View Full Details of Chalkwell GrangeMy father spent two weeks at Chalkwell Grange for Respite. It is a really comfortable environment with lovely roomy bedrooms, beautifully set dining room and breakout lounges and cafe. The home is very stylish and the furniture looks lovely in the individual room, however the chair in the room was too low for my father to sit in and he couldn't get himself out of it. I suppose if he was a fully time resident we would be able to bring our own lift and tilt chair for him. A variety of day-to-day activities are well planned and executed by a permanent entertainment member of the team. The care provided is exemplary and the staff could not do enough for my father, so much so he said he got too much attention. All the staff we met came across as genuinely supportive, friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Chalkwell Grange should be the template for all care homes from the care provided, cleanliness, facilities and the management. What more could you want?
The genuine care and affection displayed to my mum, was excellent. She was at Chalkwell Grange for a little over 18 months before sadly passing, and was happy and well cared for throughout, particularly so, over the last few days of her life. The staff are a real asset to the home, and everyone from cleaning team, the kitchen staff through the carers to the home managers were all friendly, approachable, and couldn't do enough.
A happy, comfortable, well run care home to visit. My friend is well looked after and is contented.
Chalkwell Grange proved to be an exemplary choice. The facilities and resident programmes were to the highest standard. The key excellent aspect was the care and affection shown to my mother from all the staff. Would highly, highly recommend.
Since the day Mum moved in just over a year ago, she has been treated with nothing but kindness and dignity. She is settled and appreciates the good food, nice atmosphere and that nothing is too much for the excellent staff. Everyone is approachable and will deal with anything that comes up. Thank you for your never-ending patience.
I looked at a few care homes in Leigh On Sea, and this one stood out for us. My mum who is 90 broke her arm and was unable to care for herself, I needed respite care for 5 weeks while we were on holiday, and luckily for us, they had a room available. This is a care home that cares. Chalkwell Grange is spotlessly clean, my mum said the staff was all amazing. The food was excellent, and things going on all the time if you wish to participate. My lovely mum had no complaints, she was more than happy there. Thank you to all the staff, you did a wonderful job looking after Mum.
I would like to praise everyone at Chalkwell Grange for all they do to take care of my parents. My Mum and Dad have been there for just over a year now and whilst they have found it difficult to adjust to their new way of life, all the staff, on all levels, including the cooks and the cleaners, are kind, thoughtful and have done their utmost to settle them and look after all their needs. Everyone involved will go above and beyond to help wherever possible and they can't do enough for them, although my dear Mum still finds it hard to ask for help! The activity ladies, two members of staff in particular, work very hard to provide daily activities for the residents to join which I know most people enjoy. It gives me great peace of mind to know that they are both safe and being looked after so well and that all their needs, be it medical, personal, and nutritional, are being met very well. I would just like to give a special thank you to all the staff for all they do.
This care home really cares! Staff are coming to work to make a difference and look after residents in a dignified and respectful way. They treat residents just as they would their own relatives. The home is also beautifully furnished to give a feel of luxury and comfort for everyone. The well-being team are always thinking up new ways to help residents enjoy every day and have fun together. The management staff are also exemplary and are so accessible to discuss any needs and requirements. Thank you!
A lovely friendly care home, our beautiful Mum has been living at Chalkwell Grange for over a year now and I always look forward to visiting as the staff are all very welcoming. Her room is always clean and the whole home is clean and the domestic staff work so hard. It’s lovely to be able to visit whenever I want to and take Mum out whenever too. She has quite progressive dementia now but she is always treated with dignity and respect. I am very grateful to the new manager and deputy who are very approachable with an open-door policy.
I have found that all the staff at Chalkwell Grange are professional and dedicated to their jobs. I have seen this first hand with everyone in the team in all the different job roles. Everyone always has a smile on their face and will say hello to you. There is a lovely atmosphere, and always a lot going on. The carer staff are very experienced and happy to talk to you at any time. I know that they are doing the best for my mum. The variety of activities is very good and the morning walks are lovely. When my mum hasn't been well, I know they always keep checking on her to make sure she is ok. Thank you, Chalkwell Grange, it is much appreciated.
My mum has been a resident of Chalkwell Grange since it opened in November 2022. I have been so impressed with the care and respect they show to all the residents. Communication with family is also excellent with monthly meetings for family and friends and monthly reviews for residents which family are actively encouraged to join. Entertainment is provided every day with different activities in the mornings and afternoons and trips out in the minibus are arranged and residents are encouraged to take part. I particularly like that the reception team email out the week's activities so I know what my mum has had the opportunity to do (even if she doesn't always choose to join in). It also helps me plan my visits so that I can join her in some activities or take her out if there is something I know she won't enjoy. The food is excellent and cooked on-site. Staff members are always friendly, approachable, enthusiastic and welcoming. I am happy that Mum is in the best place.
Chalkwell Grange is always a pleasant place to visit. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The home is always clean and tidy. Car parking is normally good but sometimes full. Overall my mother is happy with the home and that’s what matters.
Dad went into Chalkwell Grange for 2 weeks of respite care after a series of falls led to a 12-day stay in hospital. He is very pleased with the home. He loved the luxurious and elegant feel of the place. The staff was lovely and helpful, and whilst there, Dad benefited from visits to the chiropodist and barber.
My partner was a resident at Chalkwell Grange. He was quite frail at that time and quite often fell. From the very start he was made to feel welcome. The ethos is excellent and runs through all the staff. I visited on a daily basis at varied times of the day and, therefore, saw the constant level of loving care that extended to all residents, even those who could be a little negative! On receiving a diagnosis of Parkinson's levels were increased. At one point, their actions saved his life. One of the CLA's became my rock, looking out for me as well as my partner, ensuring that all his needs and mine were met, I cannot speak more highly of this facility. Excellent entertainment is provided every day, the food is good and cooked on site. If there was something else that a resident would prefer to have, they make it for them. Every member of staff was truly fantastic.
Thank you very much Chalkwell Grange for all the love and care you are providing for my father. He was, at first, skeptical and wanting to be home, but as the days went on he felt very comfortable and said all his needs were being met. A big thank you to all the staff and caretakers. Wow. They each have their own personalities and have all really made my dad feel as if he is at home. They have gone above and beyond taking loving care of my dad. It brings me a sense of peace knowing he is under their care. I attended a residents' family meeting and really felt heard. Everyone from the care staff, the wellness team, activities, the laundry, the cooks, the front desk, the cleaners, the CLA's - they are all excellent. One staff member even brought a special pillow for my dad who was falling to one side to keep him upright. A big thank you to all there.
My dad originally went into Chalkwell Grange for respite, but after two weeks, he said I think I will stay here. The rooms are so lovely. The food is so good, there is always something going one, we attended a lovely BBQ. The most important thing is the staff, they are all so friendly and work so hard. I truly think we are all family now.
Outstanding experience to date. Due to care, routine and knowledge of all staff, I believe my mother to be improving physically and mentally after a massive stroke. All friends and family agree her confidence has grown, her personality has/is returning and her ability to adapt to her disability has greatly improved. From being completely blind and deaf on her affected side, this week (after a medical assessment by an optician) it has been confirmed that her eyesight is legal to pass for driving. Only achieved by love and support. Activities that are done daily have improved and helped the healing of her brain (quizzes, carols, practicals, reading etc.). Highly recommend.
In February of this year my mum moved into the Dementia care unit with Palliative care at Chalkwell Grange owned by Sanders Senior Living. After around 4/6 weeks they decided Mum needed more one to one care. The family agreed and Mum paid an extra £4500 for one to one care costs on top of the £6000 she was already paying. Chalkwell Grange have now decided that even though Mum is in their dementia care unit and as a family we thought Mum would be spending her final days with them (as they have a palliative care unit) Mum has been asked to leave because they cannot provide the care Mum needs. Anyone that has experienced dementia knows things don’t get better. We were therefore shocked that a company that has been trading for years and supposedly respected did not realise this when they first accepted Mum 6 months ago. We therefore have found a new care home and have to put our dear mum through the trauma of moving this Friday. If you decide to put a family member here proceed with caution.
Mum moved into Chalkwell Grange in February 2023. Initially, we were very happy with the care home, the Manager and the staff, who were amazing. They carried out a pre-assessment with Mum and were able to accept her into their Dementia suit. At this time we were advised that this would be her long-term home. In June the management team changed, along with the parameters of the home. If you are looking for a long-term dementia care home for your family member I would strongly recommend you look for a home that is able to give you the reassurance that your relative is able to be supported during the full dementia journey as unfortunately, this is not the case at Chalkwell Grange.
I could not be happy for my mother. Every member of staff has been wonderful, caring for her, there is nothing they won't do for her.
