View Full Details of Groveland Park Care HomeThis is my 3rd visit to see my friend I know he is comfortable and all of his needs are met admirably he is happy and is contented in himself and I have noticed he looked better in himself as he is now eating much better. The staff are so good and nothing seems too much for them which I find genuine. Thank you.
I visit my friend in Groveland Park Care Home once every 1-2 weeks. I find that the care that my friend gets is very good, and his needs are well managed. The staff are both polite and friendly to both my friend and myself (a visitor). I often stay for a meal with my friend and always find the food well cooked and hot. The only downside is that when my friend is in pain and asks for paracetamol, it is often a long time coming because the person who dispenses medicines is on another floor.
My mother stayed at Groveland Park for 3 weeks following a stay in hospital. She entered the home incredibly weak under weight unable to do most simple tasks for herself. During her stay, she made incredible progress. 3 weeks later she had put on weight began walking again and was able to return to her house. During her stay, we enjoyed the facilities. Grovelands let us use the cinema room to celebrate a belated Christmas as my mother had missed Christmas whilst being in hospital. We were also treated to a magic show as the Carehome were holding an event that evening. The staff were extremely accommodating and we enjoyed drinks from the bistro and enjoyed celebrating Christmas. My aunt is also a resident at the Carehome and we also were able to celebrate her birthday at the same. It was the first time the whole family had been together for over a year it was a very special, memorable evening.
Mum seemed more cheerful this morning, the ladies made us drinks in the bistro bar whilst we played games. The bistro bar has been refurbished to a high standard and having a coffee there feels like having a drink in a hotel lounge. One thing I would query is that dogs don't seem to be allowed in the bistro bar and I would consider this a retrograde step. My mum always liked dogs and it would be good for her to interact with our dog and other residents and family dogs. Overall we are very happy with the service. Fine dining is an excellent concept and we really enjoyed it just before Christmas.
Care and staff are excellent but not good at keeping family up to date despite frequent requests. Food and drink all lovely and plenty of it, home-cooked and tasty and good variety. In the last year, they stopped relatives eating with residents in the bistro and have to sit in the dining room and that's hard and not enough room for more than one person. Very unwilling to allow me to discuss with decision-makers at head office. Feel very uncomfortable and shut out and lost another part of Mum.
Excellent facility providing very good care. Can find nothing which I am unhappy about after 7 months of my father being in care here. Would recommend home to whoever asked.
Mum is very happy at Groveland and takes part in all the activities. The hair and nails facility is great for her and the dining is excellent. The home provided lovely food for my mum's birthday in the newly refurbished bistro. They laid it all out for the family so we could all relax with Mum. The two members of staff in the bistro are amazing - nothing is too much trouble. Mum is looked after very well and is always smiling. Thanks to all the staff.
Always been very good when I visit. The redecoration is excellent.
My dad first stayed at Groveland Park Care Home in February 2024 for 5 weeks of respite, however, after the 5 weeks he decided he wanted to be a resident as the staff were so caring and he especially felt safe at night, knowing someone was there 24 hours if he needed help with anything. The home was spotlessly clean. All staff from the laundry up to the manager were so friendly and made Dad's life there happy and very well looked after. Thank you all for everything you did for him.
More show home than care home! My dad lived here for 14 months until he was asked to leave because they no longer accepted insulin-dependent residents. The care quality varies depending on who is working. While he is better off now, the process of relocating a loved one is stressful and unsettling, something the management doesn't seem to consider. Staff turnover is alarmingly high, and there are never enough staff. I witnessed a man told to wet himself because no one could help him to the toilet. My dad was assaulted twice in six months by other residents and his personal items, including his wedding and signet rings, went missing. Though the home looks nice, management prioritizes appearance over care. Carers are trained to fold napkins but lack proper skills to care for dementia patients with patience and empathy. There's no specialized dementia care, just a floor for residents with dementia. Do not put your loved one here thinking it will be their forever home, it probably won't be.
My Dad moved into Groveland in August 2023 and settled well. Initially everything seemed excellent however as my Dad's condition deteriorated due to his dementia it became apparent that this care home is not equipped to deal with dementia patients with the level of care and compassion required. My Dad was very settled yet due to his diabetes and the home's inability to offer the level of care required when coupled with dementia, he was served notice to find an alternative care home. This is not what we expected when we placed our Dad into this care home and shows that they don't really care about the residents. This care home is only interested in its profits, when it actually has to care for its residents it's time to move them on. Please think very carefully before trusting your loved ones with these people.
Staff are always very warm and welcoming, facilities are excellent with frequent refurbishment and upgrades in rooms and communal areas with very high detail and comfort for residents and their visitors. All residents are known well by name and supported to make their own choices and retain as much independence and autonomy as is safe for them to do so. Residents are offered regular days out and in-house activities that offer a wide variety of fun, and stimulation. Hair and nails are cared for offering a real pampering experience for those who enjoy this. Birthdays are celebrated for all residents with banners and birthday cakes and much celebration to ensure they have a very special day. I think we would all hope to remain in our own homes and enjoy our freedom for as long as we possibly can, but then when that is no longer safe or manageable, Grovelands would be at the very top of my wish list for myself as well as my loved ones! Many thanks to all the staff for all you do.
Mum has stayed here at Groveland Park a few times for respite and the home has always provided good care, the staff and manager are lovely and always there if you want to speak with them. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone who has a relative or loved one to stay either permanently or respite. Although I would rather not share this lovely home with others as it may be too full for when Mum needs respite again as it's a little gem. Thank you all who looked after Mum this November.
Mum seems to be very happy at Groveland. She enjoys the interaction with the staff and is always smiling when I come to visit.
Taking my sister to visit our cousin it was wonderful to see how well she had settled in. A lovely little ensuite bedroom with a little attached garden, perfect for her. A very great sense of safety and security and friendship despite her growing 'dementia.' She didn't know who we are till my sister showed her family photos. Being able to have a very good meal with her too was an added blessing, and all the staff were friendly and welcoming.
My mum has been at Groveland Park for almost a year - she was quite poorly and underweight when she arrived. She is now in very good health and is back to her normal weight. She has been very happy there and I have nothing but praise for all the staff who care for her so well. She enjoys all the food which is of a very high quality and she joins in with a lot of activities. Her mind is also much sharper than previously. Highly recommend!
A pleasant meeting with my friend in her room, tea and coffee served to us. I was my first visit to the home, I was greeted by the staff, they were polite, helpful and friendly.
We have a lovely visit on Saturday 17th February. The staff at the home were extremely helpful and we had a lovely lunch whilst visiting. There was a very relaxed homely feel and atmosphere. Thank you for making our visit such a pleasure.
Lovely visit to see our aunt who was in the home. Other residents were enjoying activities and it was delightful to see an enthusiastic activities staff member get the ' best' from the ladies. All staff welcoming.
My friend entered Groveland Park in October 2019, suffering from Alzheimer's. We were assured it would be a home for life, providing he didn't require nursing care. Initially, the service was exceptional providing an outstanding level of care, activities and lots of staff interaction. Following Covid my friend's Alzheimer's/Dementia deteriorated and staff seemed to interact with him less. The staff struggled to maintain his personal care. On agreement, he was moved to the Dementia Unit. There was no plan or communication for settling him in. I witnessed two staff on the dementia unit and at both times they were stressed and under pressure, finding it difficult to deal with the residents' needs. My friend's behaviour deteriorated, Groveland's sent him to hospital and the manager refused to have him back. I requested a report on my friend's needs from the manager to help re-home him, but this was never provided. My friend is in another Care Home, settled and the staff can deal with his personal care.
