View Full Details of Abbeyfield WinnershMy husband has been residing at Abbeyfield for 2 and a half years. He settled quickly and has been cared for so well by staff who make every effort to understand him and help him cope with all the challenges that he faces. They always contact me quickly if there are any issues and it always feels like a welcoming and cheerful home.
I am so glad that Mum chose Abbeyfield. It is a safe and welcoming environment. The staff have been very accommodating in facilitating video calls so that I can talk with Mum regularly, as I live in the US.
Organising the room, marking of clothes and doing an inventory were all done the day before moving in. Pictures and shelf are all sorted. Mum arrived Friday afternoon December 2024. From this very day, she has been happy, free to walk about. Eating well, letting carers do personal care, showering and hair wash. Any of this was nearly impossible to get her to do. She is enjoying the freedom the social and the quiet rooms.
Abbeyfield was amazing. Our family needed help; Abbeyfield provided it. Professional, medical care for Dad, respite for Mum. Advice with navigating the various authority procedures was extremely helpful. Always available to talk to, forever warm, friendly and empathetic. We are extremely grateful for all they did; thank you.
My mother seems to have settled really well at Winnersh. The only issues I have been contacted about are her eating and one occasion when she was found lying on the floor in her room, thankfully she wasn't injured.
It is hard to face the reality that ageing bodies do not allow one the energy, strength or mobility to continue to care for one's loved one. To find a place of welcome and a group of people that enables me to say, 'these are the people who help me look after you', has been a gateway to our own continuing journey together. My husband is seen as an individual and his needs are met with great respect and dignity. In addition, the staff's care and concern for me have been beyond my expectations. Our sincere thanks to all the staff from management to cleaners. Their dedication, care and concern are always poised to go the extra mile.
The people are lovely and I feel that my mother is very safe there. It is a tough job looking after someone who is challenging and variable however I have only ever seen patience, care and warmth from every member of staff in their dealings with her. My mother says how kind they are in looking after her. They are always ready to chat with me and ensure that I am happy with everything.
The first thing I looked for finding a care home for my partner with Alzheimer's was outdoor space as he is young and energetic. This home has a wonderful huge space outdoors and a door in his room straight into it. I also voiced my worry about him going into rooms or offices, laundry, etc. as he does not take kindly to being told off. They said he can go anywhere as the people living there 'live here' and we only work here. What a wonderful ethic. That is how it is and the most important thing is he's happy living there and says so if I ask him. The best home in our opinion.
My mother was moved from what was supposed to be a nursing home in poor health and unable to do anything for herself. She is now a completely different person and considerately happier. We are all very impressed with all aspects of care from all the members of staff and the home is very welcoming. Moving Mum was a great move.
Abbeyfields felt like an extended family, always welcoming on arrival, always having the time to have a conversation and nothing was too much trouble. All staff had a wonderful attitude to their work and are a credit to their profession. My mother-in-law was treated with respect and dignity, even if her dementia could be challenging at times. Lots of entertainment and activities, staff encouraged everybody to be included, would highly recommend Abbyfields to everyone.
My mother-in-law is very happy at Abbeyfield. The staff are very attentive and look after her in a very considerate and gentle manner. They are happy to answer any questions we may have and take time to explain things.
My husband was given every care, despite his illness, by dedicated, cheerful staff. I was also cared for at a very difficult time. There was always a cup of tea for me!
I transferred my mother from another care home to Abbeyfield Winnersh Care Home so she could be nearer to me. I wish we had moved her sooner, it is the best thing we have done for her. The customer relations manager couldn't have done more to help us, she made the transfer so easy and calm for everyone. Before she only drank from a beaker with a lid but now drinks from a cup, at the old home we were told she was non-weight-bearing but she has now stood up with aids to help her. Can't praise all staff enough.
My husband, who has early onset Alzheimer's Disease, went in for two weeks emergency respite care at Abbeyfield Winnersh. From the start the staff were absolutely fabulous. Always helpful and ready to listen. They kept me fully up to date with how my husband was doing every day. Even afterwards they have said that if I had any questions or needed any help to call them at any time.
Abbeyfield Winnersh is everything we wanted from a care home for our mother and stood out above others we had looked at in the area. The care home is extremely well managed and the staff are all lovely and friendly, genuinely caring about the residents they look after. The standard of care and levels of engagement with the residents is very high, with plenty of opportunities to interact and participate in activities throughout the day. I feel very reassured that my mother is happy and being really well looked after. The meals are of good quality, well-balanced and plentiful. The resident’s personal rooms are comfortable and our mother loves having an access door leading to the gardens, which being within secure grounds allows her freedom and independence to move around without any restriction, whilst safely being monitored at all times. A grateful thank you to all the staff at Abbeyfield for all your help, kindness and continuing care.
My mother became a resident on January 23 until her death at the end of April 23. I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of care provided for my mother, both in terms of the overall care and the high degree of empathy, compassion, and human kindness provided by all the staff I came across in those three months; this includes senior management, carers at all levels, cleaners and maintenance. My mother did not want to go to a residential home, but over three months, developed a close bond with many staff. The physical environment, cleanliness and general atmosphere is/were also very welcoming. I could mention many staff by name, but this would be unfair on those whose names I did not get to find out. Profuse thanks/gratitude to all.
The staff at this care home go above and beyond every day for every resident. They are easy to talk to and are always happy to keep you informed. My father-in-law has been at the home for six and a half years and is very well looked after. Cannot recommend this care home enough. Thank you all for everything you do.
Choosing a care home for my grandad was one of the hardest decisions that we had to make as a family, from the initial phone call we made to Abbeyfield to when my grandad moved in. There was so much care and support that we felt that this was his forever home. Abbeyfield provided such good care for my grandad during his last days. The staff are so compassionate about what they were doing. They also looked after me and other members of my family. Nothing was too much trouble, and they were willing to go the extra mile to make sure that we had everything we needed to spend the remainder of the quality time we had with my grandad. Thank you so much to the staff at Abbeyfield.
The staff are always attentive and helpful. You are treated as being part ‘of the family’.
Ever since my mother was admitted into Abbeyfield Winnersh on January the 2nd 2023, the staff have been fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble. It is like one big happy family. The care home has a fantastic layout to suit people with dementia. The facilities are great and there is always something going on. The meals look good and I have often sampled some cake on offer whilst visiting Mum. The rooms are spacious and laid out well. You have your own front door just like a normal home and a back door leading out to the lawn and shrubs.
