View Full Details of Foxburrow Grange Care HomeThe staff on Hedgehog treat mum with respect and dignity. Mum is very elderly, far older than most of us will ever aspire to. She has vascular dementia alongside other health conditions including ovarian cancer. Mum can be very difficult at times, demanding her own way and very stubborn - but staff understand and manage this well to keep her safe. She is very frail and hardly eats but the staff try very hard to encourage and cook and offer alternatives even though she then declines those too. Staff keep me informed through the App and call if there is something more serious. They always welcome me when I arrive- both in the unit and reception. Staff are clearly concerned for her ongoing welfare and personal wishes whatever they may be at the time. They apply principles of best wishes as necessary. As a result mum does feel loved and I am happy that she is in a secure and caring environment. Our family views are endorsed by mum's latest LA Deprivation of Liberty and BIA reports.
My dad is currently receiving end-of-life care following his admission with Alzheimer's roughly five months ago. The care and nursing he has received have been second to none, not to mention the care we have all received as a family whilst staying with dad in his final days and hours. The management and staff have gotten everything right with their approach and attention to detail. Thank you all so, so much.
I viewed Foxburrow Grange for urgent respite care at 11am one Friday morning and my parent was admitted around 6pm in the evening. The service and care from the staff towards myself and parent has been phenomenal.
I cannot speak highly enough of Foxburrow Grange. The staff here are incredibly friendly and accommodating, always going above and beyond to ensure that the residents feel comfortable and well-cared for. Every time I visit, I'm greeted with warmth and genuine kindness from everyone. The atmosphere is always positive and uplifting, creating a lovely and welcoming environment for the residents. It's clear that the well-being and happiness of the residents are a top priority here. In addition to the excellent care, the food is good! They offer a great variety of nutritious and tasty meals, which my husband always enjoys. I have peace of mind knowing my husband is in such good hands at Foxburrow Grange. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a caring and supportive environment for their loved ones.
We are very pleased with our Mum's care at Foxburrow Grange. The Home is very light and airy as purpose-built. The management are happy to listen to any concerns we may have. We are particularly pleased by the morning activity programme during week days.
My mother has been with Foxburrow for over 12 months - the 3rd she has been in. Today I messaged them. I see so many articles on social media from families that are struggling with care homes that don't care, evict loved ones for occasional challenging behaviour, send people to hospitals and then aren't allowed back and are constantly arguing with Managers and Carers. I count myself very lucky that I have had so much support from Foxburrow - laundry when she was hiding and stealing clothes, maintenance when she was flushing everything down the toilet, all when she was constantly escaping, all with her challenging behaviour. The nurses with medication and the night shift with mum's antics. The support I have had is outstanding and every time I see another story from it reminds me how lucky I am. It's hard to convey to everyone how much they are all appreciated so please pass on my thanks. Don't go on CQC reports alone - Please go and view the home and meet the teams.
When my husband is down he's not to good, it brings me down too and the carers take time to comfort me.
My husband has been well looked after since arriving. He is settled and enjoys joining in activities especially when music is involved. Visitors are always welcomed.
For the time that we have been here, I cannot fault Foxburrow Grange Care Home. It is wonderful. The care and attention the staff give each client is outstanding, from entering the building to leaving the premises the same courtesy is given to each visitor.
My husband had his 91st birthday and we took him to a friend's house (very near) to have lunch. We all had a very happy time but when we arrived back it was even better! His room had been decorated with balloons and photos of him enjoying some of the activities which are always on offer. Everyone was wishing him a happy birthday when a young man came in with the most beautiful cake which the chef had made for him. That was really the icing on the cake! I can't praise all the staff enough for going well over what should be their job to ensure that the residents feel cared for and happy.
Our Mum has been at Foxburrow Grange Care Home for 2 months now and we feel she is in good hands. Mum says the food is good and the home is always fresh and clean. Whilst it's been quite difficult for Mum to settle in, the staff have all been very kind, friendly and helpful, especially the ones who work in Badger Unit, they have gone out of their way to spend time with Mum which is greatly appreciated. The Activity Coordinator has been wonderful and deserves a big thank you for doing her best to include Mum in small day to day activities as well as all the Entertainment she arranges. Communication has been good and whenever there have been any queries or questions on our part, the response has been quick and efficient. So thank you to the Foxburrow staff for everything you do!
Our Mother entered this care home in late January 2022. In researching Care homes in the area, I was impressed with both the physical aspects and location of the building and the room accommodations (Mum's room looks out onto a garden and courtyard) as well as the philosophical approach to caring for the elderly. Our Mother has adjusted very well, she participates in many activities and the attention to her physical care is top-notch. The staff are friendly, professional and caring. I live far away, so don't get to visit yet I feel that our mother is well looked after and the staff are super responsive to any needs we may have. A fabulous place for Mum to be.
I cannot give a date, as every call and visit is fantastic. My friend has been well looked after, and they all love her, especially in these difficult times.
The care my father received at Foxburrow Grange was outstanding. Dad was always treated with dignity and care. I was always made to feel welcome when I visited him during the six years he was at Foxburrow Grange. I know he was with people who loved him when his end came. This is a great comfort to our family.
The care my husband has been given is wonderful. When we arrived from hospital, he could do nothing for himself, now he is talking, trying to walk and it is a pleasure to see him so happy. My daughter and I cannot thank the staff enough.
My cousin has been a resident for over two years. She is very happy at Foxburrow Grange and the care she receives is first class. The staff are very caring and responsive. You may find cheaper but you're unlikely to find better.
This is a wonderful place to live. I am lucky to be living here. A big thank you to everyone.
I enjoy living here very much and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Both the wing manager and staff are all very kind and helpful.
My husband went into the home for two weeks of respite care at the beginning of March. However, due to COVID-19 lockdown occurred a week later and he is still there. I was only able to visit him a few times before this happened but I have been in touch with him daily via FaceTime. He assures me he is happy and well looked after (in fact the staff organised a BBQ for his birthday, with numerous gifts and cards). If he is in agreement, I would be happy for him to remain there.
My mother came to Foxburrow Grange nearly five years ago with the expectation that her life might last three to six months. That she is still with us looking as well as she has been in years (both physically and mentally) is a tribute to the quality of care she has received. The transition from her own home in the Midlands to Colchester was traumatic for all concerned but the help we received and the time staff took to support us all has led to the current happy state of affairs. Staff have shown tremendous respect for my mother's drive to analyse and question things that are new or might change - as a retired teacher she feels it is her duty to check things out. As well as being very bright and clean, Foxburrow is a friendly place for residents and visitors alike.
