View Full Details of Canterbury HouseExcellent care and service provided to my father (resident) when he stopped breathing and was admitted to hospital. All staff are so friendly and willing to assist my father.
My aunt has been there for 5 years. It has been a roller coaster course with good and not so good times. Many changes of management and staff and at times periods of inferior care and support. Happily I can say this has changed since the current management were instituted. There is a much better atmosphere and the staff now seem to have stabilised. It has become a far more welcoming place. There were times in the past when we really didn't enjoy visiting. There is a great activity programme and the residents have been empowered to decide what they want or don't want. The staff are so good dealing with my aunt and all her foibles and I do believe she is a lot happier. We have been very impressed and I can honestly say it is all down to the current management. I think some of the internal fabric needs a little updating, my aunts room could do with a lick of paint, needed since she moved in! Bathroom very compact for the cost! Somehow the staff manage, not easy! Communal rooms are great.
Within moments of entering Canterbury House I knew our dear mum would be in safe hands. The atmosphere is welcoming; the staff are friendly, polite and more than happy to help in any way they can. The kindness and care they show to their residents is exemplary. No one really wants their parent or loved one to go into a care home but if you find yourself in a similar to position to ours and there is no other option, you could not do better than visit Canterbury House and the wonderful team of staff there. The facilities are great, the home is decorated throughout to a very high standard and the food is yum! I can't thank Canterbury House enough for taking so much of the stress and worry away from what could have been a very worrying time for us all as mum made her transition to her new home. Thank you so much!
My father has been very well looked after, fed, and watered, the staff are excellent with him and look after him. The food is of a very high standard. I wouldn't have him anywhere else.
As a person without friends or relatives alive, after some research, it was a wise choice to select Canterbury House for me. I do not except anything, so I am not disappointed in anything.
My mum lived at the home for 6 years until she passed away. The day and night team have always been welcoming, I felt we had a good relationship and we all worked well together as one team making sure Mum's needs were met. The management are very approachable and always makes time to meet with you if there's anything you wish to discuss.
Both staff and management are very open to discuss concerns and will resolve if possible. There are monthly meetings with residents and their discussions are fed back to family members in a separate meeting. Our views and suggestions are taken into account along with the residents to improve their experiences in their home.
On the occasions I visited my Mother all the staff were more than helpful and went out of their way to offer exceptional care to my Mother. Management again could not have been more helpful and always kept us as a family informed on any changes to my Mothers's condition. And in her last few days acted with the utmost dignity.
Lovely care home, bright, open, spacious, and well-appointed. The food looked good and plentiful and most of the staff were very helpful and caring. My Mother unfortunately had a medical issue which impacted her respite stay preventing her from getting as much from the stay as possible. Residents all seemed happy and content. My only suggestion would be that we would have liked to have had more feedback on Mum's condition and how she had been and it wasn't always clear who was best to talk to and who was best placed to give feedback.
I have lived here at Canterbury House for just over 5 years and I am so happy here. I must say that the care and support that I have received have been exceptional. The home staff are wonderful. The home is spacious and clean and it has a very friendly and caring environment.
I observed that Canterbury House has had its ups and downs over a good few months, but I must say they have pulled out all the stops to correct the situation and are still continuing to get it right. I cannot fault the care and love that is given not only to my lady but all the other residents I see and speak to by the staff. There is still a way to go, but all I can say never be afraid to make Canterbury House your home, they do care. More so than another not far from them.
Standards, in general, have slipped from excellent to very mediocre over the past few months. Frequent staff changes have precipitated this. Management, in particular, has been very poor with appalling communication between relatives and home. Cleaning standards have become poor recently. Care staff are mainly very polite and provide a good service, with the exception of at least one rather confrontational member of staff.
I was a little nervous about arranging respite care for my mother, however, my concern was without foundation. From my initial enquiry through to my mother's stay, I found staff to be caring, kind and professional at Canterbury House. I was impressed with the cleanliness and layout of the accommodation, as well as the facilities offered and it was very clear that my mother had been well looked after during her stay. I know that my mother enjoyed the food and there were plenty of activities to get involved with and other friendly residents to chat to. I would have no hesitation in booking another stay at Canterbury House, in the full knowledge that my mother would receive the highest standards of care.
This is an excellent home. My respite stay felt more like a hotel. The service from all the staff was above my expectations. Having worked in care homes, I was pleasantly surprised by the empathy, care and kindness from everyone. I would certainly recommend Canterbury House for complete care.
My mum has been in Canterbury House since late 2018 and I cannot fault the staff and the facilities. They look after her so well, like she is family. The staff are always there on hand to help if you need anything, they dote on my mother which is lovely to see. The home itself has fantastic facilities and they always make sure that they have activities to keep the residents busy. During the dreaded covid time, the home did absolutely everything in their power to keep everyone safe and did this with great success. I couldn't personally think of a better place to have mum live.
We urgently needed respite care for my mother-in-law and within a few hours Canterbury House had found a space for her. She stayed 3 weeks and has had wonderful care from everyone. As a family, we have found that the staff are always willing to discuss whatever issues we have had. We would all recommend the home.
My mother has settled in quickly and is happy living here. I am very happy with the level of care and the staff are genuinely conscientious, knowledgeable and helpful. She hasn't lived there long enough yet to have experienced the full range of activities but it would be great to have the swimming pool back in action. I would recommend Canterbury House Care Home to friends and family.
Canterbury House is an excellent care home. The staff are lovely and do a wonderful job. After initial resistance to the move, Mum has settled in well and has been given a new lease of life. There are a wide variety of activities for residents. I know she is safe, happy, and doing well thanks to their person-centered care. For her recent birthday, the staff really went that extra mile.
I am an 86-year-old widower with relatives and friends. They have all died. After a little research, I now realise that I have a good choice of resting places. I do have to say that I have come to expire not perspire. The kitchen, laundry and cleaning services are all A1, as are the office staff. Maybe not for everyone but don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.
My brother has been in Canterbury House Care Home for three months. He appears to be happy there and is well cared for and well-fed. It is a spacious, purpose-built building. The home organises a lot of activities for residents which appear to be well attended. The staff are friendly and helpful.
