View Full Details of Fig HouseI would highly recommend Fig House. It felt like a home not an institution. The carers were all friendly and welcoming. The residents were all treated as individuals and were supported in all their activities. Management were very present around the home and knew all their residents well. My mum was only there for a short time before she died. They managed the whole situation beautifully and and I was very glad that her last days were there both for mum and me.
Mum was at Fig House for 4 years during that time she was well cared for by all the staff. They were not just caring they were also compassionate, which mattered enormously through daily activities and entertainment. She enjoyed a good quality of life she was always so positive in her comments about her surroundings, and the staff. Her dignity was paramount to them and her individuality. I am so grateful we chose Fig House. Thank you all.
I am extremely pleased to see my mother happy. I live far away and your staff treat her like she belongs. Although my mother doesn't know where she is I reassure her she is now on holiday for the rest of her life. No worries - that's an Australian saying.
Thank you to the really caring team at Fig House, everyone we've met has been so warm and caring toward Mum. She always said she didn't want to live in a home but she is settled and happy it's wonderful to see she is clean and tidy and enjoying great relationships with the team
My mother joined the family at Fig House with advancing Dementia and after breaking her hip. From the moment she entered she was welcomed warmly and cared for well. My mum took a dramatic decline over the last month and sadly passed away last week. The care, pure love and compassion shown by the team was wonderful. Mum's final time was spent with dignity and love which was all we could ever hope for. Thank you Fig House.
My mum has been at Fig House for nearly two years and us very happy here. the staff are very professional and compassionate, caring and affectionate with my Mum. She refers to the staff as her "new family" which makes me feel satisfied and content that she is in the best care. Her room is always tidy and clean and she has the freedom to be independent if she wants to. It's lovely to see her in the kitchen making tea and seeing her comfortable like she's "at home". I can't thank the team enough for their support, kindness and care.
From the beginning, all staff have been extraordinarily patient and kind to my mum. My mum has suffered from anxiety since her diagnosis and this can cause her to lash out, however, since she has been at Fig House she has been so calm and I can only attribute that to the care that she has been receiving. Mum's bedroom and the community areas are always very clean she has doors that open directly into the garden. We're very happy with the care that mum is getting and that she is in a safe and happy environment.
Fig House is a very friendly, inviting home. The staff are very kind, caring and are always attentive to mum's needs. They have endless patience and nothing is too much trouble. She is always well dressed in clean, fresh clothes. The rooms are a good size and are kept fresh and clean and there are several lovely communal areas and gardens. It is great to find mum sitting in a garden chair outside in the summer. There are also lots of activities which she can join if she wishes and the home also has its own minibus to take residents on regular outings which she enjoys.
After her husband's death, my mother, who was already diagnosed with Alzheimer's, was anxious, in denial and failed to take care of herself or co-operate with care workers in her own home. Since admission, the care she has received means she is now calm and in excellent physical health. She is treated with dignity and respect and responds to this.
The standard of care for our mother is excellent in all areas. The staff are compassionate and caring in all aspects of mum's care. We as a family, are so grateful for what Fig House provides. we are kept in the loop with any health issues. Seasonal parties, outings, entertainment with a brilliant manager that is approachable and helpful.
Since our mother moved from another dementia unit in North Somerset little more than a month ago, her quality of life has increased greatly. The management of Fig House radiates professionalism the carers are kind, caring and attentive to the needs of the residents. The carers are constantly good-humoured and friendly, nothing seems too much trouble. The whole place seems set up for those living there and their families rather than being a business venture where staff are struggling to keep a grip. From the day that mum arrived at Fig House she has been dressed and presented to use my brother's words "as if she is ready to go to the theatre, which, naturally, increases her own self-esteem. Even if we arrive unannounced to find her tucked up in bed, her hair has been brushed and her room is immaculate. When I telephone the home she generally greets me laughing and I hear kind words of encouragement in the background from the staff. This is important to me as I live 150 miles away. Their day is well-structured with plenty of activities. Even peeling potatoes for lunch is therapeutic as it gives the residents a feeling of normality and of being useful/needed. There is an air of calmness, happiness and homeliness at Fig House; my brother and I are delighted that our mother is in such a special and professional environment.
The building is light and airy, well designed for people with poor sight. The rooms are a good size and own furniture can be used. Residents are not confined and can move between several lounges and garden. The staff are friendly and caring, making an effort to get to know each resident and their family, who are always welcomed. My mother receives better quality care and attention.
My mother was placed at Fig House as an emergency from home. She was anxious and so were we as we didn't know what to expect. We need not have worried as we were all immediately put at ease by the Manager and staff. They listened and reassured us all. They have continued to do so, letting us ask as many questions as we like, giving us the time and constant help. My mother is staying at Fig House and we are delighted for her and us!
I can honestly say I couldn't have wished for more support care and understanding for both my mum and I. I trusted the owner to move my mum and it was the best thing. My mother is so happy and content. Her room is beautiful, the food is excellent. They are at home all the time and nothing is too much trouble. Fresh flowers and so clean. Her forever home.
All the staff at Fig House are kind, caring and tireless without exception. I have complete confidence in the care of my mother, who has settled into her home and always seems relaxed and content. It is a great relief to know she is in safe hands.
We cannot recommend Fig House highly enough. Well trained staff who have endless patience, cared for our mother with such kindness and dedication, making her final years happy, secure and filled with pleasant experiences such as singing and trips to interesting places in the minibus! At all times her dignity was respected. Every member of staff works to ensure the comfort and health of the residents. We consider ourselves lucky to have found such excellent care for Mum, who loved it there.
Where do I begin? When my sister and I had to find a home for our mother, we never thought we would find anywhere like this. It's so warm and welcoming, all the residents are so happy and that is down to the very caring, professional staff. Nothing is too much trouble, mum has only been there since March. She is so happy, laughs a lot, interacts with everyone, goes out, eats well, so much more than when she was at home. The best decision we made, knowing mum is well cared for. Thank you.
My mother tells me she loves living in Fig House. The staff are kind, respectful and attentive. They work well together giving the home a happy, safe atmosphere. Residents choose whether to join in one of the activities, socialise independently with each other, doze or just let time pass by. The chef and staff work hard to make meal times a pleasurable, social experience. The building is light, bright and and spacious with a beautiful walled in gardens. There are rabbits in the garden and budgerigars in the lounge. The home has its own minibus and there are regular outings. The home is in a peaceful location and the air is fresh and clean.
