View Full Details of Preston HouseMy wife has a good sized ensuite room with plenty space for visitors. The staff are welcoming and approachable and have a good understanding of my wifes needs. The level of care and support is good and there is a homely feel to the environment. There are trips out and celebrations days that are well-planned and good fun for everyone.
I always enjoy visiting my gran at the home. I often bring my dog and he is always made welcome but the residents and staff. My gran loves it here as she "gets her washing done and all her meals". There is always someone about if we have any questions or need some help.
I communicate well with the carers. They treat me with respect and talk to me, not down to me, that is good. They listen if you have any problems and try to help and sort them out.
My brother became a resident in Preston House in May 2024. The building and individual rooms are attractive, well-maintained and very clean. The grounds are beautiful and offer lovely outside seating areas. Staff are friendly and nothing seems too much bother for them. The nursing staff are knowledgeable and always discuss any changes to the care plan to ensure that relatives are kept well informed. I have seen a remarkable change in aspects of my brother's well-being due to the attention given to meet his specific needs. The manager maintains a very visible profile on the site. She is approachable and has good knowledge of the residents and their families. There is a wide range of activities available for residents. In conclusion, Preston House staff go the extra mile and give me confidence that my brother is being well looked after and his needs are being well met- A big thank you to all who contribute to his care.
I wrote a review for Preston House in April 2023 shortly after my husband moved in, saying how happy I was that I had chosen this Care Home and I feel exactly the same some 16 months later. The rooms and public areas are kept beautifully clean and tidy. There is also a really pretty garden area where residents and their friends and family can sit out. The food looked very tasty with a selection of dishes for each meal. There was also tea and coffee with biscuits and cakes served regularly. There are a number of activities planned for the residents - crafts, day trips and concerts. What makes this Home so special however is the manager and all the lovely staff who were so helpful, kind and patient and looked after my husband so well during his time in Preston House, especially so in his final days. Towards the end, someone would sit with him so he was never alone. That was very comforting for me and I can never thank them enough. I would certainly highly recommend Preston House.
When visiting my friend with his wife on a few occasions I always found him in excellent care. Very friendly and professional staff at the time of my friend's death. He was treated with great care and dignity also his wife was cared for at a very difficult time. I would recommend Preston House.
The staff need more training on how to handle a service user with complex needs. Simple measures like talking to them and not down to them. Listening and not talking over them. Not getting into their personal space. Too many agency staff who don't know the specific needs, e.g. my mum only had top teeth and no one knew this and gave her inedible food. The nurse in charge needs training in communicating with family to show empathy and not anger or arrogance. Kicking my mum out after 9 days shows they don't have the skills in this home to look after anyone. Since this have heard so many bad stories about this home.
My mum has been in Preston House for three years and we have appreciated all aspects of her stay from day one. She has a lovely room. The staff are amazing! They are totally devoted to the residents and always ready to answer any questions I might have. The activities coordinator does a marvellous job. She put in so much thought into making my mum's 99th birthday celebration special. Every effort is made to turn this house into a home.
The entrance to Preston House is excellent. Information board with notice of events sure to take place and updates on relevant issues etc. Locked inside door operated from reception and signing in on entry, makes for a good feeling of security. The pleasant fresh smell on entry and always a welcome greeting from staff. The home looks and feels warm, clean and friendly. Our relative's needs are well taken care of and for that, we are 100% thankful. The outside garden area is well laid out and cared for, good, secure and nice place to sit and enjoy good weather when visiting.
Mum will have been here coming up for a year in June, and I definitely believe if she was anywhere else, she would not be here. Preston has changed Mum for the better. She is very well and happy. The care she receives is fantastic. The carers are so caring and good with Mum. One nurse is my lifesaver as she always puts my mind at ease with things. She is so kind and understanding. Reception staff are always welcoming and are there if you need them for anything. Manger is so kind and calm, a lovely person. Any problems and she is there and on the ball. I really think I know everyone here. All residents know me as I am here every day to see my mum, who means the world to me. My mum isn't just my mum, she is my best friend. I love her so much. Preston House is always clean and today. always smells good, thanks to the wonderful cleaners. We all want the best for our family members, and I am so glad Mum came here, as I can walk away every day with my mind at ease knowing Mym is in safe, caring hands.
The level of nursing and care at Preston House is fantastic. There is a real feeling of a Preston House family that we, as residents' children, feel we are part of. Everyone from the kitchen to the cleaners to the carers, nurses, and managers loves looking after their residents, and the love they have for them is quite simply wonderful. They are also supportive, informative and caring for all the resident's family and friends. This isn’t just a job for these guys. They truly go above and beyond. In one recent example, nurses would not finish their shift until our mother was stabilised and comfortable, even though the next shift had started.
Preston House is truly a wonderful loving and caring home, a home in every sense of the word. Our dad moved to Preston in mid-August 2023 for end-of-life care. With the loving care he received from day 1, he improved slightly, affording us more time with Dad these last few months. Sadly, he passed away in December 2023. The amazing staff were extremely caring and compassionate towards our dad and us, his family. In his last week, we sat with Dad by day. Overnight he was never alone, staff took turns to sit with him, including the care home manager. The compassionate leadership provided by the care home manager is woven throughout the wonderful caring team she has recruited. From a warm welcoming reception team to all the carers, housekeepers and nurses, every one of them contributed to creating a culture of one big family. We will be forever grateful to the team at the beautiful Preston House. What a gem of a place in the Care Home sector! We cannot recommend Preston House highly enough.
A dear family friend has lived at Preston House since March 2020 (just as lockdown started). Visiting during the pandemic was obviously stressful for all concerned but it’s now a joy to visit and see it functioning to its full potential. It's great to be able just to pop in and not have to pre-book a slot. The staff are wonderful and always welcoming. My dear friend is not just well cared for and treated with respect but is surrounded by love. The home is clean and tidy as is my friend's room but so is her wardrobe ie. behind closed doors. Her family do not live nearby so it is a great comfort to them and her friends that she’s not only safe but loved. Cannot speak highly enough of Preston House.
We have been impressed immensely with every amenity offered by Preston House. First impressions mean a lot and the cleanliness and freshness were apparent from our first step over the threshold, this along with the friendly welcome in the reception area put us instantly at ease and convinced us we had made the perfect choice of residence for our mother. The staff, from the manager down, take the meaning of care to the highest level, friendly, considerate, understanding and professional in all they do. The bedrooms are large, bright and airy with a cosy, comfortable feel to them. The food on offer is of the very highest quality, freshly cooked, with a varied menu, obviously put together to suit the needs and tastes of the diverse appetites of the many residents. When I first saw a daily menu I was sorely tempted to sign myself in. We would be hard-pressed to find a fault here and would recommend Preston House to anyone seeking care for a loved one.
My mother was resident at Preston House for almost 4 years and in spite of her increasing debility, it was hugely reassuring to know that she was in such a caring environment. The staff became much more than merely personnel, they became friends and we as immediate family took great comfort from the care, friendship and professionalism they demonstrated on so many occasions. Any issues, minor or otherwise, could and were discussed in an atmosphere of friendly discourse to ensure the best outcome for our mother was always the prime objective and we have nothing but the greatest love and respect for them.
I am in love with this care home, my dad is a resident in Preston House and the staff are the best, knowing your parent is in the best of hands and the attention to detail is spot on, he gets his medicine on time he is changed several times a day if he spills his food. They all take extra care of him and run after him and make him countless cups of tea, the day trips are great also and the way they speak to him like they are all relatives to him. I cannot speak highly enough of the manager to the receptionists the carers and the nurses all take great care of him, it's warming to know that when you leave he is in the best of hands. I love my dad and I love the staff that look after him at Preston House Care Home in Glenrothes just as much, absolutely great at their jobs.
My stepmum has been in Preston House since May this year and she couldn't be looked after any better anywhere else. The home is very secure and very clean. The staff are brilliant and well clued up in their jobs and have plenty of compassion and empathy. Thank you so much to all the staff for all the hard work you carry out every day.
My mum who has Alzheimer's has been in Preston House for over three years. Throughout this time the care she has been given has been excellent. Dementia is such a cruel condition and it's difficult for family to see its effects on their loved ones. Preston House staff are patient, caring and compassionate and treat everyone with respect. They also take time to build relationships not only with those in their care but also with family members and for this I will always be grateful.
My brother went to Preston House for an assessment period. When this ended, he did not want to leave - he said, " I feel safe and well cared for". All of the staff and management are very approachable and helpful. This is comforting for me, as I live many miles away, and it is good to know that my brother's needs are being well cared for in a professional, friendly and safe environment.
My dad was a resident in Preston House for four years and was treated with dignity and respect by all the staff. He passed away peacefully in April and the care and kindness shown towards him and the family was second to none. The manager and her team went above and beyond to ensure he was comfortable and well looked after at all times but particularly when he was receiving end-of-life care. In his last few days, he was treated like he was one of their own with some of the staff coming in even when they were off duty to support him, the family and help out the rest of the team. We strongly believe that our dad wouldn’t have had better care anywhere else. We were always provided with regular updates on his care and the nursing staff kept us informed of any issues that required involvement of the GP. The GP practice was also excellent and would always contact us to discuss any concerns or changes required to medication. I cannot recommend Preston House highly enough.
