View Full Details of Carrickfergus ManorMum has come on so well, she was moved from another home to Carrickfergus Manor. Her mobility has improved greatly and she's able to walk herself with the help of her rolator, always plenty of activities going on and she's enjoying everything.
I have visited three people on many occasions over the last several months. Each time, I have been made very welcome by every member of staff. Whenever I had any queries/questions for staff they were always dealt with quickly. I cannot praise and thank the staff enough, as they always showed love, care and compassion for everyone. The lady who is manager was always willing to help in anyway possible, with a welcoming smile.
My father was a resident in Carrickfergus Manor for just over 1 year. We were very happy with the care and attention that he received. The staff were very kind and spent a lot of time chatting to him and learning about him. They kept us clearly informed and seemed to be very fond of our dad. He enjoyed their company and their laughs and jokes. I have recommended Carrickfergus Manor to other people based on our experience. Thank you so much for all you did for our father, we appreciate that very much.
My husband has lewey body, frontotemperal and Alzheimer's dementia and has been in Carrickfergus Manor since October 2023 to date. I have at all times felt a genuine lovely, caring attitude with staff - towards my husband and empathy for visitors. They are consistent and not high staff turnover. My father in law was here six years and many still remember us and him to this day. When my husband was in hospital, carers phoned us to check on him and worked miracles to help him walk again. I have volunteered in care homes and visited a lot but never seen activities and music like Carrickfergus Manor - amazing.
As a family, we cannot fault Carrickfergus Manor. It has provided excellent care to my mother and a reassurance to the family that she is in a great place for her.
Over the years Carrickfergus Manor has welcomed 3 aunts, 1 uncle and 1 sister in law into their care. The staff treat the residents with dignity, respect and compassion. On any given day when you pay a visit to Carrickfergus Manor you will find that the staff are engaging with the residents and there are always activities going on for them such as painting, singing and looking after the garden. There are regular gatherings in the big room when entertainment is organised with a local musician and the residents are singing along and in some cases having a wee dance. There have also been other days during the summer when they have been gathered together to enjoy a milk shake or ice cream. All in all my respect for the staff and facilities at Carrickfergus Manor is second to none.
My uncle was in Carrickfergus Manor for 10 months and received nothing but the most excellent care the whole time. He was recently in hospital and on his discharge required a placement in the nursing part of the home. There were no beds immediately available, but the staff pulled out all the stops to get a room for him. All of the staff from the manager to laundry support we're excellent. One of the laundry workers even visited my uncle in hospital - a round journey of over 50 miles. Well done Carrickfergus Manor.
I visit Carrickfergus Manor twice a week. In my opinion, a few of the care staff could do with retraining. This applies only to the nursing floor (upstairs). The nurses are excellent and they are an asset to the nursing home.
My mum arrived in Carrickfergus Manor a few months ago, since her arrival she has been treated with dignity and respect she is currently in the nursing wing and confined to bed at this time. The nursing care she has received has been second to none so much so that hopefully she will be allowed out of bed very soon and be able to enjoy the fantastic facilities in the home. mum enjoys the food and little treats like ice cream, milkshakes, etc that come in between. whenever I go to visit Mum I can hear the entertainment room buzzing with residents who seem to enjoy that day's entertainment. The gardens are beautiful the staff and management are welcoming and pleasant the whole ambiance of Carrickfergus Manor is just fantastic. we as a family are very happy with the care Mum is receiving and would certainly recommend it to anyone it is like a 5-star hotel.
The home is an excellent place and looks after my mother since her arrival with the utmost care. All of the staff are knowledgeable in their care. My mother feels safe, is looked after and receives support. Her meals are well catered for and she is clean and happy. As a caregiver I can see how well the place is run and I don't worry about her care. All staff, especially nurse staff and managers, are approachable and listen and respond to any questions.
Carrickfergus Manor is a beautiful home and the staff are amazing. They work tirelessly in the most heart-breaking circumstances at times. My only negative is that there is not enough staff and residents could benefit from more interaction on the nursing floor like there is on the residential floor.
I've nothing but positive things to say about this care home. My mum loves living there and that is all that counts. They interact well with people who stay there, plenty of activities and entertainment for them.
My dad moved to Carrickfergus Manor in May. It was very hard to let him go, as I had been his carer. From the day he entered the home, I felt at ease. They are all amazing and so good with him, even in his difficult days. We work together if any problems arise, which can happen, but they always put my dad first and I thank them for all they do and can’t speak highly enough of all the staff.
Each time I have visited my friend in Carrickfergus Manor I have been struck by the warmth and friendliness of the care staff. They make this a real home for the residents, relating to them with patience and genuine friendship. I know my friend is in the best of hands.
My mum has been so well looked after from day one. Yes, it takes a while for a new resident to get to know the staff and vice versa. Everybody's needs are different and staff deserve all the praise for adapting to such needs. Carrickfergus Manor staff all are very accommodating to residents and visitors alike. The work volunteers do for the garden is not to be forgotten about. The place looks so approachable from entrance.
My Mother and Father are both residents. They are being well looked after and all their needs catered for. When I visit the staff are friendly and unobtrusive so my time spent with my parents is more relaxing.
Both my elderly parents are resident in this care home and I find that, to most of the staff, looking after them is more than just a job. My mother passed away on 27/07/23 and the staff could not have done any more for my mum and dad. I cannot thank them enough.
Yesterday I found my mother lying in bed with her 2 eyes glued together with an eye infection. When I called the nurse she said if she thought she had an infection she would ring the doctor. I said she clearly has an eye infection so yes you need to ring the doctor. I asked her to clean my mother's eyes which she then did and then said that was the third time she had cleaned them. My mother was lying in her bed with her trousers around her ankles unable to see, unable to even get herself a drink. Also, a used morphine patch had been left sitting on a chest of drawers and going by the date it must have been left there for 4 days. I could go on with lots more. Almost every time I visit my mother there is an issue. I am appalled with the lack of care my mother receives at Carrickfergus Manor.
We were delighted when Mum got a place in Carrickfergus Manor Care Home. It is even better than we had hoped and it helped us to realise that we have done the best we could for her. The facilities, care, people, food, entertainment etc. have exceeded our expectations. So, thank you to everyone who goes beyond the call of duty in caring for the residents.
In my experience, Carrickfergus Manor has been an excellent care residence for my mother who has been there for four years. This is reflected each time I see her considering her condition. This is more especially during the pandemic period and it is a credit to all the care home staff in keeping Mum safe and well and especially her wellbeing. All staff have been very helpful each time I visit. Strict rules on sanitising each time I enter the building helps my reassurance. Thank you again to the management and staff for their attention to Mum and all in a difficult time.
