View Full Details of Ivy GroveWe visited a friend who has recently moved into Ivy Grove and were pleased to hear from her that she is settling in well. The staff were welcoming and cheerful and there was a really lovely atmosphere. I have given an average rating for food and drink because, as visitors, we did not have any refreshments so you can't comment.
I am very impressed with all the staff of the home from the manager down. They all seem to know the residents well and engage fully with them including my next of kin, and her needs are certainly being met and she accepts and trusts them which wasn't the case when she had daily carers at home who she viewed with suspicion. The care, activities, decor and general ambience is great.
April and the team were really warm and welcoming to dad and I. Dad feels like Ivy Grove is now something of a second home for him. He's made great friends with the team and with other residents there. The rooms are lovely, big and have great facilities. There are always activities going on every day to keep dad entertained. The food is of a very high standard and plenty of it too. I'd like to thank everyone there for looking after dad so well - I know he's in good hands at Ivy Grove and means that I don't have to worry.
I can't speak highly enough of this care home. They looked after my father-in-law until he passed. The whole team are the most caring people I have ever met. Nothing is too much trouble for any of them. The rooms are lovely and kept spotless. The furniture they provide is excellent. The food is all freshly prepared and the choice is amazing. They have entertainment daily and make sure all the residents are happy. Any medical issues are reported to a doctor who visits the home regularly. My father-in-law was so happy here.
As a family, we were dreading the day that mum would need to go into a care home. From the moment mum was visited by the Home Admission Team at her home, I felt that we were leaving mum in good hands. On the day of moving in, mum was a bit upset and within minutes the care team had mum settled and smiling. And before long mum was off helping to lay the tables with staff andmeeting the other residents. Mum has been at the Ivy since March and has settled in brilliantly thanks to the fantastic staff at the Ivy. The whole team that helps to run the Ivy, make family members always welcome when you arrive at the home. The home is clean and the food menu choices are fantastic. The home has a great daily activity program, that the residence always happily participates in. We as a family are very pleased that we found the Ivy Care home for mum. And I would recommend this care home to anyone looking for long- or short-term care. Thanks again to all the team at Ivy for taking great care of our mum.
We were so worried about mum going into a care home, but from the moment she arrived she was made to feel so welcome and like she was part of the Ivy Grove family. Mum loves music and dancing and all the staff make time to put music on and have a dance with her. When we visit she is always off chatting to other residents or staff who are always very engaging. We are always offered drinks and snacks when we visit which is lovely to have a cuppa with mum. And there is always some activity going on whether it's a singer, an exercise class or trips out. The food at Ivy Grove is superb always delicious and there is a choice, mum certainly enjoys it. The staff at Ivy Grove are amazing from the Domestics, Laundry ladies, Cooks, Carers, Entertainment, Hairdresser, Receptionists and Management they all make time for the residents, to make sure they are happy and treated with dignity. We are so blessed that mum was placed in this wonderful caring home.
My dad initially went into Ivy Grove for a four-week respite stay. At the end of that time, he had settled in and decided to become a full-time resident. From my initial contact with the administration staff to settling Dad in, all the staff have been warm and welcoming. The home is well-managed and organised. We are emailed regularly and kept up to date with menus and information for the coming week. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. All areas of the home are clean and bright, the menu is varied and Dad says the food is good and there is a lot of it! Anything he asks for he seems to get. The team of staff are exceptionally kind and thoughtful, talking to the residents as they pass by and sitting with them in the lounge. All Dad's visitors have said the home is the best they have been in. I would recommend Ivy Grove to anyone considering moving into a care home.
Had a pleasant 15-day visit. The food was excellent, plenty of it. Staff were friendly, and the laundry was excellent. I enjoyed the activities but would have enjoyed a more varied list of activities, as there was a lot of exercise and singing. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. I would definitely recommend Ivy Grive in all aspects of care and would enjoy visiting again.
Very friendly and clean care home. Staff are very helpful. Mum suffers from extreme anxiety and depression. Staff are very kind to Mum.
My sister has only been a resident in Ivy Grove Care Home for eight weeks but the staff have all been so welcoming and everything, so far, has been excellent as far as my sister's needs are concerned. Unfortunately, I don't think my sister is able to show her appreciation but we are hoping, as time passes, she will. Thank you for the "care" on offer, we would have wished for her to stay in her own home but sadly, it wasn't possible. Many thanks once again.
Care homes are a last resort to most families. Having visited a few, our family chose Ivy Grove. I would definitely recommend Ivy Grove if you find yourself in this difficult situation. The staff go out of their way, are so kind, helpful, and welcoming with a can do attitude. The manager is fabulous at his job and leads his team in a caring and kind way. If there are issues, the staff listen, and they are noted and sorted straight away. Our family feel welcomed on our daily visits and we see first hand the care that is given to our Mum and other residents and they are all truly marvellous. We really like the entertainment offered at the home ie. the singers, violinists etc. Mum loves music so this has been an added bonus. Mum had her birthday at Ivy Grove this year, the lovely chef made a beautiful cake and we had the use of the lovely family room to celebrate as a family. It's these little touches that make Ivy Grove stand out.
On Valentine's Day, the entertainment manager arranged a romantic dinner for Mum and Dad. The head housekeeper and chef did a lively job of decorating the room with hearts etc. Mum wasn't looking her best when I arrived but one member of staff took the trouble to wash and blow dry her hair and put her in a dress (Mum looked in the mirror and said "Don't I look pretty!"). There was even a red rose for Dad to give to Mum and a bottle of non-alcoholic champagne on the table. The whole event was very special and the staff went above and beyond.
Moving my mum from the house where she lived for sixty-one years was a big wrench, however, the team at Ivy Grove Care Home have been brilliant at helping her settle in and adapt to her new surroundings. The home admissions advisor has been a constant source of information and support since the first meeting. The maintenance staff ensured that her room had all her familiar picture and photos displayed. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, everyone is approachable and is engaged with us regularly to ensure that my mum's needs are being met. My mum has made some new friends with the other residents. It has really brought her out of her shell. She really enjoys the amazing food and wide range of activities and events that are arranged. My mother-in-law and one of her friends have also expressed interest at moving to Ivy Grove, based on how much my mum is enjoying her new life at the home.
It's been a month since Mum moved into Ivy Grove and I just wanted to take the time to say a big thank you to all of you and all the other members of the team for looking after her and making me feel so comfortable and confident knowing she is so cared for. I can't lie that the last few years have been very difficult and emotional all round and, being an only child, has meant I've been looking after Mum every day. Having her somewhere that I know she is safe has lifted such an enormous weight off my shoulders. From April showing us around on our first visit to Ivy Grove to her coming to see Mum, everyone has been so lovely and welcoming. You are all angels. I know it has been a bit tough for her to adjust and settle in, not helped by her recent UTI but, hopefully, once we have her glasses back and start to make her room even more recognisable she will start to relax more. I can only thank you again.
My mum has been in the care home since when my dad passed in July 2021 which she moved in August. It's a lovely care home and my mum has always thanked me for putting her there but she's still grieving her loss of 60 years and although the service is great and the people are great, she's missing being around her family.
My dad has been a resident here for six months and his moving here has been one of the best decisions we've made. He'd been living on his own for a couple of years since my step mum died and was coping ok, but he was getting very lonely and this year he started having a lot of falls at home. We both agreed we should try a care home so he would be looked after, feel safer and less isolated. Since he moved in, he's been really happy and has thrived. He's eating much better than before, has put on weight, enjoys having company around him and it's really handy for me to visit so I can see him more often. The team respond really quickly if you ask about things and are always very helpful. When he first moved in he took part in lots of activities, but unfortunately, he had a fall after a couple of months which set him back in participating a little bit for a while. But he's been well looked after and is gradually getting back into things. We're both really happy that we found Ivy Grove.
We received an incredible amount of support from the entire team. Mum was treated like a queen on her birthday with a cake baked on-site by the wonderful chef, balloons and the downstairs room to have a party; it truly was special and deeply appreciated. The team made provision for Mum to sit in the office some mornings to mirror her old experiences in nursing and make the environment feel relevant to her. This was their idea and a reflection of the personalised service they provide. It was a welcomed distraction for Mum from the anxiety that comes with dementia and want to go home. The property itself is warm, beautifully and comfortably decorated; it's no secret that I overstayed past visiting hours to spend time with Mum watching tv! The smart speaker was a joy, and we could play Mum's favourite songs for her at lunchtime, music therapy being so important for generating positive emotions and feelings of well-being. This was a very positive experience as part of what can be a challenging situation.
My mother was a resident for a month on a respite break. She was overwhelmed at first but the staff were so attentive, tailor-making a transition program which met her individual needs. She gradually joined in the activities provided and now feels relaxed and safe in her new surroundings. Would thoroughly recommend.
I was here for one month so this review is only a snapshot of the home. All the staff have been unfailingly helpful in whatever they do but there appear to be some training issues. Some things I thought would be done as routine were not. I had to ask for clothes to be washed and the bed to be changed, room cleaning etc. Once asked for all these were done speedily and well. The building is showing its age and needs maintenance. In my room, there are plumbing/electric problems. I understand the owners may have this in hand.
I needed to say the biggest Thank you to absolutely everyone at this care home, they are an amazing team of individuals. I always felt that my Mum was cared for as if she was Mum to all the carers, she was happy, comfortable and cherished right to the end. I also have gotten to know the team and will miss them all, even in my Mum's later Dementia driven moods they would somehow make it better for me and even help me to see the funny side! I am so grateful, Mum could not have been in a better place. To the two members of staff, you were with her right at the end and my Mum could not have had a nicer way to go. This organisation is so lucky to have you all. Thank you so much
