View Full Details of Oakwood GrangeI cannot speak too highly of the care I have received. I have only been in residence for a matter of weeks but during that time my husband died and the care and consideration I have received has been without parallel. Both staff and management have made it the best place to be at this time.
Have been quite impressed by my time at Oakwood Grange. I did not know what to expect as many bad reviews are published about various care homes. I have settled here well. Everyone is so friendly. Managment, staff, carers and other residents food is varied and good, room is clean and common areas attractive and welcoming. Can eat in the dining room or my own room - it is good to have a choice. There are lots of smiley faces about which is good too.
Mum has been living at Oakwood for over six months. Mum experienced appalling care at her two previous care homes, and so, understandably, I was initially apprehensive. This was soon replaced with joy and relief. Mum's bed is always clean, her clothes are clean and respectfully put neatly back into her wardrobe, and nothing has gone missing. Mum is so much more settled and always clean. She is kept safe within the home as the carers understand Mum's dementia and her particular behaviours and the risks around that. Mum's care plan shows that it has been written with knowledge, understanding and professionalism that I haven't seen in her previous two care homes, all of this gives me confidence and happiness and I am so grateful to everyone, the owners, management, carers and everyone who works at Oakwood for giving such a high and professional standard of care, it means more than I can really put into words.
We had visited several care homes in the area for my aunt and uncle. As soon as we entered Oakwood Grange, we felt at home. The atmosphere is calm, warm and bright but the care and carers are exceptional. They have so much time for both the residents and their families and friends. Nothing is too much trouble. It has been a very upsetting and stressful time as my uncle was taken into hospital days before he was supposed to live at Oakwood, so my aunt moved in by herself. She has been so well cared for by everyone and when my uncle came out of hospital just after New Year, they cared so well for him despite his failing health. He died 10 days after he had moved in and I'm so relieved that they were both together at such a critical time. Thank you to everyone. As a family we know that my aunt is so well-cared for and has social interaction when she most needs it.
We took the difficult decision to move my mother into a care home in June 2024. From the moment we visited the care home, we knew we had made the right decision. The staff at Oakwood Grange could not be more caring. My mother loved her time there. Sadly, she has now passed but I know that in the relatively short time she was there, she felt safe and well looked after by the excellent staff. Thank you to all at Oakwood Grange for the love and care you showed to my mother.
My husband has been a resident for around 8 months. Staff are really friendly and communicate fairly well. I find sometimes he isn't washed and dressed to the usual standards but on a whole the care is satisfactory. The only thing I disagree with, is on the odd occasion he has had a fall, is the staff sent him to hospital alone instead of with a member of staff.
Excellent food, good choice. Always cleaning. Very health and safety conscious. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Nice garden to sit or walk in. Good choice of activities. Regular visits by the hairdresser, chiropodist, optician etc. Television in all rooms. Good choice of books to read.
Mum has been here for four weeks now and during this time all the staff we have found to be professional, caring, empathetic, kind and fully focused on providing the best possible care for the residents. The building is immaculate, as are the rooms. The food provided is of an excellent quality and all the residents appear safe and content in the environment. All the staff deserve high praise and recognition and their efforts should be applauded and recognised.
My mum had a seven-day respite break at Oakwood Grange. She was amazed by the care she was provided. Starting with the lovely clean room, the first-class meals and the friendly caring staff. They went over and above board to help her. She's planning her next visit shortly.
The hard work and caring nature of all the staff makes it a lovely home for the residents. The love, care, consideration and respect given on a daily basis is outstanding and very much appreciated by both residents and relatives. Oakwood Grange is more than a care home, my mum has been a resident since October 2023 and has settled in lovely. I can proudly say the staff and residents have now become an extension of our family. Thank you Oakwood Grange.
So good to see Dad doing so well in the care of Oakwood Grange Care Home. I saw huge improvements within days of leaving the hospital. Staff are attentive and caring and questions are answered positively. The home is clean and tidy and you can see the effort everyone puts in. I'd have no reservations in recommending Oakwood Grange to future residents.
My dad came here recently from the hospital after his previous care home refused to take him back. Since the day he came here, the staff have been amazing, not only with Dad but with his (4) anxious daughters. Dad has challenges caused by his dementia, and the staff are not only understanding and caring but also looking for ways to improve Dad's mood and behaviour. They are in frequent contact with our family with updates. We could not feel happier and more supported by the manager and every other single member of staff we have met.
I struck gold when I found this care home. I had personal and health problems of my own, aside from worrying about my dad and didn't visit as much as I would have liked, but I never once felt judged, and I felt assured that Dad was being looked after and treated so kindly by the lovely caring staff. On Dad's final day, I was scared and didn't know what to expect, but as I walked into his room, there was a calm ambience, and a member of staff sat holding his hand. I knew right then that everything was going to be alright. There were three members of staff that I met for the first time that last night, and they were all there for me; I don't know how I would have gotten through it without them. Especially one particular lady who looked after me. It's just such a homely, lovely environment. The staff are so professional and also have a sense of humour and always gave off the feeling that they loved working there and always had a smile for you. Nothing was too much trouble. Brilliant place.
My wife is a dementia resident. I am very pleased with the care she is receiving, and with the friendly welcome I receive from the staff each time I visit. The staff are wonderful - very caring, kind, patient and helpful. They are an excellent team, well-led. First class, purpose-built accommodation and facilities. I could not hope to find a better place to care for my wife than Oakwood Grange. My heartfelt thank you to all.
My mum was only with the care home for two months before her death. The staff were very caring and compassionate. The food was lovely (although my mum was not good at eating), but my dad enjoyed many meals while visiting her, which he kept commenting were excellent! I would recommend this home wholeheartedly and thank them for the care they gave Mum in her final months,
Mum arrived at Oakwood, coming directly from the hospital. Mum was only in the home for a week as she was very ill. The staff were absolutely wonderful, kind, compassionate, caring and experienced. Between them all, they could not have done more for Mum and our family. The staff have created a very comfortable, friendly, warm environment for the residents; it's an absolute credit t them all. Mum sadly passed away. We will always be grateful that she was in such a lovely home.
My dad moved to Oakwood Grange when we lost our mother. The manager accepted him within three days. The staff go above and beyond to cater for his needs, and the service from all the staff has been superb since. His room is always clean, tidy and well-maintained. The food is always first class, with plenty of choices. Thank you for the great service at Oakwood Grange.
The care home is very welcoming, and the staff are helpful and welcoming to all visiting family members and friends of the residents. The residents are treated with the utmost care and kindness, and their needs are met with their dignity and comfort uppermost. Nothing is too much trouble for the carers. The home is very clean, warm and comfortable. The meals varied and of good quality. I am very happy that my husband is at Oakwood Grange as I now have peace of mind when I leave him after visiting him, knowing he is being well looked after.
Having experienced other care homes, Oakwood Grange Care Home is head and shoulders above the rest. Spotlessly clean and the staff go above and beyond to make my aunty comfortable, happy and well-fed. Good is lovely with a well-balanced diet and plenty of variety. It's the staff and management that make this place fantastic. Thanks to all.
For any of us, moving an elderly parent into residential care is super stressful. This, for me, is compounded by the fact I have no siblings and do not live in Yorkshire. I needed a home for Mum where staff are on permanent contracts, not agency or zero hours; where they all have access to personal development; where the care hours are above the minimum required by CQC; where care planning is thorough and clearly recorded. Most of all, I wanted a home where there was clear leadership, a residential manager who not only motivated the staff but inspired them and was 100% focused on individual person-centred care. I have found that at Oakwood. The manager is passionate that Oakwood Grange is the residents' own home and this is reflected by her team leaders and care staff. Mum has settled well and I know is afforded care with dignity and often a good dose of humour. Finally, a special mention to the fantastic laundry and cooks - you do an amazing job.
