View Full Details of Berrycroft ManorMy wife who has vascular dementia was accepted at Berrycroft Manor in March 2024. I have nothing but praise for this care home, all the staff are very friendly and caring. From the cleaners, laundry staff, maintenance, management, receptionist have a lovely caring approach to all the residents, know everyone and are first name terms. Even when times are tough nothing is too much trouble. We as a family have nothing but praise for Berrycroft Manor. I know they go above and beyond for the residents.
Our family was very pleased with the care and attention given to my husband by all the staff and carers during my husband's stay at Berrycroft Manor.
I am floored and humbled by the care and banter here. Gorgeous workers, so passionate about the work. I feel so lucky that I can go back to Australia knowing my grandad is so well looked after and loved. The staff know him and they listen and care. I wish my mum's mum had a place like this in Australia. P.S. Amazing food but coffee does seem scary hot, only note! Thank you so much.
My aunt has lived in the home for approximately three years. She has been very well cared for, very comfortable and happy in her final years. After hospitalisation, she returned for end-of-life care. This was managed professionally and with great sensitivity by the staff. The family are grateful indeed.
My mum was a resident at Berrycroft for ten years. Every member of staff would acknowledge her and had their own bond/banter with her which she loved. Her bedroom and ensuite were regularly cleaned and kept in good repair. The caretaker would assist if Mum asked for things like a picture to be put up. She was encouraged to sit in the lounge/dining area to enable her to engage with fellow residents. Her needs were always met and managed/carers did as much as they could to support her in every area, i.e. always giving baths as she didn't like showers. My mum was always dressed in clean matching outfits and used the hairdressing and food care facilities. Mum's nails were booked after by carers painting them colours of my mum's choice. Mum was encouraged to continue to do as much as she could and was always treated with dignity and respect, the Berrycroft team became her close family constantly showing her love and kindness. I couldn't recommend Berrycroft Manor more highly.
Mum has lived at Berrycroft Manor for the last three and a half years. We had visited a number of care homes in the area prior to Mum joining and felt that Berrycroft would best meet her needs. Mum is provided with the specialist dementia care she needs. The staff are extremely caring, and they have a very good understanding of her needs. They know when she is not well or not herself and very quickly organise the additional support needed and make the referrals required. Staff go the extra mile and are always available to talk things through. They also provide support to us as family members and offer reassurance. It is not an easy decision to leave a loved one in the care of someone else, but we feel confident that we have made the right decision.
Berrycroft Manor is a really lovely place. I always get a good feeling when I go to visit my mum there, and she is very content, well and happy. I trust them all implicitly and am very comforted to know my mum is being so well looked after.
Every single member of the amazing Berrycroft Manor team shows the most wonderful understanding, care and constant genuine attention and affection to my auntie. We could not ask for anymore. She is always happy and loves all the team on "The Bramble" floor.
My foster mother has been cared for by the lovely staff here for over three years. Unfortunately, she died recently at the age of 94. I can only say that I am pleased she was here and nowhere else. Thanks to all the wonderful staff.
Residence and rooms are in top-class condition. Clean and smart. But more importantly, the staff are very caring. Good activities are organised also for residents. My wife has dementia and has been resident for three years and has been cared for in a very professional and caring manner. Highly recommend.
My mother has been a resident at Berrycroft Manor for just over four years. During that time her care has been adapted to her needs at all times. Berrycroft is a very caring community, the staff are professional and so good at what they do. My mother has had some health challenges and the staff have always been there to support us. They certainly go the extra mile.
Berrycroft Manor is a very caring environment management and staff are very good. Rooms and common areas all cleaned to a high standard. Residents are well looked after and seem happy. I recently went to their annual garden party which was well organised the residents loved the 1940s singer and everyone had great fun.
My Mum is very happy here, but I am not happy about the amount of agency staff that have been used in the past as from experience they don’t always take the time to read about the resident. I also feel that communication is not at its best regarding hospital appointments I feel that the staff do all they can given how stretched they are.
We visited most of the care homes in the area before deciding this was the best option. Mum has been there for 18 months now and we are generally happy with the care given. There is a reasonably high turnover in staff but that seems unfortunately to be the norm in this industry but there is always the feeling that there isn't quite enough staff. The other area I think could be improved is the amount of activities (both internal and external). More would be better. I still think we made the right choice for Mum and she is generally happy and well looked after.
Mum has been at Berrycroft Manor now for just over 2 years. The staff have been brilliant with her as she has vascular dementia but is no trouble. Unfortunately, she couldn't stay at home on her own anymore and yes it was a difficult decision to make but she had been previously for respite to Berrycroft after a fall and was very happy. The staff are excellent at letting me know if she has been unwell or is going on a trip which she absolutely loves. The view from her room is amazing looking over the hills which Mum takes great joy in looking at, especially in the winter.
Overall we are very pleased with Mum's care. All staff seem caring and thorough in what they do. The office staff are also very good. There does seem to be a lot of new staff and a high staff turnover. I suppose that is the current state of the care industry.
We as a family can't thank the staff enough for their ongoing care and attention to our Mum. She is always clean and immaculately dressed and the staff help Mum constantly with her difficulty to eat and drink. Whenever my Mum has health problems that need medical attention the staff organise everything. We are so pleased we chose Berrycroft Manor who have looked after Mum's care for over 9 months.
Dad has been so well looked after by the team - he is always well dressed and clean and thought is given to what he’s wearing and how he looks. Their communication with us as a family is good, and we feel involved in his care and consulted with him in terms of decision-making. The quality of the food is exceptional, with a good variety offered both at meal time and for snacks or in between food. The home is clean and well cared for - we feel that the staff take pride in where they work and the quality of care they give.
My mum joined the community at Berrycroft Manor abruptly following a fall. The team were welcoming and very supportive of an older adult who had resisted the move into residential care. While a large care home with numerous residents, Berrycroft Manor is organised into community groups (Mum's was 'Holly') so that there is increased potential for new arrivals to integrate and form new friendships. She had been very lonely, and it was lovely to see a smile return as she engaged in the daily activities that were planned for the residents. The rooms were as advertised - spacious, ensuite and with a view of something from the window - Mum's room overlooked the garden. She was happy there. Mum had two conditions that meant that end-of-life was in the not-to-distant future, and she was only a resident for 151 days. The care at end-of-life (of both mum and her family) was nothing short of outstanding. The staff were powerful advocates for her to ensure that all her wishes were met.
My aunt lived close to Berrycroft Manor. After a fall that involved surgery for bleeding in the brain, she went from hospital to an assessment centre. Here she decided herself that she would like to go into Berrycroft Manor, as she knew some residents there and had visited them. So my aunt lived there from August 2015 until her death in June 2023 aged 101. Although aged, my aunt was in fairly good health and mentally strong right up to the day she was taken into hospital. My aunt was taken into hospital and died, peacefully the same day. I am glad that having lived an active and an interesting life, she did not suffer a long final illness. Some health issues were dealt with efficiently at Berrycroft, such as radiotherapy for a minor skin blemish and the Covid pandemic was managed well, at least as far as my aunt was concerned. All things considered my aunt lived a comfortable final few years very well in Berrycroft Manor. Thanks to the staff.
