View Full Details of The BelvedereMedical care very good. Entertainment ideas excellent. Staff training (especially dementia care needs) could be improved - engaging with residents more and more training in manual handling. Simple concise instruction when dealing with residents. Bedrooms to be more secure, not pleasant to find dirty en-suite obviously used by other residents and other residents asleep on your bed! Like the idea of showing residents' choice of meals. Cleanliness of lounge, individual tables, chairs not good, general tidiness too leaves a lot to be desired.
My dad was in The Belvedere for four weeks of respite care. During this time my dad was generally happy/settled and my mum and myself visited daily. All the staff were very friendly and provided a good standard of care. Any issues we raised were considered and acted upon in a timely manner which we were grateful for. Key areas for improvement would be with respect to accessibility out of the care home for wheelchair users (cobbled streets outside) and minimal outside facilities and improvements in cleanliness of mobile tables residents ate off in the lounge/dining room.
The care and nursing that my mother has received on her demise have been second to none. The staff have treated my mother as if she was their own relative and also provided incredible support to my family at this very difficult time. I'm so grateful that my mother was able to spend the end of her life at this wonderful care home and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
My husband has been a resident of Belvedere for over a year and a half. I feel he is in a very safe and caring home. I am continually impressed by the carers and the nursing staff. I have never heard any of them raise their voices to any resident. The staff receive training from the Dementia Ambassador to show them how dementia really 'feels' to the resident. Some of us spouses received a mini version of that training. Very enlightening. Management has improved immensely since the latest manager was put in place in the last year. If I ever have an issue with care, I discussed it with the nurses or management and the issue was addressed and resolved. The facilities are in process of being updated and refreshed. But the rooms are well kept. Security and safety are a high priority and they put much effort into planning activities for the residents. I feel extremely confident that my husband is in the right place for his needs and I don't have to worry about him.
My father's care has been outstanding. He is always clean and groomed. His main carer is exceptional - nothing is too much trouble. All the staff seem to genuinely care. Fantastic service.
The care provided was very good indeed. Everything was very clean and the staff were very attentive and caring. I would certainly recommend The Belvedere Care Home and this would be our first port of call for any future care requirements.
Overall experience and care home have been good. Any worries have been addressed and resolved quickly. A lovely, comfortable, clean and well-kept faculty with very caring and friendly staff.
Staff have taken time to get to know my dad and his needs. When we have raised anything they have tried to action what we have said. When Dad needed medical support, they acted quickly. Dad has developed good relationships with several members of staff.
All staff at Belvedere dealt with my dad and also importantly my mum with the utmost care and respect. We had everything explained to us comprehensively and have been able to telephone as well as visit any time of day or night.
I have difficulty with the car park, which does not have enough spaces. It does not help that the nursing home is situated at the end of an unadopted, cobbled cul-de-sac.
The Manager and Deputy show good leadership and dedication and are extremely approachable. Residents are treated with dignity and respect. The home is very welcoming and homely with a nice atmosphere. Seems to be a lot of activities going on within the home to keep residents occupied and happy.
2023 - lack of staff, stability. Management change. Poor communications. High number of Agency Staff. Poor decor. 2024 - New Manager, made personable, improved communication, listens to families. Improvements to decor/menu/activities. The recruitment plan progressing at pace. Family expectations are high, and optimism with the new manager is also high.
Extremely happy with The Belvedere Care Home. Everyone showed kindness, compassion and care to my dad. The staff and management are welcoming and approachable. Overall very happy!
Mum has been a resident at the Belvedere for 15 months now. The care and support provided is exceptional, and there is a lovely camaraderie between the residents and the staff. The social activities are excellent and much enjoyed by my mum (and me), and the food is excellent with a superb menu choice. The Belvedere is truly a home from home for my mum, and it is so reassuring to me, to see how safe and settled she is with her fellow residents and the lovely staff. Communication is great, nothing is too much trouble. There is an amazing manager at the helm, and I would not hesitate to recommend The Belvedere.
My dad has been at The Belvedere since September 2023. I have nothing but total praise for all the staff. They all go above and beyond to make sure everyone is cared for and happy. Nothing is ever too much trouble and I find all the staff very friendly and approachable. There is always someone available to answer your queries. There are activities organised for the residents which cater to all abilities. The food is prepared on-site and always smells divine!
Appalling visit to see my dad today, his eyes couldn't open due to crusted-together yellow discharge. Hair scalp thick with white scaley mess, like cradle cap and smell. In his notes claimed hair was washed daily this week. False teeth were left out on the bathroom shelf, and the container on the sink was filthy. Food drip stains on bed guards and on bedside cabinet. The bed was a mess. Tatty throw on Dad, no top sheet, that was thrown on a chair. Dad had only a jumper on and no vest, he has sensitive skin. No cushion between his legs, should always be there, not in his room when we looked for it. Raised concerns and issues with a nurse, no managers available over the weekend, mainly agency staff. Dad always appears to be in bed on visits, no stimulation ie radio or TV on, even though we have requested many times. Staff were surprised my sister and I were actually in the building. After the visit feeling extremely distressed and wanted to go home and shower. We have raised issues in the past, no improvement.
I have been a resident in The Belvedere and am very happy here. There is a lovely atmosphere in the home. My room is comfortable, warm and clean. The staff are kind. The nurses are very good and the GP comes every week. The food is excellent and activities are organised. I feel very safe and secure. Unlike most of the residents, I don't have dementia but have limited mobility at present.
My father moved into The Belvedere a month ago and has been very happy there. All the staff are very caring and have worked very hard to offer the best care for my father. I highly recommend The Belvedere for their excellent care and compassion. The food is also very nice, my dad has never eaten so well! Special thanks to the manager and all the team. Would highly recommend The Belvedere.
During the month, the staff continued their great efforts in making the residents' lives pleasant and comfortable. A lovely Christmas lights switch on with carol singing early in the month, a Christmas party with a guest singer and a trip to a local garden centre made Christmas wonderful. On Christmas Day, I enjoyed lunch with my mum which was of the highest standard. All in all, The Belvedere is a lovely place for my mum, where they understand her dementia extremely well.
The consistent care of the staff is fantastic, their unwavering attention to the residents and good humour are an absolute credit to the staff. We have a new manager now and her commitment to the home is exemplary.
