My son has now been a resident at the Lodge for 6 years and feels very much at home there. He arrived in a state of high anxiety following a previous residential experience during which his behaviour had risen from challenging to chaotic. The placement was offered at short notice and, on paper, he certainly wasn't an ideal resident. Among other issues he was prone to causing floods, smashing doors and light sockets and having complete meltdowns. The staff not only treated him in a calm, professional manner, but adapted his flat to ensure that his more damaging behaviours couldn't continue. They also put some structure into his daily routine which he was made fully aware of and soon adapted to - I think this was one of the main benefits in making him feel secure and listened to. Danny is kept very much in the loop as to who will be looking after him daily and this encourages awareness and participation. He used to go to his Dad's for Xmas, but now wants to stay "at home". A happy man!
The Lodge undertook care of my son at short notice and after a chaotic breakdown of his care/wellbeing at a previous residential home. They have been quick to restore calm and routine to his life. Facing challenging behaviour they have sought advice and been quick to implement suggestions and have initiated some great ideas for their own.
My brother needs one to one care and his own space when at home. This care home provides him with his own flat and 24 hour one to one care. Every day is suited to his needs and his choices and the care staff are excellent. He has plenty of outside activities to go to and his flat is new and top rate as well. In my opinion, for him, his care and surroundings could not be improved on anywhere. I would recommend The Lodge to anyone needing the same care as my brother.
