View Full Details of Lakeside Care HomeI would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Lakeside Care Home for the care and attention they gave to our Dad while he was a resident there. They were all so very helpful and he enjoyed his time spent there although it was only for just over a year. He made many friends both with the staff and residents and joined in with the activities he liked, there was never any pressure to do things he didn't want to. We were kept informed of any issues that occurred and they helped with any matter that arose if they were able, which we found very comforting. Dad passed away in a happy place surrounded by the wonderful staff who cared for him and ourselves, he is sadly missed but will be remembered as a friendly and affectionate person. We would have no hesitation in recommending Lakeside to others, with our thanks again to you all.
Dad had only been at the home since October 2022, but he was always clean and well looked after. My sisters and I all came together, from around the world, to be with Dad during his last few days at the home. We are so grateful to all the staff, they went above and beyond the call of duty. The compassion, kindness and empathy they showed us will always be treasured. The staff at Lakeside were as caring and compassionate as the staff who took care of our mother in her final days at another hospice. They are all to be commended for the wonderful unrelenting work they do every day. My sisters and I would highly recommend Lakeside Care Home for a loved one.
I am happy with Lakeside Care Home, my mum loves people around, she is happy, always smiling and likes the activities. The staff do a great job looking after my dear mum. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Very good care. Staff are consistently good and really care about the residents. Some things do go missing from my mum's room but otherwise, I'm very happy with Lakeside Care Home.
Lovely location, well-kept, modern facilities, and very caring and responsible staff. All the staff take a very conscientious approach to residents' safety and comfort, and in particular, they ensure medications are administered on time and correctly. On a very odd occasion, a particular medication may be missed or given late, and the staff always ring me to tell me about it. I find that close attention to duty very reassuring.
I looked at four homes and felt that Lakeside was the nicest of them all. Well done to the management and all the staff who look after her with care and kindness. Thank you.
My mother is always happy when I visit her and always says how lovely the staff are. She is well looked after and enjoys the activities the home provides. This last month she has enjoyed a visit from therapy dogs, a spa afternoon, singing, drawing, word games, St. Patrick's Day celebration, card games and much more. I am happy that Mum is being well looked after in the place she calls home.
Mum has really settled in well in the ten months she has been at Lakeside Care Home. The staff are really caring and Mum enjoys the food. The social media groups are so useful as I can see Mum joining in with all the activities; her dementia means she can't remember doing them, so it's nice to show her the photos. The gardens are lovely and we always walk around the paths in nice weather, it's such a useful space for residents who can't walk far.
I was very happy in Lakeside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was only there for five weeks' respite and will come back again. The only comment is the food was sometimes cold.
Lakeside is a good facilitiy, well laid out (eg, gardens and sitting rooms), clean and airy with friendly staff, always willing to give you time and listen. The staff are welcoming and cheerful, and it was good to get to know them a little. It was sometimes difficult to find staff to talk to on the floor when visiting. We were never offered information, eg "today your Mum ate well/poorly". Today your Mum did/attended. Mum was admitted to the hospital without us knowing; we had written that we would prefer her not to be admitted. We were very disappointed the home would not take her back after her hospital stay. We had not realised that terminal care would not be done. We were unprepared.
My mother had lived a very exciting but unsettled life, never really feeling "home". It did not take long, for the first time in her life, for her to settle into the security, reliability and kindness of Lakeside. I once asked if Malaya was her favourite place, and she looked straight at me and said "no" here (pointing to the floor); I feel safe and loved. My heart ached with happiness. Need I say more! Thank you, Lakeside, with all my heart.
My mother-in-law was placed at Lakeside for respite care. The home has/had a covid outbreak on the unit upstairs so mum was put on the dementia unit which I ended up having to visit regularly due to the fact that she became very low in the 15 days she was there. Nobody offered drinks or did a welfare check on my mum during my visits. We were outside in the garden on one occasion and not one member of staff made sure she had adequate fluids. We ended up drinking the cans of fizzy drinks that I’d brought her up to drink as a treat over the following days. Staff hardly engaged with the residents, only when needed and most were just sat in chairs falling asleep as there was no stimulation. I only see the activities team once and that was to give ice lollies out. Mum's water was hardly replenished or no cup to drink! Old food wasn’t removed from her room. I’ve been in care 8 years and would not recommend this service if you do want your loved one cared for.
My dad has dementia and has been a resident for 17 months, in this time I have found the service awful. On visiting his ward there was one carer on duty this is totally unacceptable on a dementia ward. No contact from home about his progress unless there was a problem despite asking for weekly on monthly updates. His belongings constantly go missing even though they are labelled. Communication with the home is awful. He has been asked to leave because of his aggression due to dementia but I would have thought because the home deals with dementia they would be used to it. Very pleased to be moving my dad to a different care home.
My mother has been at Lakeside since October 2016. She has received exceptional care and during the pandemic, I have been grateful to know that she is being kept safe. The staff are friendly, enthusiastic and caring and always ready to go that extra mile to ensure a comfortable and happy experience for the residents. In the normal way, there is a wide range of activities and many of these have continued during lockdown, including recently an outside concert.
Never had any reason to complain. Staff are always kind and helpful. My father can be awkward sometimes but the staff are always helpful and caring his needs are met at all times. The management are friendly and approachable.
Lakeside Care Home. All the staff are angels that attend to every and any personal need 24/7. The approach to Covid defence is compliant with current instructions, professional and consistent. The facility is modern, well designed with all private rooms having their own private en-suites. All floors are even and easily accessible plus secure. Easy access to stairs and lifts. Lounges and dining room on each level. There is a good visual outlook with lakeside views and gardens on-site and nearby. Affordable in comparison with the locality. Ample parking.
A well run and kind care home with very hard working staff, amazing that service standards haven't dropped given the Covid 19 situation. A home which genuinely cares and goes the extra mile and tries to accommodate where possible. Good for updates, great for managing residents and relative liaison, which wasn't easy pre-Covid let alone whilst in it. Lakeside - hats off.
I’d like to thank all of the staff looking after my sister in what was a very difficult and trying year for everyone. We obviously couldn’t visit in the normal way, but the staff have been extremely helpful with any questions/queries we’ve had even though they are all so busy. Thank you all for everything.
I cannot praise the staff enough for their help, support and care during Mum's suffering with Covid-19. Despite the challenges, they kept us in touch with mum and informed at every stage of her final illness. This really showed how they went the extra mile.
My mother was a resident at Lakeside from March 2018 until her death in May this year. Apart from a few minor occasions, we were very happy with our choice of Lakeside for her. She was treated with kindness and dignity. Whenever there was a problem, we were contacted promptly and kept up to date with her needs. Comments from the staff suggested to me that they understood her - and enjoyed her sense of humour, which is great. Minor issues were, for example, having to request two or three times for a haircut appointment - but, in the grand scheme of things, that wasn't important. What was important was the wonderful care given.
