View Full Details of Barchester Oaklands Care HomeImagine and the emotional state of a husband of 53 years bringing his Alzheimer's wife to a care home! I was reassured, calmed right by the manager's visit to our home to assess the care needed, met at the home by an engaging nurse and carer. I helped my wife eat her first meal there. Oaklands has a warm, caring and safe atmosphere. The carers are friendly and efficient, that's what counts for your loved one. I visit every day, to suit me and my wide and have begun a new relationship
My husband is very comfortable, clean, well-fed and chatted to. It has taken years of worry off my shoulders.
I visited, recently, a friend at Barchester Oaklands Care Home. I found there to be a friendly, warm and happy atmosphere. All the staff know their job. They are very helpful to the residents and visitors. The nurses and the care staff in the Elms community are amazing. Well done.
Very helpful. A very difficult time for the family, leaving a relative in full-time care is awful and the staff here have been supportive and the whole team have been really helpful.
My dad has recently arrived at this care home and our family cannot fault the care he is receiving. All of the staff - nurses, carers, maintenance, cleaners - everyone has been so friendly and attentive. Dad is in a spacious and well-maintained room and we have been encouraged to bring things in from home to make it feel like his space. The staff have made a real effort to get to know us, as a family, and also learn about Dad's interests and history so that they can talk to him about those things. The food options are great and have been tailored to Dad's own requirements and preferences - he certainly never goes hungry! The care, attention, respect and empathy he and us, as a family, have received has been fabulous. Dad is comfortable, happy and settled. We couldn't ask for more.
Visit to see Mum, very relaxed. Mum watching TV, she was interactive during the visit with conversations talking about TV Programmes. Mum looked well.
Mum has been here since February and I am very pleased with her care. The staff are lovely and the rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated. The food is good and Mum enjoys the variety. We are also very happy with the activities here. We have enjoyed pudding clubs, a classic car show and look forward to this weekend's fete. This care home is a vast improvement from the previous home my mum was in. Excellent.
Despite the obstacles in the road of caring, the Elms Unite team get around them.
Warm and welcoming when you enter Barchester Oaklands Care Home in reception. Staff in the reception area, activity coordinators, carers, cleaners, caretakers are all friendly and cheerful and helpful. Flexible visiting hours are a plus. Cafe area in reception is good for meeting others in a similar position. It provides a forum for support from peers. My husband seems settled and I feel he's in a safe place.
Barchester Oaklands Care Home continues to offer a friendly and warm, happy atmosphere for residents and visitors. The standard of care and attention to residents' needs are comprehensive. The fabric is well-maintained by the maintenance staff and by the housekeeping staff - again, always with a cheerful and helpful approach.
Excellent care and attention given to my husband throughout the month.
The longer my husband resides at Oaklands the more impressed I become with the staff who work there. They certainly go the extra mile, eg: the activity lady organised for my husband to have a takeaway curry one evening as he's been missing them. The one to one time was very much appreciated by him and me.
I have really enjoyed my time here at Barchester Oaklands Care Home. I never expected it to be this good however the care I received was great from both nurses and care staff. Whilst staying with you, I had an appointment come up for the hospital and without giving it a second thought, Oaklands organised transport for me with your staff which was invaluable to me. The activity team are excellent at finding time to chat with me and also finding activities for individuals and groups.
All the staff are so caring and helpful, they have looked after my mum excellently. Everybody has made us so welcome, it's like one big family. My mum's care has been the best. Every single need she has wanted they have fulfilled and cannot thank them enough.
Since my dad became a resident at Barchester Oaklands in 2021, our experience has been very positive. The staff members are not just professional but also exceptionally friendly, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere every time I visit. They welcome my input greatly, always encouraging me to share my thoughts and opinions to tailor my dad's care to his needs and personality. I have been particularly impressed with how the unit manager's proactively seek feedback. They regularly check in to ensure I'm satisfied and address any concerns I might have. This level of attentiveness is a real strength. What also stands out if the varied range of activities on offer. The activity coordinators are full of energy and enthusiasm, always eager to listen to new ideas and bring them to life. Their commitment to caring to individual interests and needs is truly commendable. Overall, our experience at Oaklands has been hugely positive and I'm deeply grateful for the wonderful care and attention my dad receives.
All of Mum's great care and support were provided. Very friendly and professional staff and really good facilities.
My wife is very well cared for by all members of staff who are involved in her care. The home manager and her deputy, the admin staff, the housekeeping team and the maintenance team are all personally engaged with us. The activities team are frankly amazing - a big asset to the community they look after. Her nurses and carers are all friendly, professional and "on the ball", I am confident that she is well cared for at Barchester Oaklands Care Home in a clean and comfortable environment. Overall, l leave after my visits content that my wife is left in very safe and caring hands.
I can not praise the standard of care that my father has received here enough! Dad has been a resident in Oaklands Bottisham for almost a year and from the day he arrived he has had the highest standard of care and attention. Every single member of staff has smiles to greet the residents and their families and they are always happy to do anything required to ensure their residents are as comfortable and happy as possible. Dad has been so happy here. I am amazed how the staff, nurses, carers and everyone pop in to see Dad, calling him affectionately Grandad, even when he is not their patient that day. Recently, due to Dad’s declining health, I have been staying with Dad and the staff have also been constantly ensuring that I am looked after and comfortable. I was so worried about Dad when it had come to the time that we could no longer care for him at home but I can’t thank Oaklands and everyone there enough! 100% above and beyond care and love.
My mum has been here for 5 weeks and the staff are tremendous. All of them know their jobs. What's more, it's clear that they communicate with one another, providing person-centred care. They have looked after my mum brilliantly. They have also looked after me and my family in a time of great worry. Thank you so much! I have spoken with the manager on several occasions, while in other care homes, this has not happened at all!
My father spent his last few months at Oaklands and every single member of the staff has been wonderful. We have nothing but praise for the treatment my father and the family have been given.
