View Full Details of Amber WoodMy partner arrived at Amber Wood one month ago, and right from the start, all of the staff were friendly and approachable. I visit him daily and have seen how good the staff are with not only with him but with all of the residents. I think we all worry about how well the staff treat our loved ones, and having seen for myself daily for a month now, not once have I had any concerns. In my opinion, it is clean, professional and very well run whilst still maintaining a relaxed atmosphere.
As a qualified nurse, I always worried about my mum going into care but from the day my mum went to Amber Wood Care Home to the day he passed away, we, as a family, had nothing to worry about. The staff on Bertley and the management team treat Mum as an individual with care and love throughout her stay. I can't thank them enough, their care and dedication were exceptional. I would recommend Amber Wood to any family who are in the same position as we were.
Mum loves being here. She has made lots of friends and the staff are great with her. All possible precautions are taken with regard to covid outbreaks. Mum enjoys the activities they have and the food is nice.
Much more enjoyable now that relatives can come into Amber Wood and visit residents in their day-to-day accommodation. The Covid situation, although understandable, has been hard for relatives. My husband's birthday was a happy occasion. Not sure how much he remembers now about a Birthday, but it was lovely for him, and thank you to the staff for making it a special day.
When I could see my Uncle after a long time and actually visit the home and meet the staff, I was very pleased and satisfied that my uncle was receiving a really good level of care. The staff were accommodating and went out of their way to make the visit a great experience. My Uncle was relaxed and happy that the visit could go ahead as it was a little later than planned. We had our visit in the lovely garden to the back of the home (Covid restrictions) which I found much nicer than a room. The staff provided a good quality of care to all the residents that I had sight of and good communication skills witnessed on my visit. The home was very clean with a nice aroma. Good personal facilities for visitors and most of all a good welcome. Good atmosphere, bright, good facilities to enable the residents to look back and remember (reminiscing).
My mum arrived at Amber Wood following hospitalization because she had fallen and broken her hip. Prior to this, she had been living semi-independently (with the help of family and carers) in her own home. Unfortunately, it was one fall too many and following the hip repair the very difficult decision was made to have her assessed for residential care; hence her arrival at Amber Wood. On arrival, my worries were dissolved. We were greeted by two exceptionally nice carers who very compassionately settled Mum in. Within an hour of arrival, she was sitting in the dining area eating lunch with other residents. Mum's room is lovely and spacious and she is already forming friendships with both staff and fellow guests. The care and warmth of the staff is second to none. There is an open visiting policy and nothing is too much trouble. The carers quickly relate well not only to the residents but also importantly to the relatives. Thank you so much to all at Amber Wood.
I would highly recommend this care home, the staff go above and beyond to make their residents feel warm, safe and well looked after. This was to the extent that neither of my parents wanted to return home after the respite. It was my Mother's Birthday during their stay here, she was made to feel very special, Birthday posters were displayed around the home and all staff had bought her a cake and flowers. Rooms are large and airy with beautiful views and en-suits. The gardens were large and accessible, with fruit and vegetables that residents could pick and eat.
