View Full Details of Mayflower Care HomeMy dad has Vascular dementia and after a traumatic experience with another care home the moment I contacted the Mayflower the kindness and compassion from that first phone call was second to none. The staff are all warm and professional to all residents and their families and have been supportive and reassuring to us through this difficult time. I cannot praise the staff enough for all they do for my dad and the other residents who are all treated with dignity kept clean and well fed. I would not hesitate to recommend the Mayflower.
My husband has been a resident in Mayflower for quite a few years and the care he has received has been very good/excellent. The staff whom I have a very good connection with are very caring and easy to talk to if I have any questions they will be answered.
My husband has been in Mayflower care home for 9 months. The care they give him is exceptional. The staff are always polite, caring and very friendly. The meals always look very appetising as well as many snacks in between. The entertainment staff are fantastic. I'm more than happy with the care my husband receives. Everyone goes above and beyond to help and support my family.
I cannot rate The Mayflower highly enough since my father with vascular dementia has been in the home, the care from the staff is outstanding and nothing is too much trouble and my dad settled so quickly thanks to the staff. We know his medical needs are fully met and feel happy that he is safe and extremely well looked after. The home is clean and fresh to the end degree and does not smell like some homes do. The food is also outstanding and like being in a hotel with choices of breakfast, meals and snacks! I would love the recipe for some of the dinners and desserts my dad has! As I help him to eat as he has difficulty seeing, so all I can say is thank you and keep up the amazing service you provide.
My brother was moved to Mayflower from another care home that could not cater for his needs. I cannot get to visit very often and thought about moving him nearer but having seen how happy and settled he is have decided this is the best place for him. My brother no longer recognises any of his family. I have found the carers and nurses here to be so lovely. I can ring and speak to them anytime and they always reassure me. I have no worries. He is in the best place.
The staff are great, very friendly and helpful and I am very pleased with the care my husband gets. There are various types of activities, and they have singers every so often, the staff also take a couple of residents out to lunch if they are able.
I am pleased to say that since my husband was admitted last May he has continued to receive excellent support and care. The staff are so good with him and it gives me peace of mind knowing he is in safe hands. I went to my daughter for Christmas and for the first time, I relaxed knowing that he was safe. When we had our 65th Wedding Anniversary the Staff prepared a little celebration for us. It is these little touches that make all the difference and make us feel we are part of an extension of our family. When I am asked about the Mayflower I always tell friends how good you are and I would always recommend you to anyone who asks. Thank you again to all of you for doing one of the most difficult jobs and managing to keep a smile on your faces.
The staff at Mayflower provides a wonderful service and are very good at communicating with me as I live some distance from the home and am unable to visit. The carers do a great job when dealing with some very challenging people who need help.
Dad has been treated with care and compassion with the care staff showing plenty of patience with his behavioural changes. Is always clean and tidy. Enjoys the food and the variety of a quality menu. Always kept informed on any issues. Feel relaxed knowing Dad is being cared for in a nice home.
My dad has Vascular dementia and has been at the Mayflower for three years. It has been a difficult journey for us as a family but the Mayflower have been consistently supportive and I feel that my dad is receiving good, understanding care. I don't live close enough to visit more than once a week but I am able to use the relative's online link to keep informed of what is happening with my dad, and I find the communication to be really good with the nurses on his unit. I know a lot of the staff through visiting my dad and many of them have been there for a long time which is a good sign, ensuring consistency of approach. Many thanks to all staff - it's such an important and challenging job.
The team at the Mayflower go that extra mile in the care they provide to the residents, the staff are professionally trained in dealing with Dementia and all the presentations and ensure the residents are well looked after. The choice of menu and catering for specific dietary needs is marvellous and we are so happy with how Dad has settled in with them. I really like the portal as well, it is a great way to keep in touch and share information and pictures with family members who live abroad and are not able to visit on a regular basis. They also care and empathise with the families and help them along the journey as well. Many thanks to all the team and the great work that you do. It is so appreciated by the family.
My mum is in a caring and supportive setting that encompasses her full wellbeing. The staff are warm and friendly to all the residents as well as their families. The activities that are set enrich their lives and include their families. My children and I talk with the other service users and my grandchildren also enjoy visiting in their dressing up costumes. It is reassuring that there is an open-door atmosphere as we can pop in and out with our fob so there is nothing hidden. We have been fortunate to do more with Mum than we were able to do for a long time. The communication is good and as a family, we are grateful for the care they give to my mum and us.
My brother has been in Mayflower Care Home for just over a year and is very happy there. The staff are second to none in all departments from catering to nursing to activity team to maintenance laundry front office all cannot do enough for the residents and relatives. I am more than confident that he is well looked after and cared for. I have no hesitation in recommending the home to anybody who is thinking of putting their relative there. The whole team is led by the manager who is absolutely brilliant and all staff make time to speak with a relative or resident. The home has made additional improvements and has more plans for the future.
Overall very pleased with the care my dad receives, all staff are friendly and go out there way to please, the home itself is a very clean environment and spacious for the residents to move around in, and the rooms for residents are from home to home.
My husband has been in Mayflower Care Home for more than two years now, and throughout the whole time, his care has been very good. The staff are so very caring and supportive both to my husband and to myself. Recently he had a spell of time in hospital and on his return he was welcomed so warmly. Although he is now no longer able to function as he did before being hospitalised, the staff still are so attentive and encouraging towards him. Both my husband and I are treated by the staff as part of the Mayflower family, and I cannot thank them enough for everything they do.
The care my husband receives is excellent. The staff are professional and caring. Rooms are basic but comfortable. Food is lovely and the clients have a choice. There are often events like singing, quizzes etc.
Mayflower take great care of my father's challenging needs, it really takes a special person to show such dedication to their work and there are plenty of staff that do that day in day out. Thank you.
My husband was admitted to Mayflower as an assessment patient by the NHS. He has advanced dementia and he had fractured his ankle in a fall at home. After a period of time he was admitted to Mayflower. He settled in very well and my son and I when we visited him found him happy and settled. The staff were caring not only to my husband but also to us. They were patient with him and understood his needs even when he was sometimes stubborn about their trying to help him. Our only concern was that he had been placed so from his home and we could not visit him as often as we could have wished.
My wife has vascular dementia, she was admitted to to the care home in March 2024. Most of the staff who answer the phone are rude (when they answer!). She's been assaulted by another patient twice and all they do is try and cover it up, well I'm not buying it. Picked her up the other day and there was urine in her toilet on the floor! So please please please avoid it at all costs!
The staff kept in communication when waiting for the room and when available, stressful and upsetting transition but the staff was caring and supportive. Better comms on what to expect or how it works (FAQs) would be helpful e.g. getting in and out fob, app to see updates etc. as had to learn along the way and advise others. Staff support and care were excellent for Mum and the family, really got to know her and what she needs e.g. outings and exercise. Offer advice, listen to concerns and make improvements (actions, not just words) whilst giving time/respect for us to decide. Key consistent staff, invaluable, great trust in them doing the best for Mum. Mum feels comfortable and safe. Love how the home has life, noise, activity and a positive atmosphere, not just sterile and a quiet environment. Great team, good leadership with real care.
