View Full Details of Barchester Hurstwood ViewHurstwood View is described by dad, 'like a 5 star hotel!'. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, they are all so attentive and genuinely caring, patient and happy at all times. They also give respect to those residents who might just be happy to be in their own company and choose not to always join in the huge range of daily activities available. Mum was also there last year, if only for a few weeks, but at a time when her health was at it's most challenging. The care she received was outstanding, and the care they gave us as a family equally so. 5 stars from us all and many many thanks to everyone!
The staff are consistently helpful and extremely friendly. Nothing is too much trouble whenever we have any queries or requests for either management or nursing staff. However, the most important review of all can only really be from my parents who always say that they are happy and well looked after whenever I ask. Thank you.
It is very clear to me that everyone that I have come into contact with at Barchester Hurstwood View, as the husband of a resident, is doing everything possible to provide her with the best care and support at a challenging time of life. There is also a good range of activities for residents to participate in, should they wish to do so but nobody is placed under pressure. The building, garden and internal facilities are of a really good standard and are well-maintained. If and when there are queries/concerns they are dealt with in an open and professional manner.
After looking at many care homes, this was the only one that offered respite that I could book in advance. I needed to find a care home for my mother whilst I was away on honeymoon. My honeymoon had been booked way in advance of my mother needing to live with us and I needed to know mum was safe and well looked after. Barchester Hurstwood View is amazing. The home is beautiful and made very special by the staff who look after these vulnerable people. Mum was very happy and made good friends with the staff whilst she was there. I haven't told mum yet but I'm hoping to book her in again next year when we go away for our holiday. The home is very convenient for our relatives to visit. My mum prefers a quiet life and was very happy she was allowed to stay in her room for her stay.
Since resident has been living in Barchester Hurstwood View, 2022, I cannot fault the excellent quality of staff on all levels: compassion, care etc. The home is an extension of our family. They helped provide a wonderful birthday party today for my mother-in-law. We all had a wonderful day. Thank you Hurstwood View.
Just everything about Hurstwood worked for my father and family. He moved into Hurstwood Court, the independent living wing, some years ago. The staff in Hurstwood View were wonderful with him. Checking that he was safe. Providing him with increasing levels of support as, and when, he needed it. The option to be involved in as much, or as little, of care home life as he wanted provided him with activities, a social network and always ensured a hot meal was available if he didn't feel like shopping and cooking. After several years in his apartment, he eventually moved into Hurstwood View when it was clear that it was no longer safe for him to live independently. The wonderful staff there continued to look after him for a number of years until he eventually succumbed to his illness and passed. The care, compassion and dignity that all the staff show to all their residents, and their families, is truly wonderful. We are all so grateful to the manager and her team.
My husband is being cared for at Barchester Hurstwood View. I am so very pleased and happy that he is there. The staff are truly amazing. Everything is excellent, from the food to the activities to the administration to the maintenance, all of it. Nothing is too much trouble. This is an exceptional place where you know your loved ones are being taken care of and are safe. Thoroughly recommend it. A happy place.
I can't thank the manager and the team enough for how they are treating my father. Having had him in a previous home which wasn't great and where we felt he was restricted, Barchester Hurstwood View is polar opposite and such a relief for our family. The care, compassion and respect are second to none and a true reflection to the training and engagement of the crew.
A great home and we are eternally grateful to the manager and her team for their amazing work, delivered with such care and respect. The manager is a real pillar of support and is always there to listen and her team are super in helping and asking if you're ok and genuinely cares about the family too.
I am full of praise for this nursing home and for the considerable care that all the staff have shown to my darling husband. I thank them all. They show the utmost compassion for all the residents here. The vital thing that this residence shows, which is so important, is that there is love and when you have that, then you have it all.
I find Barchester Hurstwood View excellent for caring for the needs of the residents. All staff are extremely friendly and very helpful in all areas. The activities are very varied and nothing is too much trouble. There is a very friendly atmosphere around the residence with lots of smiley faces. I am more than happy that my family members live there.
The team at Barchester Hurstwood View work together to provide compassionate and supportive care for residents but with dignity for the individual. This is essential when working with dementia. Communication with family is good. Facilities are maintained to a high standard. Activities are well-organised and plentiful and resident-specific needs are accommodated (e.g. family gatherings). This is all so reassuring to family members. Thank you
Very friendly, capable and helpful staff 24/7. Excellent lounges and quiet room and cafe to meet guests.
Hurstwood View has been excellent in every respect. As POA and next of kin for Auntie our location some 300 miles away proved very challenging. We had remotely supported her for many years aided by intense home care support but her increasing confusion and distress demanded she move to receive continuous support. This she had persistently resisted but Hurstwood's reception and ongoing care proved very special. Her personal bedroom, the quality of food and the opportunity to make new acquaintances was great but above all was the kindness shown by all of the staff in making her at ease in this new environment. Of equal value was the staff's engagement with us. Being unable to visit we were rigorously kept informed on both the positive aspects of Auntie's residence but also sensitively guided through the challenges of her decline through dementia and ultimate end-of-life care. We initially gasped at the fee but can honestly say that it proved worth every penny.
Dad was a resident of the home for only a few months having moved from a Barchester care home when his nursing needs increased. All the staff at Hurstwood View, from the manager to nursing staff, care staff, activities, admin, and back of the house, treated him with compassion, understanding, and respect. Dad had his difficulties but I always felt that the staff acted in his best interests. They kept us informed and updated on any changes. When it came to the end they couldn't have done more for Dad or indeed for my sister and me, meaning we can look back on that dreadful time knowing it couldn't possibly have been handled any better. If you are looking for a fantastic care/nursing home for your loved one then look no further. The staff here actually care!
Five-star care, five-star staff, five-star facilities. From the moment we walked into Hurstwood View we knew we’d found a gem. From the friendly activities team who encourage the residents to join in an array of daily activities, to the attentive and empathetic care team I cannot recommend this wonderful home enough. The meals are delicious and the catering staff take time to find out what the residents particularly fancy. Distraught and overwhelmed because of the situation we found ourselves in, The Manager and staff wrapped me in a virtual blanket of kindness and understanding. The team at Hurstwood View scooped my mum up in an equal blanket of care and expertise, transforming her physical issues whilst also having a deep understanding of dementia patients. I feel I have my mum back and I can sleep at night now knowing she is safe and cared for.
Quite frankly a horrendous experience both for my deceased mother and my family. Beautiful decor but hardly any care staff. Mum went in for 4 weeks respite (£8000 non-refundable) but died after 2 weeks. Delays on urine test on arrival, obtaining pain relief medication to help my mum (they blamed a change in doctor but they had a week's notice to get it), dirty drinking vessels left in room from the previous day, off milk given to my mum (was on her bedside table and folder said she had been given milk before I arrived), bank nurse said it was unclear from notes what medication my mum should be taking and found my mum distressed every time I visited her during her last week. Yes I did complain at the time and the care did buck up a little but really it should never have come to that. Think as a gesture of goodwill we should have had a refund which we could have donated to our mum’s chosen charity particularly as mum was only hoisted out of bed once and had only a few mouthfuls of food.
My husband moved here nearly 3 months ago after I could no longer look after him at home. The staff were unbelievably supportive of me with what was a very difficult decision and he has settled well. Hurstwood View is a happy place with a lovely atmosphere and is very welcoming. Kindness and patience are much in evidence on the dementia floor and it is heartwarming to see the wonderful care which they give to my husband and other residents even when things can be quite challenging. The staff are hard-working and excellent in every way, nothing is too much trouble and thankfully the whole place is run with a lot of common sense and does not feel 'corporate'. The activities team are enthusiastic and engages well with all the residents and their families and my husband clearly enjoys the home-cooked food! Laundry and cleaning are of a high standard. I cannot believe that there is a better place for my husband than here. Huge thanks to you all.
My grandmother moved to Hurstwood View about 18 months ago when it became clear she needed specialist dementia care. The team are second to none - nothing was ever too much and even on her bad days they clearly cared for her very deeply. At the end of her life, they were kind to us all, cared for her like she was their own grandmother and made sure she was not in pain. My father and I couldn’t have asked for more and we are so glad she was surrounded by people who truly cared for her.
My mother has been at Hurstwood View for two months in respite care following a difficult hospital and community hospital stay after a fall. Mum has just blossomed since she arrived at Hurstwood. All the staff have provided such great care for Mum, she has regained her weight loss and her personality has returned. She is thriving. Her room is beautiful, with a wonderful outlook over fields, it is warm, homely and comfortable, more like a cosy hotel room. The meals are excellent with good choices, with extra treats throughout the day, homemade biscuits and cakes with plenty of tea and coffee visits. The manager and all the staff are genuinely caring and interested in each resident. The planned weekly activities provide a really well-balanced range of group and individual activities for all to enjoy. I visit every day and I feel incredibly welcome and part of the family! It’s a very special place.
