View Full Details of Chesterton LodgeMy grandma had been at Chesterton Lodge for a few years. Although I wasn't satisfied with the level of care she received over the past couple of years, when her health declined and she began her end-of-life journey, the staff truly shone. In particular, the senior care leader, along with certain carers and several others whose names I can't recall, were incredible. They were extremely attentive to my grandma and our family. They even offered us a room opposite my grandma's so we could rest while we stayed with her around the clock during her final days. Although the staffing levels at night are concerning, with only four staff members for 60 residents, they still managed to take care of us, ensuring we were comfortable and taking the time to talk to us. Their genuine care was evident when my grandma passed away, and they were visibly upset. Thank you, team, for your kindness.
All the carers and managers very pleasant and helpful. Always ready to listen and help with any questions.
My Dad came to Chesterton Lodge in December 2022 and lived there for 13 months until he sadly passed away in January 2024. As a family we cannot fault his care, everything we asked of the dedicated staff was done for my Dad. My mum visited him nearly every day and also stayed for her dinner with him on special occasions. In 2023 my elderly uncle had some falls at home and after a spell in hospital, my cousin and I also put my uncle to live there permanently. When visiting we used to take my uncle up to my dad or vice versa. My uncle is still living happily there and we still visit him weekly. As with a previous review, the staff are one of the best assets of Chesterton Lodge and go above and beyond with everything they are asked to do. My mum is now needing more care from the family and if needed we wouldn't hesitate to put her into Chesterton Lodge for respite in a view to living there permanently in fact she keeps asking to go and live there so she isn't on her own at night.
I have been made very welcome and comfortable here and the staff are very kind and professional and I have settled in very well.
Since my husband came to Chesterton Lodge in November 2023 he has been made to feel comfortable and very welcome by all the staff. His care has been very good and if he has had a problem it has been sorted out straight away. He has been made to be part of the one big family and although he was very unsure at first he has settled in very well.
I visit my father every Wednesday and he's always praising the staff. His room I always kept clean. The staff are brilliant, thank you to all at Chesterton Lodge.
Sadly my beautiful mum passed away in December 2023. Mum had been a resident at Chesterton Lodge for the past 2 years. No care home will ever seem good enough for your loved one but I would like to thank all of the staff for the care and love shown to my mum. The staff are caring and kind and deserve a high amount of praise. I was always kept informed of any changes in my mum. Thank you all for everything. Anchor care homes should go the extra mile for their staff.
My Mother was admitted to Chesterton Lodge following her hospital admission having had a series of falls. At this time she was not eating and struggling to walk. The staff were wonderful with her, taking care of her every need and making her feel safe and cared for. I am so amazed at the improvement in Mum, so much so that she will returning to her home. Thank you Chesterton Lodge - you are all amazing.
Pleasant residential setting, exceptionally clean very good meals. However, after comparison with other care homes, I feel this home provides a basic level of care. The care should reflect dementia-centred resident support as these are the main service users. There are no or very few activities and from what I have seen the residents do not get to even access the lovely gardens. I would imagine due to low staffing levels. Like a greenhouse in summer no air conditioning. Other homes in the area run by the same company are a delight to visit and see what activities the residents have been involved in uploaded onto Social media. Acceptable if you want your loved one to sit in an armchair all day. Do your research ignore the CQC report and compare with other care providers. Scratch away at the surface and read the reviews.
Finding a care home for your loved one is something we hope we will never need to do - but if necessary, of course, we all want the best! At Chesterton Lodge, we found the absolute epitome of the perfect care home. Yes, the building is new, purpose-built, safe and secure - all you would want. However, its crown jewel is the staff - professional, caring, compassionate, sensitive, and I go as far as to say loving. I feel personally humbled by everyone's dedication here. They are all so proud of this home, and rightly so. We feel so lucky to have found it. Don't hesitate to look around it.
Chesterton Lodge Care Home has been home to my elderly, frail father for the past month. The staff are utterly fantastic and all of them show complete care and commitment. The rooms are bright and airy and food is plentiful and of a high standard. Overall, we are very satisfied with the service provided.
Mum was in Chesterton Lodge Care Home for some years. The staff are always helpful, pleasant and showed great care with Mum and my family. There has been a lack of management over the last few years but hopefully they have now got a permanent person in place. If there had been any issues they have always addressed them promptly which you can't ask for anything more. I would certainly recommend Chesterton Lodge for anyone looking for respite or permanent care.
Chesterton Lodge Care Home is a lovely care home. My sister is quite happy and contented there, looked after well and safe. The two questions I have not answered are; 1) Management - since my sister went into the care home there have been several managers and I did not get to know them. (There is now another). 2) The price of a week's care is far too expensive.
My brother was a resident at Chesterton lodge for 2 years, but as his needs seemed to be increasing he had to move to a nursing home. The support for my brother and support for my sister and I was first class. He received first-class care from all the staff. The staff went above and beyond their duties, especially through Covid. As a family and on behalf of my brother we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone.
Mum originally lived in South Wales but with advancing years and concerns over her health, we decided to move her into a local care home. Due to problems with Covid we had to rely on websites, phone calls and reviews as we were unable to visit any of the homes that we thought may be suitable for a 99-year-old. We are so glad we chose Chesterton Lodge in March 2020 as we could not have asked for better care, very personal and professional service and being made so welcome each time we have either visited or telephoned to see how mum was. All staff have been superb and have ensured that mum is happy, contented and has all her personal needs met on a daily basis. This has been especially important for us and mum as we have endured all the recent restrictions that significantly impacted our contact with her. In particular, all they organised for mum's recent 100th birthday celebrations was more than we could ever have anticipated and made it a very memorable day for her!
Mum has been at Chesterton Lodge since December 2019. She came in with fairly high levels of confusion and dementia. Since she's been there, her physical and mental health have improved massively. The staff, whether carers, cleaners, laundry, catering or other support staff are lovely. Caring, professional, hard-working lovely people. I no longer worry about Mum as I know she is being very well looked after.
A very good home with kind and caring staff. My mum was a resident for approximately 7 and a half years and she has received good care during this time. My mum recently passed away and the staff were so very kind to my mum and our family. We can't thank them enough.
Chesterton Lodge needs a refurbishment. Carpets are filthy, walls marked and furniture dirty. We regularly have to speak to staff to ask them to dress my nan properly, brush hair, put dentures in and generally have some care for her dignity. The staff are all lovely but there needs to be more of them. Four staff with 28 residents is not enough.
Going down the bank in the year my mum has been there. Filthy lounge carpets. Not enough staff for ratio of people in the home (some people need 2 people for assistance). Only 4 staff per floor. Mum not dressed properly on occasions. No bra on! Other people's clothes in the wardrobe. Some staff very good, others not really interested. New manager needed so we can sort out the many issues that are happening recently.
I really enjoyed my month's stay at Chesterton Lodge. All the staff were wonderful and seemed to work very hard. Everyone was very kind and caring. I settled down very quickly and enjoyed the company - very relaxed. No complaints except the one - my room could be quite cold at times.
