View Full Details of St Catherine's Nursing HomeMy father and myself are very happy with the standard of care provided at the home. All the staff are polite, friendly, helpful and willing to do whatever they can to meet his needs and make him comfortable.
My Mother moved to St Catherine's just over 2 years ago. I cannot express in words the overwhelming relief this has given me as I live quite a long way away. Without exception, whenever I visit, whoever I speak to from the lady who does the laundry, to the wonderful service manager, they are always able to tell me how my mother has been and is on the day. As she has dementia it means that by the time we get to my mother's room, we are prepared for our visit emotionally. Having had a poor previous experience elsewhere we know first-hand that St Catherine's care home and all of the staff are first class and 5-star. This service wraps itself around and cares for the whole family. Thank you.
St Catherine's was so homely and welcoming when I first visited that I knew immediately it was where my father would be happy. The dedication of the whole team was amazing and they always had time to answer any questions. I was always welcomed when I arrived for a visit and was given an update on his condition. Sadly he was only there a few months before he passed and the end-of-life support they gave the family was wonderful. I have visited the care home since my father's death and again was made most welcome, I enjoy meeting the lovely team there and will continue to visit in the future. Keep up the good work, you are all amazing!
My mother has been a resident for approx four years having initially gone in for respite though difficult to get her settled, with the help of their excellent staff things soon changed and she began to settle down which took the stress and worry away of putting a much-loved mother into an environment which at that point in time was completely alien to her. Now some years later she has become a much loved and respected resident who now has the misfortune of having Parkinson's. This further hindrance is dealt with in a professional manner and its needs are addressed as and when required throughout the day. Nothing is too much trouble and the nursing home is on a constant self-improvement programme which by taking small steps produces enormous progress.
I am very happy that my sister is in your home. I know she is well looked after by all the staff. We are always welcomed in and you can tell it's a very happy place to be. If it came to me having to go into a home I would be very happy if my family chose your home for me to stay.
Staff friendly, efficient, caring and supportive to residents/families. Concerns dealt with speedily. Access to management and nursing staff is readily available. Care plan appropriate for residents' needs. Atmosphere within the home is welcoming and relaxed.
I cannot praise St Catherine's enough for the nursing, emotional and all-round care they give my mum. Mum never wanted to go into a care home let alone a nursing home but unfortunately, that decision has been taken away from her and she has been a resident at St Catherine's since October 2017. When mum arrived she could not walk and we were told at the hospital that she probably would never walk again. With her determination and the care and patience of the staff at St Catherine's she has proved them all wrong and is walking with the aid of a frame. The care here is exceptional. On behalf of all of mum's family, I thank all the staff for making mum's autumn years happy and healthy. Thank you.
I cannot praise the staff and management team enough. My mother-in-law was admitted to St Catherine's under extremely sad circumstances and this had a profound effect on her as well as the family. Ever since that day the team have worked tirelessly to help everyone settle and we all feel like part of a huge and happy family. Nothing is too much trouble and I am particularly impressed at how quickly everyone has got to know my mother-in-law and the family and involve us all in her care planning. The support on offer as well as high-quality care given is amazing. The nurses and careers go about their business quickly, quietly and professionally. I have visited at various times of the day and evening and have been very impressed by the consistency of excellent care given to every resident and family member. St Catherine's is well led and demonstrates a robust governance programme.
Very caring staff, always willing to help and support. Care is exceptional and catering more than expected. Clean, safe and welcoming.
The care, love and support given by all the staff was very much appreciated.
I became a resident at St Catherine's in October 2016. Since that time, I have received outstanding care from the staff here, have been kept warm and comfortable, and have enjoyed my food. Occasionally, I have had had the opportunity to attend outside events e.g music concerts. The staff are kind, understanding, and very attentive to the medical needs that I have from time to time.
Very clean and well run home. The staff are great and caring.
I have the greatest amount of respect and gratitude for my father's new family! He is so well cared for he is treated with dignity and love. The only comment I would make that is Dad's trousers are often pulled up too high and therefore uncomfortable after being in the hoist.
The management, nurses, carers and staff at St Catherine's are excellent. The care and support of our mother's many needs have been superb which has given reassurance to us all knowing she is in safe hands. Everyone still seems to be able to manage a cheery smile even after many long hours of work and requests for assistance are dealt with as quickly as possible. Great work St Catherine's Nursing Home.
Very good care home with care home with excellent nurses and carers.
My wife and I visited ten nursing homes in North Herts before choosing St Catherine's for my mother. Our immediate impression was that it provided an environment that was "homely" and "friendly" exactly the adjectives used to describe St Catherine's on its website. "Homeliness" is important when you are suddenly unable to remain in your home. Most other homes felt more impersonal and more like cottage hospitals than "home". The residents are treated with respect. A lot of good entertainment and activities are provided for those who want them and the staff go out of their way to make the most of occasions such as birthdays, Christmas, Easter and Halloween. In addition, there have been several trips out to local places of interest. My mother has been a resident for almost 3 years. Over that time a considerable amount of money has been spent on upgrading the facilities at what is a rather old but very quaint building. Recently the hot water supply was replaced. So things do not stand still and when problems arise, they get fixed. The Care Quality Commission (inspection September 2016) rated the home "Good" in all of the six categories assessed.
