View Full Details of Diamond HouseThis was a fantastic care home which my father stayed in for just over 12 months before he passed away. He arrived in a distressed state after a hip operation, limited mobility and early stage dementia. Immediately the staff took care of him, showing great patience and empathy with his situation. They ensured he was comfortable there ate regularly and was always on top of his medication. Our family experience with the home and staff was very good. We received regular updates on how my dad was doing and if there were any issues they contacted us. They were truly amazing in his final week when he needed constant care and attention. An excellent location for people who need residential care. The staff are amazing. I would highly recommend.
Shocking from the day he was first moved in, everything was stressful to get anything done and saw some disturbing scenes, told social services about them and had meetings there with them, excuse after excuse, then my dad was attacked and left with a bad wound on his left arm. They refused me access to take him to accident and emergency and waited 48 hours until my dad's wound was infected to ring an ambulance. Before that they told social services and myself it was just a scratch which my dad had done by scratching himself which was not the case at all, said the hospital staff and was hospitalised for nearly two weeks. There is now a safeguarding investigation going on. My dad was seriously injured, this care home is absolutely shocking and should be put under special measures.
We visit every week and are always treated by cheerful polite staff. We have nothing negative to say about my husband's care, thank you so much. He seems very comfortable and we do not get a lot of sense out of him as the dementia has now set in. I still feel guilty about putting him in a care home but at 81 years I could not cope with him. Getting old is no great shakes I can tell you. I am so impressed with the staff at the care home and nothing seems too much trouble for them. I would definitely recommend the care home to anyone.
I would like to experience better telephone communication with mum. When I am unable to visit mum I like to give her a call. Getting through to the main office during office hours is good. However, getting put through to the upstairs lounge is not good often I have to hang up. Weekends are almost impossible to get through over the phone.
Overall the home does there best with difficult to deal with residents. All the residents seem fairly content with the daily care that they receive. It would be easy to criticise certain things that happen but my wife is being looked after 24 hours a day and I could not do that with her at home, and I have tried. I sometimes feel that my wife is bored with life in the home but as she is asleep a lot of the day I am not sure how it is possible to involve her in any activity to keep her awake in the day so that she would sleep better at night. I cannot fault the medical care from the doctor who visits every week and seems to address all the complaints promptly. The hairdresser is first class and the chiropodist is excellent, overall fairly satisfied.
On my visit to Diamond House I am always greeted by very friendly staff who always have the time to stop to answer any questions I may have. The atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxed and the relationship between the staff and residents is very positive and the staff relate to the residents with kindness and understanding, recognising their individual needs. My brother is extremely happy at Diamond House has a very good relationship with all staff and is never pressurised into anything he does not want to participate in.
The staff at Diamond House show a high level of compassion and care to my mum. They encourage her to take part in daily activities and help her to socialise with the other residents. Which has helped to keep her emotionally well. There is a real emphasis on it being her home and making her feel this way as it is a big change for her and us with her living in a residential unit. The staff are always very welcoming and all engage well with my mum and have a good understanding of how to calm her if she is anxious. This includes the kitchen staff, maintenance people and cleaning staff alongside the main workers and seniors. It has been a hard process having to accept I could no longer care for my mum but the staff at Diamond House have made this process so much easier and I am grateful for all that they do to support and care for her.
Great staff who are looking after my mother very well indeed. The accommodation is also very nice along with the rooms. The food variety is also second to none. We moved my mother from another care home into Sapphire House my mother is very happy and contented.
My mum has been a resident since late April and as a family we feel she has improved all round greatly. All the staff are very caring and management/admin staff are approachable at all times. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is that sometimes laundry items have not been returned and sometimes I have taken items home as washing has returned still stained. My mum tends to be too tired to participate in activities, but I have witnessed the team's hard work to create stimulation for residents. It is first class.
When I visit Diamond House I am greeted by very friendly staff, all very pleasant, and I get offered tea or coffee, and a slice of cake. Often when I am in my partner's room they knock on the door to ask if everything is okay and if there is anything he wants. My partner cannot praise them enough he is really happy at Diamond House.
We would like to thank all staff at Diamond House for their care, attention and love for Mum. She arrived about six weeks ago after a very lengthy stay in hospital. The consistency and kindness of the care have without doubt helped her to settle quickly into her new home. She looks very well, feels safe and is enjoying the social aspects of eating together and the daily activities. After a year of very poor health, it's a big relief to her family to see her so well and happy now. We hope she has many years at Diamond House enjoying life.
We, as a family, are very satisfied with our brother's care at Diamond House. He has been there for just over a year now and the care he has received is excellent. It helps that he is an easy going man but you can feel the affection that the staff have for him.
Our mother continues to settle in and seems more content with her surroundings. She is eating and sleeping well. She no longer asks to go home. Her room is outstanding and meets all her needs. The staff and overall atmosphere is excellent.
Overall we are very happy with Dad's care. He always seems happy and secure. The staff are always there to help when it is needed, always pleasant and friendly.
I find the staff friendly and helpful. They are informative about residents and are very approachable. I can see it is sometimes difficult with shortages of staff but they always do their best and are willing to answer any questions.
The carers are always there and happy to assist in anything you need to do. I am very happy and content here. I enjoy the activities and socialising with the friends that I have made here. I enjoy reading so I sit in my bedroom sometimes as it is comfortable and peaceful. I always feel included by all staff. I always feel safe and secure.
Reviews are always subjective and no two cases are the same. I know when I was looking for a care home for my mum the more reviews I could read the better because they were from people who would be in the same situation as myself. My mum was residing in the Sapphire Unit which is a new part of Diamond House so the overall appearance of the home and rooms is fresh and modern. The food is very good and there is always a freshly baked homemade cake each day. I got to know a lot of the staff and most of them were caring, kind individuals and my mum had a good relationship with a few of them in particular. However her stay was not without incident and when these issues were raised with the management, criticism was not taken well. I didn't see or get asked for input into a care plan and there was no wish to work through the issues that had occurred. If you are prepared to put up and shut up then this is a perfectly acceptable home. If not then I suggest you look elsewhere.
My mother only spent 18 months at Diamond House but she loved everything about it from her lovely bedroom to the staff and especially the delicious meals. The carers were so friendly and looked after her so well and always kept me informed of any changes. Her last few days were very quick but they couldn't have done more to make her comfortable and were very supportive of the family. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone.
I always find the staff very caring and helpful and my uncle seems to be well cared for. If there is a problem with him, they always contact me.
The carers are very helpful and caring with residents. Very friendly place. The food is excellent.
