View Full Details of The Manor House GosforthFor over two years I have regularly visited my friend whom I have known for sixty-five years. When she was going to be moved to residential care I was quite upset. However, when I made my first visit I was relieved to find she would be well cared for in a cosy, homely and friendly atmosphere. Since then, I have always been welcomed with a friendly greeting or smile by management and other members of staff. There are many activities and outings arranged for residents, family and friends are invited to social events. I can't thank everyone enough. Some of the social events that family and friends are invited to are: Garden parties, Carol Services, some of which residents are linked with other groups in the choir. Carol singing around the Christmas Trees in the garden. Theme nights - very sociable events, and good fun. We have been to Greek, Italian, Indian, Mexican etc. Last year 'The Burns Night' included a 'Piper' who piped in the Haggis, tartan was worn and singing enjoyed. Such activities have not just been good for residents but for family, friends and staff.
My mother moved into The Manor House in October 2024 for respite care after a fall and a hospital stay. She is now looking at it being a permanent resident. She has settled in well due to the kindness and professionalism of the staff, the comfort and standard of her surroundings and the excellent food.
The staff are all great and the environment within the home is fantastic. Mum is cared for in a very compassionate way and enjoys being in the home. There is a good choice of meals. There is no pressure to engage in activities but there are a good variety of events available.
Manor House is an exceptional care home. My mother became a resident in January 2024 and l have nothing but praise for how she has been welcomed into the home and cared for throughout the year. The special efforts made at Christmas time were l am sure appreciated by all those who were unable to join their families for the festive period. The quality of the accommodation is equivalent to a 5-star hotel. The bedrooms are spacious with quality furniture and fittings and to be able to sit in beautifully decorated lounges or have a coffee or cocktail in the Cafe Bar makes visiting very pleasurable. The grounds are very well looked after, bringing colour and peace of mind to the residents. Manor House is well-managed and the caring ethos permeates throughout the home. Well done Manor House.
The genuine care and kindness provided by the staff was exceptional. My sister and I were so grateful that our father was able to spend time enjoying the delicious food and partaking in the quizzes and games and enjoying the staff and residents sense of humour. Thank you to the managers and the whole team who went beyond - we will be forever grateful.
This care home was truly first-class. My father really enjoyed his time at The Manor House and was incredibly supported always. We could not wish for a nicer place for his twilight years and the attention to detail was fantastic!
Mum recently stayed at The Manor House for a few weeks following hip replacement surgery. From the moment Mum arrived she was wonderfully looked after with such care and consideration. Due to complications following the surgery doctors and nurses had to be called upon and the Manor House dealt with this speedily and effectively. All care staff were delightful, happy, and above all caring and we could not have asked for more. Thank you to everyone for getting Mum back on her feet (literally!) and we would have no hesitation in recommending the Manor House to anyone.
I stayed at The Manor House for a period of respite care, following hip replacement surgery. My stay was better than I'd expected in many aspects and much as I'd expected in others. As an overall summary, I'd say the experience staying there was a very pleasant one. The food was well presented and of good quality. The general appearance of the internal of the building was first class, with tasteful furnishings and decor. My only criticisms surround the laundry system, which seemed to be a little unreliable at times and the bed, which I found to be too firm, although I realise this is very much a personal matter. The staff that I met were good, efficient and good-humoured. My experience was very positive and if/when I have further surgery to replace my other hip, I will most certainly be hoping that I can once again stay for a period of respite care.
My mother has stayed at The Manor House on 3 occasions and as a family we have been delighted with the care she has received which was 1st class. The warmth of welcome that was extended to her each time she has stayed was heartwarming to witness and Mum was clearly touched by this and all the kindness shown to her by all the staff during her time at The Manor House. I would thoroughly recommend The Manor House for respite care for much-loved family members, it is a really wonderful place to be and to visit.
We needed to find our relation respite care straight from hospital at quite short notice and the help we received from the management team to get the care in place at The Manor House Gosforth was excellent. They expedited the process very effectively so that the room and service were available within a few days of my initial enquiry. All the staff were very welcoming, friendly and professional and the premises are beautiful with excellent facilities and cleanliness. There are many activities on offer and although my relation did not want to take part, that decision was respected but regularly offered in case she had changed her mind. Overall, I don't think we could have asked for more as a home-from-home.
Stayed for respite care. The staff are very kind and caring. I would definitely go back for respite again. The food was gorgeous. There is a good range of menu choices to meet everyone’s needs. The room was lovely, as was the restaurant and coffee shop area. Everyone was very accommodating.
Feels more like a country house hotel than a care home, very comfortable with excellent facilities and great food. The staff are all very friendly and capable and dad enjoys the activities which as quizzes and mobility fit classes. Excellent all round.
We have experience with several homes in the area. The Manor House, Gosforth is far and away the best we have ever been in. From the care standards they apply in all areas for the benefit of residents (which are non-negotiable!) to every aspect of the physical environment they excel. I don't think we need to say any more.
The team at Manor House are quite exceptional with the support and care they provide to all residents and visitors. They organised a lovely Japanese evening recently when residents and family members all joined together to have a beautiful reception and meal together. The team had dressed the dining room with Japanese-themed products and the chefs provided an exceptional meal. None of this would have been possible without the support of the events team in Manor House. Thank you to the team who continue to involve residents and enhance their experiences.
My mother has lived in the Chester’s unit for almost 9 months, following a stroke. During this time, she has been extremely well cared for by the staff there, who are patient and kind at all times. They are welcoming to her visitors, offering tea/coffee and even wine. She is part of a choir that meets weekly, has been taken on a number of day trips to various places, as well as participated in crafts, exercise and singing performances. The quality of the surroundings is superb, including her room, the public areas and the lovely gardens. The level of detail with which the whole home is managed is excellent and senior management is always available to discuss concerns, offering strategies to resolve any minor issues. I have personally visited over 12 care homes in the area and this one is, by far, the best that I have seen. We are grateful for all the care our mother receives at The Manor House.
I stayed for two weeks to convalesce after an operation. It is a great place to recuperate. Food excellent, staff friendly, helpful, and obliging. The Manor House Gosforth is beautifully appointed and it was a pleasure to stay there.
All of the staff are exceptional, being welcoming, caring, attentive, patient and respectful to residents and visitors. The food is varied, fresh and looks and smells fabulous. To stimulate residents, activities are organised daily and include arts and crafts, exercise and chi, live music, guest speakers and mini-bus outings. Participation is encouraged but is optional, if residents choose not to participate, their decision is accepted and respected, as it should be. The home and grounds are immaculate and whilst the quality of care has to be the primary focus when placing a relative, the environment forms part of that care. It has to be clean, bright, comfortable, stimulating and safe. My view is that if staff take the time to ensure that the environment is well looked after, they will take the time to ensure that the residents are well looked after and that is definitely what I have seen in Manor House Care Home. If I was looking for a home for myself, it would be Manor House.
My aunt has been a resident for 20 months. She became ill at the age of 99 and now suffers from severe short-term memory loss, making independent living no longer possible. As her attorney, I accepted a place at The Manor House and feel extremely fortunate that this was possible at a time made even more difficult by the Covid crisis. The building and grounds are immaculate, but it is the level of care which makes The Manor House outstanding. The senior staff are accessible and reassuringly professional and I have huge respect for all the carers who are looking after my aunt with sympathy, good humour and patience. She doesn't understand or accept her loss of independence so all these qualities are tested regularly. I would not hesitate to recommend The Manor House to anyone looking for a Residential Home.
The Manor House, Gosforth is an extremely well-led residential care home. It is always a pleasure to visit Mam in such a warm and friendly environment. The staff have made Mam feel happy and safe which in turn has made the family feel reassured that The Manor House is the perfect place for her care.
The care provided by the staff is excellent. My father has dementia but is treated with respect, and they really care for him.
