View Full Details of Hamble Heights Care HomeI recently visited my Aunt and was very impressed with the welcome I received. Most importantly she is very happy, settled and receiving the care and dignity she deserves. Everyone resident and member of staff I encountered seemed to be happy which says so much about a home.
My godmother is well cared for in a beautiful, clean and caring environment by staff who are very attentive to her needs. Thank you.
For the last few months of my friend's life, it was clear that she needed professional care and nursing in a warm friendly efficient environment. In all respects, I can safely say that all her needs were cared for in a highly personalised manner. All the staff, regardless of function or level were very communicative and attentive. If I had any questions, I was very satisfied that they knew the answers relating to my friend. I never felt any sense at any time that my friend was not getting the very best attention that she needed. The staff clearly communicated with each other maintained good records and gave of themselves freely. I feel that the best leadership is in an environment, where the staff know what to do at all times and use their initiative in an appropriate manner. The staff here demonstrated that the leadership and training were excellent. I cannot fault the staff at this home in any way and would recommend this home to anyone.
Our sister has been a resident for 18 months. We completed a review last year and believe we can say most of our responses were good or excellent. Unfortunately, however, we feel we need to complete another review due to the deterioration of the Home. Our sister has informed us there has been a real change, i.e. food, some inedible, lack of choice and variety, especially as she is diabetic Cleanliness, rooms ok, but the crockery and utensils in the dining room are disgraceful. Very badly stained with some having dried on food. Although this has been pointed out many times to the administrative staff there appears to be no change. Staff, no continuity with residents as they are moved around the various floors. Agency Staff employed are not as caring as the permanent staff
My husband has just had his first rest bite stay at Hamble Heights for two weeks. On arrival, the staff were friendly and reassuring and took a lot of time making sure my husband was comfortable also putting plans in place for safe transfer and to make sure he would be safe at all times. I had requested that my husband spend his days in the lounge rather than his room and I feel that every effort was made to make this happen, safety permitting. The food always looked delicious and I know my husband enjoyed it. The carers were attentive, although two or three of them to fifteen residents didn't always feel like another. There often seemed to be an agency nurse on duty rather than the wonderful nurses who knew the residents.
The warmth and friendliness of all staff members is lovely for both the residents and their visiting families. Staff are always informative, patient and also genuinely kind-hearted. The carers go above and beyond and treat all residents with dignity and affection. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, providing a sense of relaxation. Mum enjoys the food and engaging in activities. Although there is already a fantastic wellbeing team in place, I would love to see a few more opportunities for dedicated one-on-one social time. My mum has experienced some minor health issues, but they have been promptly addressed and suitable medication has been prescribed by the local GP. The communication between the nursing home and the GP surgery is truly commendable. As a daughter, this alleviates a significant amount of worry from my mind. Overall, my family and I are incredibly grateful and content with the exceptional level of care and attention that Mum receives at Hamble Heights.
My elderly mother was assessed and accepted by Hamble Heights for long term care. After less than two weeks she was admitted to hospital in the early hours of the morning. The care home struggled to deal with my mother who has dementia and failed to administer her prescribed medication. This resulted in deterioration of her condition as well as behaviour and resulted in the home informing her family they could not have her back with immediate effect. Although some staff were very helpful and kind there did not seem to be an adequate care plan in place.
The staff are kind and very helpful. I've been well looked after. The nursing facilities are great. The home is clean, tidy, and warm and the cleaners come every day. My room is clean, warm and tidy and great hygiene. The garden is very pretty and suits our needs. It's been great to meet new friends while staying here. There are activities offered all day with entertainment and animals bought into the home.
My husband has only been here a short time, but we have been very pleased with the care and attention he has received. The staff are very friendly and make the family feel very welcome. A few teething issues with his laundry, etc. But we hope this will be resolved.
Everything is 10/10. The staff are very very friendly and helpful as well as being creative.
A short respite stay, enjoyable in every way, with good food, lovely staff, and friendly caring people.
Dad resided at Hamble Heights from September 2020 until May 2023 following a stroke which left him paralysed down one side, unable to swallow needing a rig for medicine and food with severe speech difficulties. Dad has been looked after under very difficult circumstances with the utmost respect, care and attention from all members of staff. They have always communicated well with the family and kept us well informed and allowing access to Dad at all times to all members of the family which are many to visit. During Covid, the home provided the best possible visiting access that rules would allow, which we really appreciated. We have always felt that Dad was in the best place receiving love, care and attention at all times even under very difficult circumstances which gave the family peace of mind. Thank you all very much.
From the moment Mum entered the care home in August 2022. she was treated with the utmost love, care and respect from every member of staff. Although she was bedridden she received every care and attention and was exceedingly happy there.
My Mother has been a resident at Hamble Heights for 17 months. We chose the home as its near the family and is purpose built. However, the most important reasons are the wonderful care staff and nurses and the excellent food. My Mother tells me that there is always an alternative dish served if you would rather have this. The activities organiser is great and very innovative, although it is difficult for those with a visual impairment to take part in too many activities. They gave my Mum a fabulous 100th birthday party! I mentioned the care staff and nurses above but of course thanks and praise should also go to all the other staff in the home who help to make everything run smoothly.
My husband stayed in Hamble Heights for a few weeks to give me a break from caring for him 24/7. I am pleased with the care he received and found all the staff I met friendly and helpful. I hope he will be able to have another "holiday" there.
Dad has been here since August 2020 having been evacuated From Southampton Hospital during the first wave of covid. We did not have a choice of where he went due to covid but my nephew works for the patient transport service & said whenever he dropped off patients or picked them up the home was clean and fresh smelling and staff were friendly and helpful. The home and staff have been amazing. To begin with he was able to participate in activities that they put on which was brilliant. My favourite was the locks and bolts board. So good for the dexterity. Dad has advanced dementia and is now bed bound and unable to communicate at all but he is always clean shaven, nails clipped and in bed with appropriate pillows etc. the nurses and carers have always been kind and I thank them every week that they take such good care of Dad. I am a nurse myself but Im not sure I could do this role.
Mum has been resident here for a few months now and is settling in very well. The staff are great and she's very complimentary about them and also the food. We had fears she would not settle but now she's made some friends, she is very much more relaxed. She also seems to have a new lease of life since settling in here, which is absolutely great. Love the fact that dogs are taken in to see the residents as she loves that. It is also great that the family can take theirs in to see her.
What can I say. Absolutely excellent home and the most caring team of staff that I have ever had the pleasure to know. My father had a particularly terrible type of dementia and like all people living with dementia was tortured by some of the awful debilitating side effects. Staff always treated him with dignity and respect and made our family feel like part of their family. Dad sadly passed away at the end of January but it is only now that I feel that I can speak about the experience. The Manager and the deputy manager were just fantastic and let us stay with my father all day, every day and allowed us too use an empty room so that we could catch up on sleep but all be close by. There were just the most amazing team and he died a very peaceful, painless death with all of his family by his side. This home is outstanding and staff always go the extra mile to ensure that residents and their families are made to feel welcome and included.
My husband is 64 years old and suffers with Parkinson's and Dementia. Sadly, in 2020 it became impossible for me to continue caring for him and giving him the level of support he needs. After a stay in hospital, he was transfereds to Hamble Heights, and although the choice of home was out of my hands due to Covid, I can truly say that he is in the best care home ever. Staff go above and beyond to make sure the residents are happy and entertained on a daily basis. At what is a horrendous time they have given me strength and supported us both to get through the challenges that this awful disease has thrown at us. I feel able to call them anytime of day or night, for a chat or sometimes just cry on the phone to them, and know that they will always be happy to listen. The staff have become our family. The home is spotlessly clean, the rooms are large and bright, the garden is lovely but it is the staff that make this home exceptional.
My husband has been in Hamble Heights since April 20201. He sadly passed away in January 2022. The manager and all the staff were so wonderful to us both and our family. They went above and beyond all our expectations and supported us through this awful time. We were able to stay with my husband until he passed away. We will be eternally grateful to all at Hamble Heights.
