View Full Details of Oak House Care HomeMy Mum moved to Oak House during the first Covid lockdown. It was a difficult time as we were unable to view the home before her moving in and were unable to visit. The staff were wonderful-I was sent videos and pictures of Mum's room which looked lovely and pictures of Mum looking happy and settled. A lot of effort was made by the home to facilitate safe visits when the restrictions were lifted and it was clear to see that Mum was being very well cared for. All the staff I have encountered at Oak House are friendly and interact brilliantly with the residents. You can see that the residents like the staff who care for them so diligently. Mum has sadly had to move on from Oak House due to her condition becoming more complex. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Oak House to anyone seeking residential care. I thank all the staff for caring for Mum so excellently and always keeping me informed and involved. A special thank you to the care home manager, who goes above and beyond.

Have been very happy with my dad coming here. The care is faultless as the staff is what makes Oak House a welcoming place for residents and family. Having changes to the building but can see it will help visits and function's in the future. Always a choice of meals. My dad has become more stable from the care at Oak House. If my family have issues we talk to the staff or management. They are dealt with. Very happy.
Communication with Oak House is excellent, I am always kept up to date with my aunt's health and wellbeing. The home is comfortable, some improvements have been made and are also in progress. The residents always appear well dressed, nourished and entertained. My aunt can be difficult to deal with and fortunately the staff are excellent at diffusing situations and provide support and encouragement to the residents. The only negative is obviously the care home fees but I appreciate everything they do for my aunt.
My mum has been a long-term resident at Oak House. She receives exemplary care from every single person who works at the home. Whenever I visit there is always a nice atmosphere there and a friendly welcome. I know that caring for my mum can be a challenge but she has been cared for with a lot of patience, and good strategies have been put in place whenever behavioural issues have been encountered. The food always looks wonderful aswell! I cannot speak too highly of the team and I will be forever grateful to them for caring for my mum so very well. Thank you.
My mother has been a permanent resident at Oak House. The staff and management always keep me updated regarding my mother as she has not been in the best of health lately they check her blood pressure and sats and call the doctor if they suspect a water infection. They see to all her personal needs as well. Since my mother has been a resident I can feel assured as I know my mother is been looked after 24 hours a day and night they also have activities in the day to keep her stimulated. Great location as well the local park across the road and plenty of pubs and shops nearby if I take my mother out for a couple of hours. The staff and residence are like mine and my mother's extended family.
My father has settled in well at the home, he is well cared for and all his needs are met. I receive excellent communication from management and staff regarding appointments, health and well being. I feel peace of mind knowing my father is safe and cared for so well.
Excellent care home, nothing is too much trouble, wonderful staff. Can't thank them enough. Special thank you to all the staff. Everyone is so wonderful. My kindest regards.
My nan has settled really well in there such a lovely home, and friendly staff. My nan really enjoys having her hair and nails done every week in the hairdressers, getting pampered every week really cheers her up. Can't thank the staff enough, how great they are, there are a lot of activies going on for all the residents which is great too.
My dad is a permanent resident at Oak House and all the family are very pleased with the level of care and attention that all the staff show to him, he is well looked after by a very professional team and he and we can't be happier. Since being at Oak House his physical and mental wellbeing have improved.
My father was a resident at OakHouse for five months, and the level of care he received was superb. As a family, we were always kept informed of how he was and if anything had changed regarding his well-being. The facilities and location were excellent, and he enjoyed the food (the chef always gave him extra portions if he wanted them!). If you are thinking of a care home for a loved one in the Cardiff area, then I would definitely recommend considering it here.
Due to my sister’s age and needs, she is in her 80’s with a learning disability, I had to place her in a care home. I chose Oak House Care Home as it had been recommended to me by a resident's sister. My sister went in there in January 22, due to Covid it was 2 months until I could see her, and although I phoned I was desperate to see her. I could not believe how happy she was, talking nonstop about the lovely place that she now lived in. I had never seen my sister so animated, wasn’t interested in coming to visit the family, she enjoyed our visits but couldn’t wait for us to go, so she could go back with her friends. The care from the staff was first class, my sister was treated with dignity at all times and she looked on the staff as her friends, she thrived on the attention she was given. Management was there to listen and reassure me and couldn't be more helpful and understanding. This home gets a 10 out of 10 from my family. Thank you Oak House.
Well-managed and efficiently run home. My sister and I have visited the home a number of times since my mother took up residence. We have both been made very welcome on each visit by the staff and have been very pleased to find our mother enjoying a good level of care each time we have seen her. The home provides a good level of activities with a dedicated activity staff member. This has been important for my mother. It has been her choice to move from her home to a residential home, as she could no longer deal with the anxiety of independent living and the lack of company, as she has always been a very sociable person. Even though we both live far away, I don't feel I have to visit her regularly to assure me she is receiving a consistent standard of care. I have been alerted on a few occasions by phone and email by Oak House staff when there has been any cause for concern which has given me great comfort and confidence that my mother is in a safe and secure environment.
I find Oak House to be friendly and welcoming. They are always happy to help with questions and they always keep me up to date with what is going on. They can't do enough for my brother, his welfare is their only concern. They always go the extra mile for him.
I find the care given to my sister-in-law is excellent. She is always dressed well, even colour-coordinated. She likes to look nice. She seems happy and contented. The carers are pleasant and welcoming and go out of their way to help you.
I find the care provided to my mother to be of a very high standard. The care staff are kind and helpful. There is always a nice atmosphere in the home. The manager and deputy manager are professional whilst still being friendly and approachable. Any concerns are dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner. The home is always clean and tidy, and my mother's room is always clean and fresh. I cannot fault anything about Oak House.
I am very happy with the care my mother is receiving at Oak House Care Home. She has come along with her health. She is always happy whenever I come to see her. She always says good things about the staff. The staff are very nice and they go out of their way to make sure she has everything she needs. She also made lots of friends. I could not wish for a lovely place for her to stay. Thank you to all staff.
On Friday 8th November 2019 I visited my cousin at Oak House. On meeting my cousin I noticed a smell of body odour, I asked if she had been showered that morning, answer - she gets up early so the night staff 'could have showered her'. On Sunday 3rd November my cousin had fallen in her room and broke her collarbone, asked where the sling was, answer we have tried 6 times and she keeps taking it off, asked if I could try and get her to keep it on, they did not know where the sling was, not in the office, found it in my cousin's room. I could not work out how to put on the new style slings, neither could the staff, so they looked it up online and found the instructions. Noticed two rings missing, asked if they had been put away for safekeeping after her fall, could only find one in the safe. Went to my cousin's room, there was very little shampoo in the bottle, no soap, no shower gel, no deodorant, could not find any of the four hair brushes she has. These toiletries are taken to my cousin on a regular basis and the home has been asked if she runs out of anything please inform us, or could they please purchase and take monies out of my cousins pocket money which is held at the home. Sunday 10th November my cousin had another fall and spent the night in the hospital.
My father is very happy here. His care needs are met in a timely and appropriate manner. In the two and a half years he has been here, my brother and I have been satisfied with Oak House as his care provider. Whenever we have had any reason to discuss anything, the team have been accommodating and thorough. We hope dad's requirements do not diminish into something more challenging and that he can spend the remainder of his days enjoying the service.
