View Full Details of Fellingate Care CentreSadly my husband has just passed away at Fellingate, I could not have asked for better care for him, he was on the nursing unit, the full team no matter what job they do are so caring, they welcome the family any time, I can not thank this group of very caring people enough. If you need care for a member of your family this is the place to go to, the care is second to none. Thank you all for looking after my darling husband so well.
Our dad come into this Care Home in December 2023. From the start he always said he felt at home. Staff were brilliant right from the start. The care he received was second to none. Dad was on floor 2. They were all very good and helpful to his family. Nurses, carers, cleaning staff and administration staff. Nothing was too much for them. Unfortunately our dad died their on 20th June.
I had no problems everyone was very helpful and friendly. Excellent care home.
My mam was a resident on the nursing floor for a week, on her being admitted into Fellingate she was treated with respect and dignity. The nursing team explained to myself and my wife the process of palliative care and end-of-life, each day they kept us informed of her condition. The nursing staff and careers were excellent, they gave us privacy when needed and a shoulder to cry on. Can not praise them enough, and would highly recommend this care facility.
My grandma received the best of care here at Fellingate, it felt like she was part of a big family, all the staff were lovely, and she has special bonds with them individually. Nothing was ever a bother and believe me, my grandma had some very random requests but the staff always came up trumps and delivered. She had names for them all which they embraced and loved talking to her hearing her broad Geordie accent. I always left after my visits knowing my grandma was well looked after and happy. This is paramount in my eyes. This review comes from the heart and I hope it helps family members looking for a home from home.
My mam was a resident for only two months on the nursing floor. The care she received was amazing. Not knowing anything of the care system, I was a bit apprehensive but there was no need as everyone was so helpful. Not only did they care for my mam, the staff were always asking if we were okay. I cannot thank them enough for the care given to my mam. The clinical lead is amazing.
My dad was a resident from January 2021 until his death September 2023. We were very apprehensive as Dad was admitted during Covid and at this point we were not allowed into the building due to Covid restrictions, however, a hub was provided in order to visit. My dad suffered from Vascular dementia as well as Alzheimer’s and could at times be challenging. My dad was treated with respect, was encouraged to be as independent as possible and allowed to have a say (as much as possible) in his activities of daily living. I witnessed the staff interacting with both residents and families, at all times they were polite and respectful. I can not fault his care, his appearance was always good and he quickly settled into Fellingate and regarded it as home. We were always made welcome and kept informed. As Dad became more unwell he was moved to the nursing ward, again he was cared for with genuine compassion. Fellingate provided exemplary care. I can not praise the team enough and would happily recommend this facility.
My mother spent the last three months of her life receiving wonderful care by the nursing team at Fellingate. The home manager and the matron were extremely kind and professional at a very difficult time, helping us with bureaucracy. She was in a private room on the nursing floor which had an airflow mattress bed to make her comfortable and an en-suite bathroom. They were able to get Mam released and transferred from hospital quickly so that she could receive more attention in a better environment. From day one all of the staff ensured Mam was as comfortable and settled as possible, that her dignity was maintained and that she had appropriate food and drink. Carers spent time talking with her and they complied with whatever she wanted. In her final days and hours they were wonderful with her and us as a family. We were given privacy when we wanted it and support when needed. I would definitely recommend Fellingate to anyone who finds themselves needing care for a loved one.
The carers are amazing. Very familiar with mam's needs. Always respond well to my requests regarding man's care. I am always kept up to date with any changes to mam's care plan. Carers treat my mam with dignity and as an individual acknowledging her dementia.
My dear friend was so happy with the standard of care she received. She loved the food and looked forward to meal times. She was happy to be included in any activities.
The carers at Felling Gate have been absolutely lovely with my friend. She needs 24-hour care and this is what she's receiving, we are really happy with her care.
we always feel very welcome when we visit and it appears clean, tidy and presentable at each time. The staff seem very helpful and the communication is always supportive and willing to please.
Overall good. But I think housekeeping could be better. Clean clothes put in dirty washing basket and left - not good! Recliner chair pushed up hard against wall so can't be used - not good. Just little things like that could be better.
Very pleased with my wife's care overall.
After a stroke that affected his speech and swallowing, we were looking for full-time nursing care for my 81 year old Dad. Fellingate was the 2nd place we visited, and as soon as we called in, we knew that this was the right place for him. The building is modern, and the rooms all have en-suite which was an important factor. During his 5 month stay, every member of staff made him feel comfortable and safe and treated him with dignity and respect. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them, despite the difficulties they deal with in their job. His care was palliative and the nursing care that he received at the end of his life was excellent. They went above and beyond what was expected of them. I asked my Dad if he was happy at Fellingate and he said "Oh yes" which was a great comfort to us at the end. All of the staff are not only hard working but they also manage to make this a happy home with a nice atmosphere for friends and family too.
The care home is a really nice and comfortable place to visit and the carers are very easy to talk to.
My aunt settled in quickly and is happy with the quality of care and attention she received from the staff. She has gained weight since arriving and her general health has improved as demonstrated by an ulcer on her leg healing for the first time in many years. Any security and heating problems which have occurred have been dealt with promptly and effectively.
My 80-year-old wife has been a resident since the 27th January 2013 after suffering two strokes whilst undergoing an operation to remove an active brain tumour on 9/11/12. My wife was not a well woman prior to her operation - time since then is "bonus time". She is now wheelchair bound and has no mobility in her legs and limited mobility in her arms and hands. She is now able to eat "solid" foods providing it is cut up for her. She is a good resident and a popular resident with staff members. My family thoroughly support the staff on this nursing 24/7 floor. My wife's care could not be better.
After spending two weeks in hospital with a broken hip my mum was lucky enough to find a home at Fellingate Care. The care and attention she received was second to none. The staff, from the seniors to the cleaners, were respectful, kind and treated her with dignity in her final years. In her final days, the help and support we received made this difficult time easier. We would not hesitate to recommend Fellingate Care to anyone with family members in need of loving care. This is not only a review it is also a thank you from all of us to everyone involved in my mother's care.
My mother is 93 years old and gets well looked after.
