View Full Details of Brunel HouseFrom the moment I looked around Brunel House I knew it was the right care home for my Dad from the warmth & kindness from all of the staff. They were also really supportive and helpful with managing Dad's move and have all made him feel so welcome. He has settled in well and is always telling me how kind everyone is. As a family we really appreciate how well Dad's individual needs have been met and the continuous programme of activities and support available to support him with his dementia.
The staff, without exception, were all very caring, over and beyond their duties.
Now our dad has been moved floors, he's so much happier, he has the garden to look at through the window, staff on that floor seem to have more time for Dad, he's eating well and sleeping better. Can't thank Brunel House staff enough for what they are doing, lovely care home.
Overall, all level of staff members are very caring, professional, attentive and strive to go above and beyond where possible. Mom has learned to know the various people around the routines etc. and is very content. Maintenance could be improved of the building, especially the exterior and garden.
I want to congratulate and thank all the activity team and other staff members at Brunel House for their fantastic week of activities in aid of Dementia Week, led by the Dementia Care Co-ordinator. They have all worked so hard to put on a huge range of activities catering to all the residents' differing strengths, and it was plain to see how much it was enjoyed by everyone, including relatives! We had a 1950's themed party, a Big Brunel Quiz afternoon, entertainment by the residents and then the staff and lots more! It was so lovely to see my mother joining in, laughing and having such fun, as well as the other residents, and I feel very lucky that she's in such a wonderful, caring home, with a full activity programme every day, including weekends. Thank you again to you all.
My mother has had to go into residential care and we could not have chosen a better place for her. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms are comfortable and clean, Mum says the food is delicious, and nothing is too much trouble. Mum has settled really well, is joining in with the activities (despite not being a very sociable person!) and has made new friends. As a family, we have felt very well supported and all the staff have been so kind and helpful. We cannot rate the team and facilities at Brunel House highly enough.
My mum was a resident for just over 6 months. Her dementia had got to the stage where it was no longer safe for her to live in her own home. She was admitted to Brunel straight from hospital. She had a lovely room on the 1 st floor, and it was always clean and tidy. My mum could be a challenge at times but she seemed very settled here, and I knew that she was safe and secure 24 hours a day. The care ,support and encouragement from the staff was excellent. All the staff I encountered were always friendly and informative, and were on hand when I needed an update on mums continuing health or concerns.
Completely love what Brunel is all about - the staff care level is perfect! Like everyone in the industry, there are occasional staffing level issues, but all the staff are faultless. They have all contributed to a superb quality of life for my crazy aunt; the staff have to put up with her! We all have absolute faith in Brunel's ability to deliver on promises, and they have consistently done so over the last 18 months - she looks ten years younger! We would never consider moving her; she is very happy and settled and continues to get up mischief. A massive thank you to Brunel for everything! Well done guys; thank you so much.
We have been very pleased with the care support my father-in-law and our family have received in Brunel House Care Home. The member of staff in reception is outstanding always welcoming, considerate and helpful. The care staff are very friendly and caring to my father-in-law and welcoming to all members of our family.
My grandmother has been living at Brunel House for a year and I have recommended the home to others. I disagree with a previous review saying the home is unsafe for the following reasons. I visit daily, for periods of up to 6 hours. As my grandmother is 100 she sleeps a lot so I spend some time in the common parts and I can honestly say I have never seen safety as a issue. The entrance door is sometimes left open, weather permitting, as the ground floor is a residential floor and those residents need, want and deserve the right to wander in and out to sit on the chairs and get fresh air. Reception is manned by two charming ladies and when they are not on duty I have found the door closed. The lower and upper floors are secure units with key codes to open doors and operate the lift. Over the past 15 years I have spent most of my time in 5 different care homes as one family member after another has succumbed to dementia and I have to say Brunel is the best, by far.
Safety an issue as the main door is left open. Reception into the main body of the home is left open, this is a risk as unauthorised people can enter the home. Reception is not manned at all times. Also, there is potential for residents to leave the home and staff would not know where they are.
Mum stayed in respite for a month and has stayed before, both times have been a very positive experience. The carers are so kind and she will certainly return. Thank you to all the Brunel House Care Home staff.
Throughout my brother's stay at Brunel House, I have found his care to be faultless. He was always clean and his room was tidy. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and there was never a care home whiff that I recall in other establishments! I always recall his first phone conversation after he moved in... "I have lots of friends here, we have a really good time". It would be difficult to overstate my relief and gratitude when I heard this. He stayed with you for three and a half years... Thank you so much!
Second time for respite care, which speaks of our high regard for Brunel House. My husband was treated with dignity and respect. He loves the food and the friendly atmosphere. He was so well looked-after that we shall return.
We are very pleased to have found such a pleasant environment for Mum. She is very happy here. The staff are lovely.
My experience of Brunel House Care House has been very positive. The assessment process was smooth and efficient especially as the home was busy preparing for Christmas at the same time. The staff listened to my concerns and not only supported my mother during her move into Brunel House but also supported me. I was very worried how my mother would settle and raised concerns about my mother's anxieties but the staff have been brilliant and addressed all her needs in a very professional manner. The communication with me has been excellent, not only do they spend time talking to me they also call to let me know how my mother is. I cannot fault any aspect of Brunel House.
I found staff at Brunel all very friendly and helpful. I had no complaints whilst my husband was in their care. Eight weeks and two days of care. More staff would make it more efficient and less pressure on existing staff, but I felt the staff did all within the time allocated to them, to be caring and kind and to do a very valuable job.
All the staff are very friendly and always pleased to help. The rooms are bright and airy, with plenty of room to move about. Keeps us informed if Mum is ill or has a fall. Plenty to do for the residents if you want to. Really pleased with the home as Mum has only arrived the last couple of months.
In general, the interaction between staff and the residents was good and there were two or three members of staff who were really excellent. Of course, not all staff were involved. The atmosphere between carers and residents seemed better during the week than at the weekends. Afterwards, I was told by a resident that the care was good, the food was alright and that it was safe and relaxing.
Brunel House staff have always been so welcoming always greeting on first name terms. Whole atmosphere is friendly. All the staff are cheerful and carry a smile. My husband is well looked after. and I feel happy to leave his care in their hands. My mother was also a resident here a few years ago and I would not hesitate to recommend Brunel House.
