View Full Details of Richmond House Care HomeMum never wanted to go in a home, but sadly it was not safe for her to stay at home alone anymore. After looking round locally at homes we decided on Richmond House. We felt Richmond House had a different feeling when you walk in. The staff are caring, friendly and helpful. Communication is great. Mum has settled in and we visit regularly. We are grateful to the staff who reassured us when I've been upset and concerned about Mums condition. I feel she's well looked after here. I can go back to being Mums daughter and not her carer anymore.
Richmond House continues to be run efficiently and effectively. The residents are cared for very well and are stimulated by many and varied activities. The staff are friendly and provide a great standard of care. The fees are high but are reflected in the exceptional standard of care, both physical and mental. I would definitely recommend Richmond House to anyone who requires dementia care.
My husband was a resident at Richmond House for one week's respite and I had every confidence that all his needs would be met by the staff. It is a very friendly environment and he seemed very relaxed and comfortable being there. It makes the transition from home to care home stress free knowing he is safe and cared for.
For me, the key thing that makes Richmond House stand out is the quality of care provided by the staff. They all have such a good rapport with my mum which makes all the difference. Second on the list is her bedroom which is lovely and clean with a good outlook towards the sea. Her family pictures on the walls make it her space which is all the more important with her reduced memory. Mum enjoys her meals too so thank you for that as well! Although it's not about us, we are always made to feel very welcome each time we visit. Thank you for all your good work.
Staff and carers looked after mum so well during her time with them. She loved the carers and was well looked after. All of the staff are helpfull and kind to the residents. I felt assured she was in the best place.
My mum has been a resident at Richmond House for over a year and a half. She always says how happy she is there. They do regular activities, the staff chat and interact with mum, and she often has her hair done and nails painted! The staff are kind and friendly and always update us with regards to mums care. She has a nice, big en-suite room which is clean and tidy. We visit regularly and are always made to feel welcome.
All members of our family are so happy with the level of care and the facilities provided to our mother by Richmond House. The care and attention our mother receives is second to none. We can honestly say that there has been a noticeable improvement in our mother's general awareness and demeanour since she took up residence. Every member of staff has been wonderful, nothing is too much trouble and everyone has a smile on their face. The place is always clean and tidy and the residents are engaged and involved with an activity every time we have visited. We have no hesitation in scoring every aspect of this review as excellent. We cannot recommend Richmond House highly enough. Our mother is treated as an individual, well looked after and happy to be there, what more can you say.
We cannot believe the change in our father since he returned home, we are so pleased that we decided to choose Richmond House for his respite stay while we were on holiday, it has proven to be the best decision we have made regarding dads health, he's back to the way he was 15 months ago, fully alert, having good conversations with him, and he's watching TV again. Before he stayed at Richmond house his mental health was deteriorating at a fast rate, but thanks to the management and staff at Richmond House he is completely changed him for the better. It is genuinely appreciated by all his family. A lovely clean home where the residents are very care for by lovely caring staff.
So happy with the care and attention that my wife is receiving at Richmond House. It is a very personal and caring environment for her. Attention to detail never spored. My mind is very much at ease knowing that she is so excellently looked after.
Richmond House's staff and residents have become our new family. Everyone is so kind and caring, always keeping the residents as their main priority. I am still adapting to my mum's illness and the transition of her moving into a care home but the staff have helped me so much and still do. They are always available with support and a hug. The environment is so bright and happy with many stimulating activities for the residents. Each resident is treated as an individual with the utmost dignity and respect. The cleanliness is of top quality standards and meals are the same. I am forever grateful to all of the staff. They are very special people.
The Richmond House team works together to provide a homely, supportive environment where residents are considered with dignity, cared for as individuals, and cheerful and attentive staff. The team effort is evident and much appreciated. Thank you all!
My impression of this care home is exactly what it says, care. Nothing is too much trouble. The place is clean. Plenty of activities going on that is why I chose this place. I can't comment on the food as I haven't seen it but my sister says it's nice. Reasons for good not excellent as the carpets and curtains are tired but to be expected.
When Mam was diagnosed as suffering from Alzheimer's, it was imperative that we quickly found a suitable care home able to deal with her condition. We visited several homes and were not satisfied but after a recommendation, we arranged to visit Richmond House where we met the manager and staff, inspected the facilities, rooms, and communal areas, and quickly realised that Richmond House was exactly what Mam needed, as they were able to provide high-quality care in terms of staff to resident ratio, experienced managers; a safe, purpose-built building, a warm, comfortable ground-floor en-suite room with certificates and awards to prove. In summary, we feel we were lucky that Richmond House had a suitable room available at a difficult time and that the care and compassion that both Mam and we as a family received, made a difficult and upsetting time much easier when we saw that Mam was soon settled and happy. Thank you so much Richmond House. Five Stars all day, every day!
This is an excellent home, very clean and the staff are friendly and welcoming, my mum loves it here. I highly recommend it as I can't say or speak highly enough regarding my mum's care and the integration with staff and the care towards visitors. First class.
Absolutely outstanding care was given to our family member during her respite stay at Richmond House. The staff are trained to the highest of standards nothing was ever a problem if you needed anything Amanda and the staff were straight on it we have used other care homes but nothing compared to here. Every single thing was so in-depth and done to the highest of standards our family member went in looking exhausted she came out like a new happy person more like her old self we are forever grateful to all the staff I can't thank them enough.
Moving a loved one into care is never an easy decision to make. Will the home be suitable? Will they settle in? Will they receive the right level of care? All questions were answered positively when my mother became a resident. I am unable to visit regularly, I reply on updates from staff and management and they've been very accommodating and understanding. For example, when my mother had to go to hospital recently, members of staff took it upon themselves to visit and check on her wellbeing. This was very comforting. I have nothing but praise and admiration for the staff and what they do.
As far as I know my husband's care was satisfactory but not enough encouragement to keep mobile. I always felt unwelcome and not involved in his care at all. Staff answers to any questions were contradictory or known to be untrue. Visiting allowed was disgusting and meant my husband often missed visits. By pre-booking only about nine visitors were allowed per day between 35 patients. Staff were not helpful in assisting with booking.
On the whole, the care home has very good standards. One of my issues is my mum's laundry is getting ruined. Everything that is white has turned pink or grey and looks awful. The telephone line is shocking and get cut off regularly. Some staff are not very helpful and I worry about communication barriers due to staff who speak broken English as my mother has very little hearing.
5 stars is not enough. Richmond House and its staff are unbelievable on every level. My mum is a resident there, and my father visited twice a week, they made him so welcome he looked forward to going to visit my mum and see the staff. I can never thank them enough. When my father passed I felt they not only had my mum in their care, but they have my back. I visited my mum on her birthday not long after my father passed and when I started breaking down, staff were there to support me. Yes, Richmond House is a lovely place, the staff are the beating heart of the place and do an amazing job, above and beyond. Amazing, thank you guys from the bottom of our family's hearts.
From the early days that my dear wife entered Richmond House Care Home, I have observed and felt proud to have witnessed the care, consideration and respect, given to and shown to all residents. Even throughout the dark days of the Covid period, every precaution was taken by Richmond House to safeguard residents and staff. I have the honour and pride to accept all staff as friends. Well done Richmond House.
