANK YOU!
I have found nothing but respect, professionalism, friendliness, humour and support from all the staff (without exception) to my sister and myself as a visitor. It's lovely to see her happy and well and engaging with so many, although she does like chatting to the staff. The activities, especially pet therapy, are great. It's also nice to have a chat with the resident dogs who we are slowly making friends with. Facilities are kept wonderfully clean and nothing appears to be too much trouble whilst carrying out an exceptionally demanding job.
Collected my dad Christmas Day, notice provided he was going out Christmas Day. One shoe on wrong foot other shoe missing. Pooh in his sock and T-shirt. Nappy full wee. Not shaved or teeth brushed. Pooh crusted on his fingernails. This is not the first time he has been found in this mess.
The room was personalised by us as a family before Dad moved in and we were supported to bring in furniture and pictures which would replicate the home he was having to leave. We were welcomed and involved in his care plans and the move from home to care home went so much better than expected. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and did all they could to make Dad feel safe and welcome. The move was a pleasure and relief to us all as a family, staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.
I wanted to share my experience with the care home where my dad now resides. Since his recent move, the staff have truly exceeded all expectations in making his room feel like a home and welcoming him with open arms. The communication with the staff has been exceptional, and as a result, my dad has settled in seamlessly. Every member of the staff is not only friendly and helpful but also exudes genuine empathy and dedication to ensuring the well-being and happiness of all residents. It's heartwarming to see the level of care and compassion that they provide on a daily basis.
Mum recently spent two weeks in respite care at The Rivers following a hospital stay. The staff were excellent, all extremely friendly and patient with Mum. During her stay her appetite improved and we saw her gain confidence when using a walker to help her get around.
Excellent staff always very friendly go out of their way to help you. They are absolutely brilliant with my dad and put my mind at ease that he is being cared for with such compassion. Would highly recommend The Rivers if anyone ever needed it.
This is a great home, all staff very helpful and caring. Mum is happy and that is what counts.
As a family, we are very happy with the care Mum receives at The Rivers. Mum was very ill when she first came here and her health both mentally and physically has improved so much. Every member of staff is caring and professional. We couldn't wish for anything better.
I can't thank everyone enough who works at The Rivers each and every one of you goes above and beyond for my mum and other residents, I continue to have 100% peace of mind my mum gets all the care support she requires, You are all angels I thank you all from the bottom of my heart, the home is beautiful and spotless, you are always met with a smile and I go home feeling better on myself too, it means so much to me. Thank you so much
My dad recently spent 5 weeks at The Rivers and I cannot fault this place at all. Each time I visited I always found it to be spotlessly clean. The staff are all lovely and have always been so kind to my Dad. Would highly recommend this care home
My brother's care is exceptional he has fit in so well and actually enjoys being there well done all carers, all carers are helpful and have time to answer any questions, so glad my sister-in-law chose this brilliant facility.
Elderly mother in full-time care. The home was better than expected. She received excellent care, and at all times was treated with respect and courtesy. The entire staff were excellent, treating all the residents with kindness, with dignity, and caring for their comfort and support. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone. All round excellent career could not have been better cared for or treated.
I was very impressed by the way my father was welcomed into The Rivers recently. All the staff on duty came and welcomed him by name. My early impressions of the home are that it is very clean, and the staff are very friendly. Any request for help has been met quickly and willingly, and my father is being helped to meet and mix with other residents. A good start.
A friend of mine lives at The Rivers, I can honestly say the staff are amazing, the home is clean and everyone seems well looked after. The environment seems really homely and everyone is always so happy when I visit, I always get a warm welcome when I arrive, the only shame is I have been looking for a placement for my mother-in-law and there is a waiting list hopefully this isn’t too long!
I for one can't thank The Rivers enough for all the help and understanding they've shown me while my husband has been in there knowing he's being cared for and well looked after has made me feel so much better. The staff go over and beyond to help as much as they can, nothing but praise for all of them.
My beautiful mam went into The Rivers in October last year, honestly it was the last thing we wanted, but wow, they have been amazing. The staff go above and beyond with not just her care, but also in making her happy. We honestly feel so much calmer knowing she is so looked after and cared for. Thank you x
My dad was in The Rivers Care Home until he sadly passed away recently. I just want to thank all the staff and the manager for the care and respect they showed my father. He was well looked after, safe and cared for, the food was lovely and the whole building was spotlessly clean. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff and comforting to know they spent time with Dad over and above their allotted care duties. A special thanks needs to go to one member of staff, she has shown so much dedication to her job and the patients in her care, it is obvious that she sees her role as a vocation rather than a career and I cannot thank her enough for the encouragement and care she gave my dad but also for her support towards me. Thank you all.
Mum has settled in well. The rooms are well-decorated and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Lots of activities going on throughout the day. The new manager has made a big difference in the care home.
