View Full Details of Oakmont Lodge Care HomeThe Dementia Unit facilities are specifically designed to suit the needs of the residents and to make everyday activities as easy as possible, and this is what my mum needs. There is an impressive programme of activities specifically structured to entertain and involve residents. I have found all those working in the unit to be patient, caring, and thoughtful, and they all take an interest in each of the residents. They have created a lovely atmosphere, and I have been very impressed that they take time to time to chat with residents or help them with something. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and I can see that Mum is very well cared for, nicely dressed, and most of all, content and safe. The menu is varied and appetising, and my mum will always find something she likes. Her room and the unit are very clean and well looked after. The management is excellent, and I highly recommend this unit which is an example of how people with dementia should be cared for.
I would find it difficult to improve on anything in Oakmont Lodge Care Home. My father is treated so well and I especially like the way staff do their utmost to make this feel like a resident's home and treat them accordingly. I love the range of activities on offer to residents that happen on a very regular basis and include outings to different venues. The chef does a great job of meeting individual needs and preferences. Management and care staff are all excellent and very much involved in providing the best care possible. If ever I am at the stage of needing residential care it is where I want to be.
My mother was in Oakmont Lodge Care Home from August until December and was very happy there. The staff were very friendly and professional and always available to speak to. The care my mother received was excellent. There were daily activities organised and the residents could participate if they wanted to which I felt was good as they didn't feel pressured.
My father has been a resident in the closed dementia unit at Oakmont Lodge for nearly a year. The care he receives is outstanding, and I am so impressed with the staff, who are very professional and look after him with so much kindness. My father feels at home in Oakmont Lodge. When I visit, I feel I step into the home of a large family and am welcomed by everyone. The atmosphere is joyful and relaxed. Whenever I discuss any concerns I have about my father's health and care with the staff, I have found that any necessary changes are swiftly put into place. The luxurious decor makes it feel like a classy hotel rather than a care home. The bedrooms are spacious and nicely decorated and have an ensuite bathroom. The easy access to the beautiful enclosed garden is a real bonus for my father, who loves gardening. There is plenty of entertainment and creative craft activities. The food is great. I am so happy we found Oakmont Lodge and truly grateful to all the wonderful, kindhearted staff there.
My dad moved into Oakmont Lodge Care Home May 2022 after returning home from hospital with a care package that did not work out for his needs. His general health and well being has significantly improved since becoming a resident in the home. The home provide an exceptional standard of care both from a health point of view and social well being. There are a wide range of activities and events held in the home for dad to take part in, along with trips out for coffee, lunch and a drives along the coast. The ultimate trip out was organised for my dad in late January, a trip out to see his favourite football team play a live match in Belfast, an amazing gesture on the part of two staff members who helped plan it. We were all overwhelmed by the kindness. The management and staff are amazing, providing a consistent excellent level of care, my sister and I are content he is being well looked after. He has been to more social events than we have this year! A real home from home.
My mother has been a resident of Oakmont for three months now and is very happy. She came out of the hospital to the home quite ill and has been improving in health every day. The staff are excellent, and the standards within the home are exceptional. Friendlt and helpful staff have made Mum's transition from hospital to the home very easy and stressless, which has helped us enormously.
Have been incredibly impressed by Oakmont Lodge Care Home. The staff go the extra mile to help my father, who calls it his "home", and the staff his "family". They attend to his needs incredibly well, and we, as a family, are so happy that we chose this home with him.
My mum-in-law has dementia, and a series of events resulted in her entering Oakmont Lodge. After many weeks in the hospital and then a rehabilitation facility, she was not in a good place mentally, had become very withdrawn and was refusing to eat. After a few weeks in Oakmont, we saw a huge change in her; she was beginning to eat again and engaging with the staff and other residents. Whilst our preference would have been for her to return home, her dementia and physical capabilities meant this was no longer an option, but we could not be happier with Oakmont. The staff and manageress are amazing and approachable, listen to our concerns and are proactive when it comes to anything health-related. My mum-in-law is happy, settled and loves the staff, has made friends with other residents, and most of all are safe. My previous experience of care homes was not favourable, and I was really loathed to place my mum-in-law in one; Oakmont is in a league of its own, and we are extremely happy with it.
My mum moved into Oakmont Lodge last July, and I'm so pleased we chose this care home as it is excellent. My mum settled really quickly into her new home, and she frequently tells me she has no complaints. Mum has a lovely room with an en-suite; she was able to take her own television, computer and recliner chair, all of which I'm sure helped her settle. Mum is happy to stay in her room but is encouraged to take part in the afternoon activities with other residents, which she really enjoys. The staff are all great with Mum. I live in England, so I don't live close to Mum, and I really appreciate being able to contact the care home manager directly. Any queries or concerns I have had have been replied to quickly, so puts my mind at ease. I would recommend Oakmont Lodge to anyone; the facilities within the purpose-built building are brilliant, but it's the care of the staff offered to Mum that makes this care home excellent.
Absolutely excellent care home. Both my parents have unfortunately needed to move into a care home, and I am absolutely delighted with the care they have received. The manager was able to guide me through the process and really made a difference in what was a very difficult time in our lives. I find all the staff very knowledgeable and attentive to my parent's needs. It is great to see that there is not a high turnover of staff, as myself and my parents are able to get to know them and build a relationship with them. This is very important. The facilities are second to none, and the entertainment programme keeps them busy and has helped them integrate into the home. There is always a very welcoming atmosphere in Oakmont, and they are always happy to welcome visitors, which is reassuring. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in need of care for a family member.
Our dad is in the dementia nursing unit. There just arent the words to describe how fantastic the staff are. They are truly amazing. The care is outstanding and the unit is spotless. Staff go above and beyond to ensure residents are treated the way they would look after their own family. Thank you to each and every one of them.
My mum was admitted to Oakmont Lodge Care Home nearly two years ago. She is very well cared for. The staff are great and they don’t have a high turnover of staff the same ones being there. It is the right place for her and she has settled well.
My husband and I visited ten care homes before deciding on Oakmont Lodge Care Home for the perfect place for our friend. This proved to be the right choice as she loved it from the first day. She felt safe and secure and never wanted to leave her room. She has to be moved to nursing care towards the end where she received excellent care and slept away on the 29th of April pain free and comfortable with us at her side.
Feel very lucky to have found this care home five years ago for our friend. She has loved it ever since moving in. The management and care staff have been excellent in every way, always there for the needs of the residents, lots of entertainment and outings. All birthdays celebrated with cakes supplied by the home and shared out to all. I would certainly recommend this care home. You can be sure that your loved ones will be well cared for. Thank you, Oakmont Lodge staff, for all your loved and care for our friend.
My mum has been a resident in Oakmont in the specialist McKee Dementia Nursing unit since November 2021. I cannot speak highly enough of the fabulous staff in this unit, they are all amazing and provide the highest level of professional standards in every way. The facilities are first class, as are the rooms which are modern, bright and a good size and there is a lovely friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Mum has settled really well and the staff have made every effort to get to know mum as an individual and have formed a friendship with her. Nothing is too much bother for the staff and I am happy to say I recommend this dementia unit without reservation. It is so reassuring to know that your loved one is being looked after so well - massive thanks to the lovely staff.
Following a massive brain injury, my son is a resident at Oakmont Lodge Care Home. He has specific needs and very poor communication. He has always been of a very determined nature and staff have coped with this aspect and should be congratulated for their patience. While Oakmount caters mainly for elderly residents I am content that the care and accommodation is the best in Northern Ireland. I congratulate the leadership and staff members in carrying out a very difficult task and would highly recommend Oakview Lodge.
Came here 04/07/2021 to die, eventually by December 21/January 22 I was beginning to try to live a more normal life. At present this is my home. Consequently from time to time "events" happen which leave me unhappy because these would not occur at home. Therefore some of the "events" which occasionally occur have to be seen in this light. Overall, considering the number and classes of residents/patients, I view Oakmont Lodge Care Home as satisfactory. I have viewed other care homes and most would fall short of my assessment of Oakmont Lodge Care Home. We are all human, we all fall short, some of us fight to climb back. I consider Oakmont does, I do.
Generally very happy with home from when we moved Dad in and he has settled very well. This is mainly due to the friendly staff and management. Nursing care has been excellent. Just a couple of minor things that could be improved. Dad is not great at feeding himself and is often dirty when we go to take him out so wearing an apron at meal times would help. Also sometimes not ready when booked to take him out.
Mum is 95, she requires 24-hour care. We looked at care homes in the area and decided to visits three. Oakmont Lodge was the first. Right from entering the home, we just went "wow"; it was fantastic. We were able to choose a great room, which has a superb view. It was so perfect that we cancelled the other two care home viewings. Mum has been a resident now for two weeks. As I write, she just loves it. She is so settled. She is bright and so comfortable. Oakmont Lodge Care Home is a fantastic place. The staff are great. There is just a lovely atmosphere!
My mother has spent 3-months at Oakmont, and we knew instantly that this was the right place for her to be cared for. The property is fresh and modern and has a wonderful garden area, and the rooms are bright and larger than other care homes. The staff are amazing, and Mum has the freedom to enjoy the amenities whilst still being safe and cared for. I would recommend Oakmont due to the high level of care and individual needs that are met by the wonderful staff. My mum is treated as an individual, and despite her dementia, they continue to understand her personality and strive to find out as much about her as a Mum, Grandmother and Wife.
