I always find the staff welcoming and helpful. From the moment I step through the front door, there is an overall feeling of calm, friendliness and cleanliness. I also appreciate the gardens around the home. They are lovely and peaceful.
There is lots of fun and laughter at this care home, and the residents spend their time where they choose, maybe in the lounge, their room or the garden - this isn't a place where everyone has to sit around in a big circle just for the convenience of the staff. There are lots of imaginative activities if people would like to join in, but if they want to be by themselves that is also fine. The home is very clean and the residents are helped to keep fresh and well. I know that my brother is safe and always treated with dignity and respect, and I am always made to feel very welcome. Very good communication between the home and the residents' families.
Mum has been a resident at Soham Lodge since April 2024 and we chose this location because of the good feeling I got when I was searching for somewhere for Mum. Immediately I was made to feel welcome by all the staff and I was quickly able to be confident this would be the right choice. After two months of experiencing the care and attention my mum has received, I know I made the right choice. Everyone tries so hard to provide the best of care.
This is the first time I have been a resident in a care home and when I started just over four years ago I did not know what to expect. It has so far turned out to be fairly ideal for my needs and wants, which are a bit complex and a bit extensive at times. Meaning especially, for instance, that I need and want peace and quiet most of the days in order to collect my thoughts and develop notably and recover the best I can from years of being rather mentally ill which were aided and yet very marred by absolutely major tranquillizers and very little female company!
Since my partner has been at Soham Lodge I have seen amazing changes to physical and mental health. The nursing and care team are fabulous and ensure that he is comfortable and cared for in every way possible. he has lost a phenomenal amount of weight and this has improved his overall health. This would not have been possible without the staff at Soham Lodge.
Staff engage with residents and encourage them to be involved in planned activities. Even when residents can't or don't wish to join in, they ensure they benefit from those activities, even if on a one to one basis. They are positive and caring, know and acknowledge their residents by name and take time to know their likes and dislikes. A happy environment is created and this extends for residents and those visiting.
The care from the home has been very good. Any interactions we have witnessed from the carers/nursing staff or any member of the team have been outstanding. We, on every visit, see patience, care and kindness, which is so reassuring. Nothing is too much trouble and we as family are always made welcome. We feel very reassured that our parents are well looked after and their care needs, along with any other needs they have, are being met.
All staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful - offered refreshments after my long drive. All staff I observed were attentive and communicated well.
Very friendly welcome. Well organised - a place for us to sit with refreshments given. Staff checking in with my friend regarding her needs.
From what I’ve seen and heard from others who have visited, the Soham Lodgefolk have treated my mother exceptionally well and even got her playing bingo for the first time in 95 years. Thanks very much!
Our son spent 2-years in a care home in Devon, where his conditions deteriorated. He was so excited to go to Soham Lodge. He was visited by the manager and the team, who outlined their plan for him in the coming months. A healthy diet, a suitable bed and regular physio. This was exactly what he'd been promised and didn't receive at his then-current care home. He realised it would be a long way for us to visit him but would be happy with daily contact with us. He settled in very well and loved it. Phone calls/Zoom, he was more positive and happy than we'd known in a long time. Sadly, he developed a recurring infection and had to be hospitalised. While in hospital his condition gradually deteriorated, and he passed away. We contacted Soham Lodge, and they invited us to view his room and were so kind to spend time and talk with us about him. The owner, manager and the staff we met were kind and caring. We can't praise them enough for giving him hope.
My review relates to Jan 2022, my mother's last month before she passed away after five and a half years as a resident at Soham Lodge. My first impression when I visited the home in July 2016 was that it was clean, tidy and smelt pleasant; this standard continued for the whole five and a half years. My mother had server dementia, and despite being a very feisty and at times, an awkward person, was always treated with respect, dignity and included in all the activities that she could take part in. Despite her complex dietary needs, every effort was made to give her varied food at all times, day and night. When the time of her passing came, she was able to pass peacefully and with dignity.
My uncle spent most of the last 10-weeks of his life being cared for at Soham Lodge as he suffered a very aggressive throat cancer at the age of 97. The care he was given was of the highest standard. The staff truly respected him and gave him unlimited and very professional attention. Throughout his decline, he had a regular flow of visitors, who always felt very welcome and were briefed meticulously as to his condition and how problems were being dealt with. Our family wishes to thank the management, nurses, carers and admin of Soham Lodge. God Bless.
Nothing has been too much trouble throughout my mum-in-laws stay. Covid precautions have been stringent in order to keep the residents safe. Information about my mum-in-law has been given on a daily basis and visits easily organised. The activities for residents give them regular purpose, motivation, and enjoyment. The staff work really hard to maintain this and treat my mum-in-law with care and compassion.
I never thought my mum would be in a nursing home. She was transferred to Soham Lodge from hospital 12 months ago. She has been looked after and cared for very well and I have been able to monitor her on a daily basis. My mum has settled in very well with the support of the staff. My mum seems very happy there which helps me as I know she is being looked after 24/7. I very much like where my mum is but would like to see her room as at the moment we only get to see her in a designated room. It’s good to see mum do activities that she has not done before. I would like to thank all the staff for the kindness, patience and support for my mum they are all really great.
My gran seems relaxed and happy, considering I never thought she would go into a home. I’m happy throughout the pandemic, she was safe and happy, even though it was hard not being able to give her a hug; we still had Zoom, and now I can see her. I might get to see her in her room as I’ve not seen it yet.
Soham Lodge has been an absolute blessing for my family. My gran has been in there since the start of lockdown and she has been looked after with nothing but care and love. The entertainment in the care home is engaging and fun for the residents. The communication and effort from the staff to family members are also phenomenal. Thank you, Soham Lodge.
My wife was in a previous care home which after a few weeks was found to be not suitable for her for various reasons, so she was moved to Soham Lodge (which had been recommended) and as far as I was concerned, it was like going from a prison camp to a holiday camp. The staff are amazing, very caring and they go above and beyond. The activities are many and various, run by a woman who seems never to stop in her work to keep the residents happy. Probably the best thing that I can say is that if I had to go to a care home myself, I would have to insist that it be Soham Lodge.
Ever since our father came to the home, he has been so happy. There are so many events for him to take part in, he seems to do them all. It's so nice to see the care and attention he receives. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff.
I am so glad that my dad is at Soham Lodge. He has been there for two years and is very happy. All of the staff without exception are professional, diligent, so caring and all go above and beyond in their care. Everything is kept scrupulously clean, at the same time homely. There is a beautiful dining room with table cloths and napkins and the meals always look so tasty. The staff work so hard caring for our loved ones. There are always plenty of activities running throughout the day and they often have live entertainment for the residents. My father loves the singing and often gets up to dance. I know I have no worries as my dad is well-fed, well-groomed and well-loved by all of the wonderful staff. So grateful to you all. I love your Facebook page where we can see what you have all been up to every day. I would unreservedly recommend Soham Lodge as a centre of excellence.
