View Full Details of Hambleton GrangeMy mother is very happy here. She has struggled with ill health. Many staff members have shown kindness and empathy as she has become less mobile. The most effective staff know when she is going down hill and call in medical support. On returning from hospital it was much appreciated that staff were welcoming and kind. These staff should model their effective behaviour to others so that this approach runs throughout the team. Some care plan messages don't always get communicated to all staff all the time. The majority of care has helped mum.
My father in law was a resident at Hambleton Grange and I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. He settled well and was looked after very well. Atmosphere in the home was always happy and friendly.
Very good home, My mother is well looked after and is happy and content. I have peace of mind knowing she is safe. Staff are all wonderful and can't do enough for my mum. It is a lovely homely feel at Hambleton Grange.
I think the carers gave my granddad the best care possible and did all that they could to make his time there as comfortable as possible.
Dad resided at Hambleton for just over 5 months until he recently died. I was really impressed with the level of care he received from all the staff I met. Everybody was so helpful and showed him kindness. Recently he became very poorly and I was impressed with the quality of care and understanding of the situation. We were kept well informed of his condition. You have a brilliant team in Thirsk, from management to carers, including activity and events coordinator. Thank you.
My Mum recently stayed for respite at Hambleton Grange and I cannot praise the staff and care home enough. From start to finish it was a very positive experience for both Mum and myself. The home had a very "warm homely" feeling and the staff were extremely caring, helpful and very kind. The activities were amazing including Mums favourite - a trip out in the minibus! We would not hesitate to use Hambleton Grange again.
This was my first visit to Hambleton Grange as my friends have only recently moved there. I was impressed by the warm welcome we received and by the friendly atmosphere of the home. My friends said they were comfortable and receiving excellent care which is exactly what one would hope for and expect a very positive first impression.
Firstly, everyone is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food and activities are very good. My brother feels very safe and comforted. Everyone knows my brother's name, and the surroundings are lovely and comfortable with excellent facilities such as a games room: and a special dementia floor.
91 year old mum spent two weeks respite due to an acute illness. She was very happy there and the staff were lovely to her, allowing us as a family to relax following a traumatic, trying time. Lovely place, friendly and happy atmosphere. Just an observation, mum was reluctant to go for a bath and only had one during her stay. I think it should be routine to ask the clients if they wanted a bath and not leave it for them to ask. The bathroom door was awkward to open into bedroom, bad design for the frail and elderly.
My brother, age 66 years old, recently was admitted to Hambleton Grange. When we arrived the manager was so accommodating, friendly and talked to us for a long time, making us feel most comfortable and has continued to reassure my brother in every way. Top lady. And all the staff have been most caring and helpful so far.
So many activities which they encourage those that can to get involved with both on and off site. Mum almost always in their photos in their newsletter clearly enjoying herself. Would highly recommend this home.
Not ideal. We found dementia care and the understanding of dementia poor and this view was repeated by others who knew Hambleton Grange better than us. Our 91-year-old mother was left stranded in hospital for 10 days when fit to be discharged. Distressing for her, completely the wrong place for a person with dementia and a needless waste of public resources and total disregard for NHS - its staff were unimpressed. Hambleton Grange/Ideal Home management shows no sign of concern - no calls to the hospital or us. When an Ideal Home manager finally called, she apologised for apologising so much, promising an independent third-party investigation. Now, we've been told it will be an internal investigation. Also, we found the approach to records very dubious. Once they failed to send our data despite multiple requests - we guessed it was being altered. The second time the data changed between the time when we asked the duty manager to read it to us over the phone, and the time we received a copy.
Mum has been in respite at HAMBLETON Grange for the second time. I cannot fault the home and in particular the staff and manager. They made us feel so welcome and made Mum and all of us feel at home as soon as we walked in. I can't begin to tell you what a difference that makes to us as a family contemplating moving Mum to a care home on a more permanent basis
My mum moved into Hambleton Grange in July 2023 on a permanent basis. She has received the best care and attention. The staff have been caring, professional, kind and understanding towards her. When visiting, we have found staff friendly and welcoming.
It's a lovely home.
Very nice and welcoming.
Poor car parking for visitors.
Very nice, polite and warm welcoming reception.
I chose to live in the care home. Getting older and less well, it is very helpful to have staff available who are pleasant and supportive. Also, my apartment is pleasant, as is the sitting room. I imagine that it is good for events. My daughter is pleased that I am cared for and that I am happy.
Initial visit to Hambleton Grange, with the excellent receptionist, we were impressed. My husband went in at the end of June for 2 weeks of respite with a view to a long-term stay. His advanced stage of Vascular Parkinson's makes it very difficult for me to manage at home. Within a short time, he developed sores on his buttocks and no one mentioned this until I helped change him. He saw the district nurse but the condition worsened. There were insufficient staff to help him use a urine bottle when needed. Urine bag often not rinsed out and urine on the bathroom floor. The food seemed quite good. Some care staff were excellent and some very poor and no liaising between management and me. He is now home again.
