View Full Details of Barchester Ritson LodgeDad has been at Ritson Lodge for 10 months and in that time he has settled in very well and while in the past there have been one or two issues the home has continually provided wonderful care. In the run-up to Christmas, the home was beautifully decorated by them, along with some lovely seasonal entertainment and activities the home really embraced Christmas. The staff all entered the Christmas spirit and we had Santas, elves and grinches. However, it was Christmas day when Ritson Lodge made a special effort. Relatives were invited to join their loved ones for lunch and the home made a really lovely effort. Relatives were seated with their residents for a festive lunch and all the staff made so much effort to make it a memorable day for all of us. From the food and drink (well done) to the festive atmosphere created by all the staff it could not have been better. Dad spent his first Christmas at Ritson Lodge and for his circumstances it was a fantastic place to be.
My mother was sent to this care home as part of an NHS re-enablement program following a stay in hospital. She is 94 years old and always told me she never wanted to be put in a care home. When ready for discharge, I was greeted with the following comment from her - 'I don't want to go home, I love it here, it's like staying in a 5-star hotel and all the staff are fantastic!' Mum has now been in the care of this fantastic establishment for nearly two months and my wife and I can only endorse her feelings. From the management team down to every single member of staff, they are all an absolute credit to the home. It's clear they really care and have already made a massive difference to my mother's quality of life. As a self-funding resident, it is a massive financial commitment although comparable with most other good care homes. It is however worth every penny in that my wife and I can now rest easy knowing Mum is in the hands of a truly professional team of people who really care.
Mum's health has deteriorated significantly this year but all the staff continue to look after her really well. They are attentive to her changing needs and diet and although bed-bound, they still try to include her in activities as much as is possible, e.g. at Halloween, they gave her pens to colour in pictures which she enjoyed. The staff are friendly and approachable, nothing is too much trouble. Mum is content and settled in Barchester Ritson Lodge and now considers it her home which, in turn, makes me happy.
Barchester Ritson Lodge is a wonderful place, clean, excellent food, fantastic staff. My dad came in a very ill, weak man, unable to eat but left eating, much stronger and happy.
This is a modern, purpose-built care home and therefore, has wide open corridors, welcoming lounges and seating areas, first-class ensuite rooms and great facilities. The care staff are, in general, brilliant, both friendly and approachable with a genuine interest in the residents. The home charges premium fees and promises a first-class living environment and this is where it falls short of the five-star service it claims to provide. A resident's daily life revolves around food and meals and for a home which promises so much, the food is often a great disappointment. The published breakfast menu often falls short of the published options. Often staple items such as eggs, mushrooms and brown bread are unavailable. Main meals can be poorly cooked or overcooked. Meat and fish can be dry and overdone and food in general, is often served cold. When he entered the home, he was told he could have meals with his family but he has said that he would be embarrassed to entertain family.
The staff responded quickly and efficiently when my 97-year-old mum recently had a fall. They have adapted their care to meet her increasing needs. They are kind and respectful and keep us fully informed at all times.
Cannot fault Barchester Ritson Lodge. The care, and the staff are exceptional. Activities are excellent, nice to see the residents joining in.
I speak as I find. If I think, see or know anything I report it to staff, the problem is sorted swiftly, politely and often with humour. My husband is happy and that is my priority. I notice a shortage of spare hand towels and face cloths, often only one toilet roll - no spare on shelf. Why? All staff appear to be happy working at Barchester Ritson Lodge, which is important. All the staff treat my husband with respect and lots of patience.
My Mum was transferred from the local hospital for rehabilitation as was not well enough to return home. Her stay was short - just 2 weeks, but I cannot praise the staff enough for the way they looked after her. With the encouragement of the carers, she made excellent progress both physically and with her social skills. The standard of care was exemplary. Thank you!
My brother has been with you at Ritson for four months, originally for three weeks of respite care. He has thrived due to the tremendous care he has received from all the Ritson staff. I would describe Ritson as amazing in every respect. Thank you.
I can't describe just how happy my mother has been since she arrived at Barchester Ritson Lodge. The staff are wonderful and always available to talk to if you need to have a talk to them. The whole Ritson team have become our friends and goes above and beyond their daily duties to help where they can. The activities and entertainment for the residents is just wonderful, so much to keep them occupied too. I am there most days as I love it there too.
My nanny has been a resident of Barchester Ritson Lodge for around a year. It is such a lovely place. Fresh and clean. Plus always lots of activities for the residents to get involved in. It is very modern inside with lovely bedrooms. Visitors are always made welcome with drinks and cakes available. Lots of entertainment also. I enjoy visiting and also loved the Christmas decorations and window art.
Mom came out of hospital and needed care before she could go home, Barchester Ritson Lodge was fantastic with her needs and with dealing with us.
Helped me regain my confidence to walk after being in the hospital having 6 weeks of radiotherapy and a fractured spine with their encouragement and perseverance.
My Mum stayed for respite post serious illness in hospital to enable us to take a break and the care my Mum received was exemplary. Mum's health has progressed beyond my expectations, gaining good levels of weight, regaining appetite and she has her smile back once again. We sincerely thank the dedicated staff at Ritson Lodge for their gold-standard level of care and the kindness they show everything.
All the staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Totally excellent.
Fantastic care home, with superb staff and managers. The food is awesome, superb chefs. Very clean to the highest standard. All in all a brilliant place to stay.
My aunt has been a resident at Ritson Lodge since last August and at every visit, I have found the home to be spotlessly clean and welcoming. The staff seem to go above and beyond for my aunt and show her genuine care. Family and friends are always welcome and yesterday we enjoyed joining everyone for their 10th birthday celebrations. Well done to two members of staff in particular, it was lovely to see everyone happy and joining in with a sing-a-long and a little dance!
My mother was moved to Ritson Lodge for respite and recovery before returning to her home from the hospital. The home is second to none. Light, airy and modern with large well-furnished bedrooms and ensuites, it's very welcoming. The staff are all lovely, helpful and very respectable towards all the residents. Very good activities which all are encouraged to take part in. Very clean and hygienic and has great facilities.
My mum has been a resident here for six weeks. When Mum arrived at this superb home, things had been really tough, Mum and the family had been really struggling. From the very first day, Mum experienced levels of care and support that she had never received before. The care, support, humour, companionship and overall holistic well-being support have turned my mum's life around. In terms of the wider family, every single carer has been generous and heartfelt, genuinely caring for the support network around my mum, appreciating the journey we have been on and the guarantee of being there for all of whatever the future holds. The carers, chefs and managers are exceptional, going above and beyond every day to ensure that my mum receives the love and support she deserves. I have witnessed the care and attention given to other residents during my visits and it is consistent and of an exceptional standard.
