View Full Details of Kirkwood Court Care HomeMy step father has been in the home for 2 years now, and we were happy to leave him here, knowing he was going to have the best care needed. The staff are amazing and treat everyone with dignity and care. He enjoys the food, only thing he complains about is the battered fish and chips. So overall 5 star. Thanks to everyone for taking care of him its much appreciated. xx
Coffee morning excellent, very nice food staff really good as always. Mam enjoyed herself.
My father became a resident at Kirkwood Court at the start of February 2025 and as a family we couldn't be any happier with the care he is receiving within the care home. The staff and management always have a welcoming smile on their faces, the building is always spotlessly clean and my father, who is now 93 years old is being looked after with the utmost compassion and care by such wonderful, friendly caring staff. Thank you!
I would just like to say the quality of care for the residents at this home is first-class. My dad has been a resident for over 18 months and the staff are brilliant with him. The home is beautiful and gardens are lovely. The activity coordinator is fabulous (Dad baked his first cake, he's 90 next year). Nothing is a problem for the staff and they're always there to help. Thank you for caring for my dad as it's so reassuring knowing he is well looked after.
Thanks to our Activities Organiser and our Driver, for a lovely bus trip today to play ten-pin bowling, lunch, a tub of coins for the slot machines followed by ice cream and a drive back in time for tea!
The big issue for our family was getting my aunt settled. She had lived alone for 40 years and coming into residential care was a very big change. Now in April, she is quite well integrated and starting to appreciate the activities and the companionship of other residents. In particular, she feels safe and comfortable.
Kirkwood Court is a fabulous care home. Staff are always courteous and kind. Noticeably a particular staff member always works her magic as an activity coordinator keeping everyone entertained. Never had an issue of any kind with my dad in this home.
The floor where my mum now lives at Kirkwood Court is a unique place. It is somewhere where one feels safe, can grow in different ways, have fun, enjoy friendships or be nurtured during challenging times. All the staff are exceptional. As Mum tells me every day when I call from Canada, where I now live, "everyone is so kind". Being here allows one to be the best version of themselves. Celebrating Mum's 100th Birthday here was the best.
After 18 months of visiting the home and spending six to eight hours per day there, it seems to me that staff spend a great deal of their time filling in residents' files when their time could be better spent looking after the residents themselves. Cleaning is also a cause for concern, for example, beds are not moved to clean underneath, bins in toilets are not emptied and beds are left un-made all day. I think that the staff do a wonderful job and 90% of them are caring and hard-working, unfortunately, paperwork seems to be one of the top priorities whereas the uppermost priority should always be the residents (please sort out or upgrade paperwork issues).
Mum has been a resident at Kirkwood Court Care Home for a year now and from the warm welcome she received on day one, up to now the care and support she has received from all members of the team has been exceptional.
My mum has lived at Kirkwood Court for ten months now, and she is well settled. She is very happy with the care she is receiving, she enjoys the food, and I know she is safe. I have only two occasions when I have had a slight concern, and these have been dealt with immediately and effectively. I have no hesitation in recommending Kirkwood Court to others - and did so just last week!
Overall, the care provided is excellent. There are lots of activities at Kirkwood for the residents to be part of if they desire. The food appears to be good. There could be more regular tea trolleys in the afternoon.
Another good month - plenty of activities going on this month - Guy Fawks, Halloween and now Christmas decorations. Staff all friendly, and a homely home.
Quite recently, obviously not enough members of staff, often agency people who do not know the resident. Most of the agency carers are foreign and communication is difficult. Hopefully, this situation will improve. Loving the lovely garden.
My arrival and stay at Kirkwood has been very good. Nothing is excellent, but the home and staff have been very good.
My experience living in my care home has been very good. Treatment has been excellent, treatment has been very, very good.
My dad has only been a resident in Kirkwood Court Care Home for one week but in this short time, the care he received is second to none. From the initial meeting with the manager, who is herself a very professional and caring person, to his initial first day with his introduction to the staff members. The staff are the most caring, friendly and lovely people I have met and are a credit to the care home. We, as a family, are so pleased with the care and compassion he has been given and hope he has a long and happy stay.
From the first day my mother-in-law went into Kirkwood, the relief and happiness were immense. The wonderful care started the minute she went in. To know she is very safe and very, very happy - it's fantastic peace of mind. This is all because of the amazing staff. They genuinely care for the residents.
Staff are always smiling and pleasant, very loving and caring towards residents. Mam is enjoying life again, mixing with people and having fun.
All staff have greeted me with friendliness and look after all residents with love and respect. My brother likes his new home and finds all the staff treat him well.
