View Full Details of Ventress HallMy Mum doesn't get much interaction from carers, otherwise what is absolutely necessary. I feel that her basic needs are met but the carers could do more to make her life better. We often find carers sat in the lounge socialising between themselves or on their phones and I think that time could be better spent with the residents. Mum's room is often dirty and untidy. We have raised issues with things not working in her room and they have not been resolved.
My Aunt moved to Ventress Hall in October 2024. 4 months in she seems very settled and happy. I selected Ventress Hall based on the friendliness of the staff and the general atmosphere which felt welcoming and slightly informal - the main reception area always seems to be quite busy and bustling and I like that. She is happy with the food, there have been quite a few outings for her - and if the staff are encouraging she is likely to join in activities and have some fun. It has been a weight off my mind that she is now somewhere and safe and is cared for - and not living alone where she was becoming increasingly anxious about everything.
Very pleased with the care provided for my sister. The whole team are friendly, helpful and supportive. My sister is treat as an individual, all her care needs are met and we also have a laugh with the staff and other residents. Plenty of activities to keep people busy and a very friendly atmosphere. Thank you to the whole team for all they do.
All the carers look after my mam well, and she gets along with them all. The only problem I have is that if there is anything wrong with mam (i.e. lately very sore legs, painful back and bum). I have to point it out to the seniors and ask for something to be done. I think this kind of problem should be noticed more by the carers. In all other respects, I'm happy with her care.
Mum has been here for 9 months. She has such a good quality of life now with all the activities and trips out she has. The staff are warm and welcoming and will do anything to help. The only problem we encountered was around Mum's cleanliness, Mum has Alzheimer's and when staff asked if she needed any help washing and dressing Mum always said she could manage even though she couldn't. But now things seem to be improving as Mum is accepting help and getting showered regularly, after asking the staff to use different wording when asking her.
Generally good but there are some things that could be improved upon. For instance, drinks are provided in the dementia lounge, sometimes without drinking glasses. No towels in the bathroom, things going missing, which is common in the dementia unit, and staff don't have time to look for them. Most things do turn up eventually. Unsupervised residents in the lounge, especially when one of the carers is on a break. The carers are great but they are often rushing around trying to do two things at once. Although staffing levels meet the government standards I feel they could always do with more. There could be more frequent activities to stimulate the dementia residents. On an afternoon some residents in the lounge are asleep. Maybe they are just tired, but it could be because they are bored. Last week there was music from a bagpipe player, which went down well. Overall this is a good care home with good food. With a few tweaks, it could be great.
Putting Mum into a care home was the hardest decision we have had to make but I am now so pleased we have. The worry and stress have gone away knowing that she is in such a caring environment with staff who genuinely care about her. Her social life is great with many opportunities to attend different events or just to sit and chat with other residents.
My wife and I visit Ventress most days. There is always a calm atmosphere. Cleanliness is excellent, it is bright and homely. Always made to feel welcome. We feel residents are well cared for. We would certainly recommend.
We had a very poor experience at Ventress Hall. We often struggled to access the building due to lack of staff on reception. My Dad was not looked after well in the specialist dementia unit, and staff were not very caring or attentive. Some of the staff were very rude to me, and lacked the patience and professionalism to be in this line of work. We moved Dad to another home and have had an infinitely better experience.
Excellent care received from start to finish. My brother passed away peacefully and was cared for up until the end of his life by all the staff.
Staff warm and friendly, welcoming, look after the whole family - not just the residents. Nothing is too much trouble, on hand to answer questions any time. Calm and relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend.
Been into visit a couple of times and both times staff have been lovely and helpful.
All the staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome.
This is a happy and caring home. I'm very pleased that my sister has moved here.
From entering the building, security is safe for both residents, family and staff using the building. A varied range of activities are available which stimulates the residents. All staff appear to be enthusiastic and dedicated to looking after the residents. The cleanliness is of a high standard. It's good to see residents encouraged to sit together for meal times, with a wide range of meal options. Would recommend Ventress Hall to others who are looking for care for their family member.
Dad has been here for a few weeks now and we are happy with all aspects of the home.
Excellent service, staff, and facilities have been first-rate. The patient is treated with dignity and care. Visitors are also looked after.
Mother is exceptionally well cared for and settled. The care team go above and beyond to ensure the well-being of my mother. Initially, my mum was apprehensive about going into full-time care but now is enjoying a social life that she has not enjoyed for years. She is happy and content and myself and my family cannot praise Ventress Hall highly enough.
My mother is so happy at this care home. All the staff are pleasant and helpful, they always have a smile on their face. My mother is well looked after.
All the staff are really helpful and kind, will do anything for you. No problem at all.
