View Full Details of Bassett House Care HomeMy mother received excellent care at Bassett House Care Home, we couldn't have asked for more. The carers were friendly and took care of Mum's needs very well. Her room was kept in a clean and comfortable manner and nothing was too much trouble.
I have no complaints, it's a really lovely place. The staff are very polite, the home is spotless. The nurses, carers and everyone that works in the home is really wonderful. I have been in the home at least once or twice a week, I've never met such lovely people at "Bassett House Care Home". They are all excellent people, no problems whatsoever. Lovely to meet them when I go over to see a patient. Excellent.
My uncle lived in Bassett House Care Home from September 2022 to March 2024. The care, kindness and respectfulness of the staff were exemplary. Everyone was so friendly to him and to the whole family. There were lots of different activities, and the staff tailored them to my uncle’s needs. For example, he loved music, so every day, after breakfast, they would play old songs for him in the dining room. Staff would always have a chat with him and encourage him to join in with the events going on. They also helped myself and my family understand how to deal with dementia and some of the issues that he had. The home was always clean, warm and welcoming, and we were kept informed of changes and plans for the future. I would thoroughly recommend this care home.
The service provided is good, any questions raised are answered promptly and with care. The staff are friendly and welcoming. On the minus side, more interaction with residents and more activities would be welcomed. The home is undergoing a refit and I think this will greatly benefit residents.
My mum was accepted at very short notice. On arrival, she was welcomed by the manager and senior nurse. From the onset, we were listened to and supported in every way. Her stay was relatively short but she was treated with care and dignity in her last days. I cannot fault the care she was given. Thank you.
Outstanding standard of care and kindness.
When my sister-in-law went into Bassett House, she was very poorly, not moving about much. After being at Bassett House, there was a marked improvement. She was much more alert and able to feed herself. The staff took time to speak to her and keep her clean and tidy. She enjoyed the entertainment, singing, fireworks, etc. Also, the staff made her feel wanted. Thank you so much for all you did for her.
Mum went for respite here for three weeks. The service to get Mum into Bassett House was quick and efficient. Nurse staff were excellent, but some carers would wander off and leave Mum in the bathroom for excessive periods, which resulted in her sorting herself out, which initially was not appropriate. Also, one member of night staff (female) was tough and did not respond to requests for a blanket, as Mum was cold. Generally however, the vast majority of staff were really kind and compassionate. The activities were good and engendered a 'we're all in this together' environment.
My mum has been at Bassett House Care Home for nearly three years and from day one, she had the best loving care at all times and treated with dignity. The last six months have been very difficult due to end of life. Mum passed away November 2nd 2023 and the nurse on duty held her hand until the end. They have been of great comfort to me and my sister. They are all amazing.
My brother and I have nothing but praise for all the staff at Bassett House for the care given to our sister. The ward staff were always kind and courteous towards her and showed great patience when required, the office staff all seemed aware of her condition and discussed her well-being when we visit. We were always made to feel welcome when we visited the care home by all the staff.
The 3 ladies did everything they were able to help me through a very difficult time. Nothing was too much trouble. The young people on the 2nd floor, although always busy, made time to care for my husband and for that I am grateful.
Very happy with the care and attention my mother receives from the staff. All staff are very friendly and give updates on my mother's health and care. Plenty of activities and entertainment for the residents.
It says leave a review for a particular month... I honestly can’t pick one month. My great gran went to this home, wow must be 3 years ago now. She was discharged from hospital severely underweight, incoherent and the outlook wasn’t good. 3 years on... she’s the bees knees. 99 years old, a good weight and cared for like a family member. She has bad days with age-related dementia yet even then staff keep her spirits high. The staff are like family to her and honestly they are like family to me too, they go much further to check you are ok with the adjustment to a care home for your loved ones. I’ve never seen a place so clean and at times had a nosey at the food trolleys and wow. The stigma of nursing homes needs to change, this place is brilliant, I just hope if I make it that far that I will be cared for with as much dignity.
My 91-year-old father made the decision to move into Bassett House after a heart attack left him unable to care for himself properly. After 18 months, he, and I, would say that it was the best decision that he ever made! The care is faultless. His room is more than adequate for his needs. The staff are amazing, friendly, welcoming and totally unflappable. Prior to the Covid restrictions the whole family were able to visit him at any time and always felt welcome. Since the "new normal" video calls have been set up and during the brief reprieve at the end of the summer, a special visiting pod was built by the very talented caretakers. We, as a family, are very fortunate that Dad has his own mobile phone and we can converse with him at any time; that said the communication from the home is very good. I can highly recommend Bassett House.
As a family, we are very happy with the service my brother receives at Bassett House. My brother is quite a poorly chap and as his illness is getting progressively worse his needs are greater. The care staff realise this and are making sure his needs are met on a daily basis. The one thing I really appreciate is I receive a weekly update on my brother's health, as the way it is at the moment with the restrictions of the Covid virus we have not been able to visit our brother. When my brother's health allows it the care staff give him the support he needs to talk to one of our family on the telephone. It is a great relief to know our brother is being cared for at Bassett House.
My wife was moved to Bassett House Care Home very suddenly in September 2020 from another care home, in the middle of a period of Covid quarantine and lockdown. I had to leave her and all her belongings at the door of the home like a home delivery parcel, which was very distressing for all. The staff of the home could not have been more caring and gentle with her then, and have been ever since. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. My MS-disabled and dementia afflicted wife can be scared of hoists and personal care - the home has put in place a regime where at least two help her and reduce stress and anxiety. During Covid, it has not been possible to visit my wife, but the care home staff have set up video meetings between my wife and the family to enable us to see each other and talk. All in all, I fell that my wife is at ease in Bassett House, and I feel she will be well cared for in the future in event of something unpleasant happening to me, whether minor, major or mortal.
My mum is 90 and has been living at Bassett House for over six years (it has become my second home also). The best recommendation I think I can give is that my husband and I think so highly of the care she receives and the approachableness of all staff and management that we requested my mother-in-law be transferred from another care home. In spite of these unprecedented times, all are working tirelessly to look after her, keeping me informed and in touch, especially as I am unable to visit due to lockdown. It’s a real comfort knowing she is in such a wonderful caring environment.
My husband was so well looked after and he was so very happy the time he spent there. All the staff were very kind and friendly. We were so very grateful.
My husband was in this home for 6 weeks, following an accident, for rehabilitation. The physiotherapist, occupational therapist and most of the carers were excellent but communication was very poor. The food was particularly bad.
My late husband spent the last weeks of his life in Bassett House. He was looked after with so much care and dignity. Myself and my family can't thank them enough. Not only did they look after my late husband they also made sure that I, my daughters, and granddaughters were ok. Absolutely brilliant.
