View Full Details of Askham GroveMy stay with them has been very good. Made to feel comfortable and welcomed.
I'm blown away by the level of care I am receiving from Askham. All of the staff show a fantastic level of care. The progress I have made has surpassed my expectations. Highly recommend.
My father has been at Askham Grove since the beginning of November as part of his stroke rehabilitation. He settled in very well at Askham Grove and has been happy there. The staff are friendly and kind and the whole atmosphere is peaceful and conducive to recovery.
Very supportive of Mum, physically and emotionally. Also very kind to family and friends.
This is my daughter's second spell in Askham Grove. I can honestly say I would not want her anywhere else. Everything they have done for my daughter has been first-class and her progress has been encouraging. She has come on so well. The staff are 100% it's like a home from home for us. We as a family can go home knowing she is well cared for and looked after.
This care home is in a nice setting for people who need good care. Everything you need they have it, even a cafe.
We found them to be very professional and caring all the teams were excellent They dealt with personal care issues by gentle encouragement.
The care I received was excellent.
The physios and occupational therapists carefully pushed me to my limits, which led to good results. The rehab support workers looked after me very well, as did the nurses, and all the staff were very attentive to my safety and well-being. Thank you to all concerned.
Our relative came to Askham Grove with a serious brain injury following a fall. She was immobile and unable to speak or feed herself. The whole team at Askham have been amazing and after six months, she is now talking freely, able to eat and beginning to walk. We cannot speak too highly of the care she has received, especially from the speech therapists and physios and the care team led by their most excellent team leader.
Went to Askham, firstly for respite and now in long-term placement. Support throughout has been good. Any problems have been discussed and solutions sorted out. Resident spends most of their time in the room. Finds communication difficult on some occasions but is checked on regularly. Am confident about safety. Surroundings inside and out are well-maintained.
From being transferred to Askham Grove from hospital, I could not have guessed what a wonderful place it would be. All staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful and even now as an outpatient for my physiotherapy, the staff I had when I was a resident still come to greet me and say hello and have a chat. They're very professional and good at their jobs. Thank you all staff at Askham.
Excellent staff and carers, food good.
My dad came here and he was in such a bad way when he left. He deteriorated so much in here. The urine bottle had faeces on it when he arrived, & there wasn't any decent equipment or even a suitable chair. The manager was very unprofessional. Do not send people here that you care about. There were no staff on the ward for 1 hour while they all had handover on another ward. My dad was calling for a commode all that time. He lost over 5kgs in 2 weeks and he left after 2 weeks with untreated & undiagnosed chest infection, dehydration and weakness. He said the place was ghastley.
My time in Askham rehab was a very productive time. My progress was made better by the occupational therapist staff and support staff. The staff who came and helped me every day were brilliant right down to the kitchen staff. Everyone has such a good aura about them. They make the whole experience very positive and even though at times it was difficult for me I still enjoyed being around them because of the whole team's positivity. I don't think I would have achieved as much without their support and the laughs we had. Thank you.
I’m amazed at the rehab facilities here at Askham Grove, they’re not playing catchup with the latest trends in care. They’re leading the way. Occupational Therapy, for example, have a robotics suite that turns therapy into fun. I’ve been into rehab myself for a similar brain injury to my wife. I never had anything like the facilities I’ve seen here. I’m in no doubt that my own recovery would have been much more efficient had I been here myself. I’m impressed at the location. It feels like a hotel rather than anything medical. The gardens are lovely, the tree-lined avenue is idyllic and peaceful. It's supported by the amazing work that the team have done in helping to restore her memory, mobility, and speech. We’re leaving Askham Grove with a slight tear in our eyes as we know that we are leaving friends behind. People who cared, who believe in what they do, that care about the residents. I’m hoping to stay involved somehow. We won’t, we don’t want to forget the difference you’ve made to our lives.
