View Full Details of Hallmark Alexandra GrangeI find that all the help I need is is given kindly and gently. The whole team is excellent.
My mum has now been a resident on the Dementia floor for over 6 months. She has settled in very well and her quality of life has been enhanced by the care provided by the team at Alexandra Grange. The staff are friendly and approachable. Feedback is encouraged on all aspects of the care provided - both one-to-one and also in regular relatives meetings. My mum speaks very highly of the care she receives and enjoys the social environment created by the team.
My mother went into Alexandra Grange with Parkinson's and Lewy Bodies Dementia. Mum immediately made good progress, this was a combination of good food, excellent care, and support from wonderful staff including the leadership team. Without exception, I would recommend this home to anyone considering residential or dementia care. I have to give them 10/10 on everything!
I was extremly happy with the care given to my sister during her 20-month stay.
My mother had an extended stay (over a year) in Alexandra Grange. She received exemplary care which was challenging given her advanced Semantic Dementia, a horrible progressive disease where the brain slowly loses function. The staff were very professional and kept my mother clean and well fed, despite her loss of function and appetite. For an extended period, she was immobile and relied on being placed in a wheelchair to join other residents in the communal areas.
Mum was a resident at Alexandra Grange for the last, quite difficult months of her life. From the very beginning, I felt fully supported by the staff who made this difficult journey so much more bearable. Communication was excellent, care was delivered with the utmost kindness and sensitivity and myself and other members of the family were always made to feel most welcome and never a nuisance. The home was always spotless, tidy and well-presented and there were always plentiful supplies of coffee, tea and cake in the cafe. Mum loved having her hair and nails done every week and this really cheered her up, as did the weekly visit from babies and toddlers. She received excellent medical attention throughout, with weekly opportunities to see a doctor. Alexandra Grange was Mum's choice of home, and I feel that it was a wise and sensible one.
Mum (who recently passed away) lived at Alexandra Grange for over a year. The staff at the home are a great team who strive to give residents the best possible life. There is a weekly set of activities ranging from art, flower arranging, board games and baking. Days themed around different countries happen monthly. Most weeks there is a mums and babies session that residents look forward to. Trips out for residents though are rather few and far between. Something that could most definitely be improved. The food is excellent and family members and friends can have meals with residents- at a cost. Residents are encouraged to bring items from home to personalise their rooms. This is a care home, not a nursing home which means that complex care needs can't always be met as a resident ages further. The home is reasonably well led and a GP visits weekly. The home offers hairdressing, nail care and podiatry included in the fees. There is also dental care available with a visiting hygienist (extra cost).
Having had a month of respite back in August, it was a clear favourite of my mum's when returning for a full-time care position. Nice welcome and the staff were pleased to see Mum. This helps enormously with the transition from home. All staff seem caring, and easy to deal with and Mum seems as settled as I could hope for. Thanks.
I have made friends here and I'm very happy and content. The carers are very caring and supportive.
The decision I made in 2022, Alexandra Grange Care Home. The best decision I made. Also, family and friends are happy too. I have made great friends, lots of laughter. I can't thank the staff etc. enough.
My experience of Alexandra Grange goes back to my husband's stay and, sadly death, several years ago and also my own stay from time to time when I decided to retire from a busy world and live my retirement here for the rest of my days. I am happy here and love it still. Thank you all.
Sorry to change my lifestyle, but could not have made a better choice with my new life, which I am happy and content. The home has been my extended family.
My 90+-year-old cousin moved into care at Alexandra Grange nine months ago. The home impressed her, me and other relatives when we viewed it. The admission process was smooth and handled with sensitivity and warmth. The care since then has matched those high standards, with my cousin being treated as an individual, respected and valued. The staff are excellent and provide excellent care. The food, facilities and activities are all good. My cousin's health has improved since she moved into Alexandra Grange, and there is excellent support from the doctors and other staff from the Health Centre. As well as my relative's care, family and friends feel welcome when visiting. As my cousin's next of kin and Attorney, my questions or concerns are always listened to and given a positive, helpful and timely response. I'd be happy to be in Alexandra Grange myself if I needed care though hopefully not for a few years yet.
Pleased with the arrangement generally which was for respite care. Generally, it is very good on all counts but meals could be served on time and would like less minced food and less overcooked. The staff were friendly and helpful and excellent.
As soon as I entered the home, I got a good vibe and knew it would be a lovely place for my mum to be in. Mum has settled in well. She has a lovely ground-floor room with her own patio, which is lovely in the summer. The staff are all excellent to her and the family and always happy to help us with any queries. The facilities are great, and Mum loves to have her hair and nails done each week. All in all, the some is a great place and more like a hotel than a home.
My father was at the home for four weeks of respite whilst I was abroad. In arranging his stay, the staff were very helpful and friendly, giving reassurance and clear information. The home looks lovely, well maintained and cared for, with facilities on each floor and felt like a hotel. The move-in was straightforward and easy for me to prepare. My father had previously spent four weeks in a different home as part of a hospital discharge package and had not had a good experience, so was wary. However, it was very different at Alexandra Grange in all aspects, and I had no qualms about leaving him there. He was made very welcome and said that the facilities and staff were excellent. Everyone was so kind, and nothing was too much trouble. He took part in some of the activities, which was good to hear. Sometimes, the food was not quite as the menu suggested. I hope to be able to use the home again for respite.
My mother is well looked after and very happy residing at Alexandra Grange Care Home. The team are passionate about their work and the care and happiness of all the residents. I am regularly updated with events and activities which are happening and I'm invited to attend when I can. I believe both my brother and I made the right decision when choosing Alexandra Grange for our mum.
My friend has been resident for almost a year. From the moment she moved into Alexandra Grange Care Home her self esteem returned. She is both joyful and grateful to be a resident. She participates fully in daily activities and has made many new friends. It is always a pleasure to visit. I would like to cite my friends birthday celebration. Alexandra Grange Care Home staff went above and beyond. I helped my friend invite 20 old friends. Alexandra Grange Care Home allocated a private lounge, decorated it with banners and balloons and provided at a very modest price, the most scrumptious buffet. A stupendous effort! My friend was utterly overwhelmed. The standard of care given by all the staff from office, reception, maintenance, catering, laundry, beauty and carers is first class. She thoroughly enjoys the choice of food and the social dining, not to mention weekly hair do and nails! My friend was even able to attend my wedding as Alexandra Grange Care Home provided an escort to support her throughout the whole event. Considering our experience over the past 12 months, I rate Alexandra Grange Care Home 10/10.
We visited Alexandra Grange when it became clear that my Mum could not go home after a prolonged stay in hospital. From the start the staff at Alexandra Grange went out of their way to welcome us, answering our many questions and providing support and understanding. The level of care is second to none: from the professional nursing and care staff to the excellent food, the varied range of daily activities and the comfortable and homely facilities. Alexandra Grange is a warm and positive community where Mum has been able to settle in quickly.
We were very pleased with the care my father received during his stay at Alexandra Grange Care Home. We always received a warm welcome from the members of staff on reception. The nurses and carers were very kind and attentive and happy to spend time discussing my father's progress. All areas in the home were clean and tidy, and there always seemed to be a cheerful atmosphere among the residents at the home.
