View Full Details of Acacia Care CentreSince my mother became a resident the standard of care has been exceptional. The carers take time with her, she is always in the activity lounge and although she does interact with other residents she is happy and content to be with others. Her room is large and airy with plenty of chairs for visitors. The lounge is large and the restaurant is comfortable. There is plenty of space for chairs in communal areas. All the staff are friendly.
My mother has vastly improved, from staying at Acaia. Mum had been quite down when she entered the home. I am so pleased my mother has finally been able to go out. Mum has been taken out into the garden, which she really enjoys.
Placing our dear Mum in nursing care was the hardest decision. We must have viewed over 50 places searching for 'the one'. The Acacia provided complete reassurance that our decision was the right one. Perhaps all too common a story, Mum arrived from a long stay in hospital in a parlous state with a palliative diagnosis and stroke-induced cognitive impairment. Within weeks of being in their warm and supportive environment (& delicious home-cooked food!) she was well enough to go out on a day trip which she hadn't done in years. It wasn't all plain sailing of course; having lived independently for 90 years, it wasn't going to be. The empathy and skill with which the manager and staff handled her complex emotional and physical challenges through to the end is a testament to their exceptional person-centred care. She absolutely loved engaging with the staff and it was a great comfort to us that Mum was valued and understood for the person she was. We remain ever thankful to everyone at Acacia.
Can't believe I've found the perfect home for my dear friend. The manager and staff are just so friendly and accommodating. I can approach any member of staff. From the manager, assistant manager, receptionists, nurses, activity ladies, handyman, cleaners, laundry staff and catering staff, they all seem happy. Always greet me with a warm smile. I am generally perceptive of people so I know what I see. My friend likes taking part in the activities. I have visited her and joined in the bingo and art classes. I take her to sit in the lovely garden which she enjoys. The chickens are a favourite. She mimics the cockerel. Animals are allowed to visit as well. I have taken my Cockapoo, Bradley, who she loves, to see her. A big thank you to the manager and her amazing team for making Acacia Care the wonderful caring Home that it is. The biggest compliment I can give is to the manager. This is the sort of home I would want for myself if ever I had to go into care.
I want to express my gratitude for the help my mother has received at the care home by everyone who works here. The care has been exceptional which has improved the overall well-being of my mother.
Acacia has a pleasant ambience. It is always kept very clean. The staff are all friendly, helpful, genuinely caring and patient. It feels calm and well-organised. Medical needs are attended to as you'd expect by a diligent nursing team along with regular visits from a local GP. Activities organised by the excellent lifestyle team help residents to feel part of a community. My father transferred from a hospital stay. His care needs changed as his health recovered. The care he received was adapted to his changing needs and I'm sure this will continue if his capabilities diminish in future. The manager and other staff are excellent, always willing to listen to any concerns and make changes if needed. Overall, I see residents being treated with dignity, and with care tailored to their individual needs. Staff do their best to facilitate worthwhile a quality of life. I am always welcomed warmly when I'm able to visit and feel confident that Dad is well cared for at other times.
My husband has been a resident in Acacia since January 2024. He arrived at the home significantly malnourished and in very poor health. He has made good progress as far as his disease permits. Since becoming a resident he has gained weight, the accommodation facilitates his needs to be independent. He also benefits from the routine the nursing home provides, regarding mealtimes, snacks and his medication. Acacia is run under the management where staff are caring and fully accessible both to residents and family. The entertainment provided is for all the residents regardless of their disability. Entertainment is sometimes provided by outside providers as well as in-house. On one of my visits last week, I walked into my husband's room and there was a Shetland pony! He was so overwhelmed emotionally. There are regular meetings held for relatives with visiting speakers. I feel a great sense of relief knowing he is cared for 24 hours a day which I was unable to provide myself.
My mother has been in this dementia care nursing home since last year, the family and I are so grateful to the nursing staff for their care and support for all of her nursing care needs. The home has a friendly family atmosphere, nothing is ignored if we have any concerns, the health care assistants are very attentive. We feel lucky that our mother is in a home-from-home environment. The home is managed well and the quality improvement of "you say, I do" really works. Thank you Acacia Nursing Home.
I have been a resident at Acacia Care Centre for 5 years. The home is ok. Activities are good, the trips are good and there is a variety of trips. Staff are good, some are exceptional and these I feel comfortable with. The manager and duty manager are good at their job, the receptionist is good at her job. Maintenance is excellent and always does any jobs I require immediately or as soon as he can. I get on with the weekend receptionists as well and all the reception staff are helpful The regular nurse on my unit does her job right and always makes sure things are done I am unable to eat or drink so am not commenting on food.
A huge thank you to all the staff, for the care and support you have given my dad. Dad arrived just before Christmas 2023. Within a few days, Dad had fitted in well, and loves being there. Dad loves playing dominoes, most afternoons Dad walks to the lounge and plays dominoes with his friends, and joins in on some of the daily activities, he eats well, the food is really good, he has a lovely room, which is lovely and clean. We celebrated his 92 birthday this week, with family, which was lovely! Once again thank you, you are amazing! From a very happy daughter.
My mum went into the care of the wonderful team at Acacia in December 2023. When I went for a show around I was greeted by 1 of the weekend receptionists who was clearly proud to show us the facilities. I immediately felt at ease and I knew that Mum would be happy there. On Mum's first day, she took part in the activities and continued to do so at every opportunity. She particularly enjoyed the day trips to the museums and places of interest as well as the extensive weekly activity programme, which is shared with relatives. The menus are changed regularly and there is an extensive choice which caters for all dietary requirements. The Manageress and all her staff are beyond superb. I think she has personally handpicked them all as they are so kind, patient and genuinely care for all the residents. Mum needed specialist nursing care and what she received was exemplary, right up until the very end and then she was treated with the utmost respect and dignity. Excellent and I highly recommend it.
My mum has been in Acacia Care Centre, this will be her 4th year. She had her struggles in the beginning but once she had settled she loved it. I love it because we as a family always get a warm welcome from the receptionist to carers, nurses to cleaners, even the tea lady, all the staff are amazing. My mum loves the visits from the animals and bingo. The food is great. She gets a birthday cake from them every year which is lovely but we still bring her one too, she always says she's going to share it. It's very reassuring when we leave her that she's taken care of and happy. If I have any complaints it's that my mum has a better social life than me.
My Dad has been in Acacia Care home since December 2023, I was very worried at the beginning as it was the first time that my Dad would be placed within a residential setting. However, I was greeted with the greatest smile from the receptionist, she was so warm and friendly, as she showed me around the entire unit. I then wanted to talk to the care assistants, I was very happy to observe how they were with the clients, as they were personable, caring and approachable. My dad's stay has been second to none, they are providing excellent care, and he is extremely happy as they cater for his every need. I highly recommend the home to all, and I am very happy with the manager, as she is always available to speak to all family members when required. The standard is very high and the accommodation is to an excellent standard!
My mother gradually became happier as she stayed on at Acacia. The cleanliness is excellent there, her privacy respected with good security plus a lot of patience. We feel at ease with the staff and my experience is that they know me by name there. There is a tea/coffee area or even a library (or bar!) if you want a break whilst visiting. My mother has been at Acacia about five years and, although she is challenging at times (with dementia), I have never heard a deprecating remark about her. She is less frightened and generally watches her favourite TV programmes whilst watching over her dolls. Her hair is carefully trimmed.
Mum has been at Acacia Care Centre for a whole year this month. The time has really gone quickly! She was admitted to the centre straight from the hospital and not in the best condition. She was thin, hardly eating/drinking and had a major pressure sore on her left heel. It was black! Now she has reached her optimal condition, she has gained weight and is eating/drinking satisfactorily. The pressure sore is completely healed and she's alert and smiley and back to her old self. Due to her dementia, she does need total hands-on care which is delivered at a high standard.
This centre has been a godsend for my mum since she came here, my first experience of a nursing home has been amazing and the staff have gone above and beyond and have made her feel welcome. If you are ever worried about a nursing home for your family member just come in and speak to the receptionist or even the centre manager, they will answer any question you have or show you around and quash any worries. This December they had so many activities on for the people here, Christmas carols, games, pets at therapy, Christmas and New Year’s parties and dinners. The food is amazing and fresh every day. This centre is amazing and if I had to use one again I would use this centre again.
A lovely clean place with a nice outdoor/garden area for residents. A friendly, welcoming and caring staff team led by a wonderful supportive manager. They all clearly cared about my dad and looked after him so well.
Management was superb and always on hand. Very friendly and welcoming. One of the best managers I've had to deal with. Was a pleasure having her manage the home where my mum once was. The place was lovely and clean, reception staff were very professional as well.
My experience at this care centre has been very good. The staff have been friendly and understanding of the resident's needs. I am happy with what I see.
Our dad was taken to the Acacia Care Centre in February 2023. Sadly, he passed away in June - but those months he spent at the centre, being looked after by management and the team were a huge comfort to our family. Dad was very ill and was treated with such care and dignity. Each time we visited we were made to feel incredibly welcome and we know that, even in the short time he was there, our Dad was very well looked after. We had thought long and hard about putting him into such a place but we knew from the moment we went there and met the team that we had made the right decision.
