View Full Details of Avocet House Care HomeFriendly and excellent care. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the team, always lovely and warm and spotless cleanliness every where. When my mother came to avocet house for rest bite her mobility was very poor and she was unable to walk and use the bathroom, within a short time she was able to walk with a frame and use the bathroom with help then with wonderful care she was able to progress to a walker and was able to get about by herself and use the bathroom by herself, after such wonderful care she was able to return to her bungalow, she was very happy while she was in avocet house and although she is pleased to be home she does miss the wonderful team and residents. Our family are very grateful to all the team at Avocet House.
My grandmother is in Advocet and has been since last year. The care staff are amazing, so attentive and caring, fantastic care, rare to see these days. Every time I visit the home is immaculate. Fresh cakes available for everyone, just makes it an even better experience to visit. Beautiful different rooms we can spend time together, staff always so accommodating with drinks, food, meals, I'm never afraid to ask for anything. It's a home away from home, she's been allowed her personal items in her room, which makes it so much more personal. The home puts on events we can all go to and residents get involved. The staff make sure even residents that want to stay in their rooms are also involved. I just really want to thank everyone involved in her care. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you.
We have found all the staff to be caring, kind and helpful. The room we were a guest in for two weeks was luxurious and comfortable. The food has been good and there's been a varied selection. My husband's needs were all met and we will be booking again for respite care. Thank you.
My husband went in for respite a weekend while I took a weekend away to see a show. Looked beautifully clean and he was treated very well and made very welcome. Unfortunately when he came home he fell trying to turn off a fan. Hurt his hip called 999 who came very quickly but he died. He so much wanted me to go and you looked after him lovely. Thank you so much.
Found this care home by accident. Once entering no other care home we had seen came close to this one. Everything about it was excellent we even compared it to a particular hotel. The staff were great the house manager the care manager the seniors nothing was too much trouble.
I have noticed a 100% improvement in my father's health and emotional well-being since he was admitted to Avocet House. I am quite stunned by the beautiful environment, which is designed and decorated to a very high standard. The standard of care at Avocet House is excellent. I have worked in care homes for most of my life and this home is the best I have ever encountered.
My Mother came for 2 weeks of respite care. The staff were very supportive and kind and all the care needs were met. The only negative comment was the food quality was "adequate" and the mashed potato was poor! Apart from that it was a very positive experience and the staff were great. Thank you.
I had a warm welcome on arrival and that continued throughout my stay. The staff were excellent, without exception, and nothing was ever too much trouble for them, no matter how minor your request. The rooms were extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean.
I have had a friend in this care home for two years. The home is friendly, warm and welcoming. The staff are wonderful, laundry, cooks, cleaners, care and administration all work together to make it feel like one big family. My spotlessly clean, as everyone else, her meals are always tailored to her needs, but most of all she is loved and cared for and she is very happy. It is so difficult letting your loved ones be cared for by someone else but I have no concerns with any friend being here. She is very happy and her smile tells me her own story.
A positive and welcoming environment that enables a home-from-home feel as residents can have lots of personal items around them. Staff give time, reassurance, and encouragement to enable my mum to become as independent as she can while ensuring she is safe and her well-being is met. My mum says. "I feel safe and happy now I am at Avocet".
I attended the summer fete. Staff were attentive, as always, and residents were clearly their priority. The staff worked as a great team together to ensure everyone had a good time, even the managers were dancing with the residents and ensuring everyone had what they needed. The food was excellent, entertainment was very good. Whenever I visit Avocet House Care Home, I am made to feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble, it is homely and the atmosphere is friendly.
My brother and I find all the staff at the home very friendly, kind and approachable. They treat our mother with respect and dignity and we are sure she is content and very comfortable living at Avocet.
I am impressed by the dedication of the carers working in difficult circumstances with my wife who has Alzheimer’s and can exhibit challenging behaviours. Some staff are especially gifted. Staff are always polite and responsive but, I would say, stretched too far by the demands of the residents in their care. The rooms are luxurious. The carpeting ideal for reducing possible injuries from falls. There is space for those who, like my wife, need to walk the length of the building and there are interesting views. All the luxury though is compromised if staff are unable to give the standard of care they would wish because there are not enough feet on the ground.
Nice place for Mum to be. Pleased with care. Would consider being here myself.
It is always a pleasure to visit my father in Avocet House, Boston. The staff are wonderful and I never feel concerned about leaving my father. I feel assured he is in a caring and safe environment. Thank you.
My grandfather has been living at Avocet House since February. The home has a real friendly atmosphere and this definitely shows when you walk into the home. The staff are great at their jobs and made my grandfather welcome and settled when he moved in. There is an open-door policy with regards to speaking to the management team and you are always made to feel welcome. The food looks very appetising and gets my grandfather's approval and the homemade cakes are delicious. My grandfather is very happy and as a family, we know we made the right decision in choosing Avocet House.
Mum has been in the home since April 2021 and was moved from there after poor care at a different home. Mum's health was not good, yet the care given by staff at the home has transformed her. We truly were not sure we would ever get her mental health back and yet the dedication of staff has been instrumental in her improvement. She is safe, cared for and content and I feel this is as much as we can ask for given her health conditions. I truly believe if she had remained where she was then she would not be here today, if physically, certainly not mentally. When calling, staff do know who she is and can tell you how she is or they are willing to go and find out. She is happy with all staff and they really do make her feel important and she is cared for physically well. My only issue would be the staff numbers seem to have dwindled since first opening, however I don't feel it is a major issue with the level of care although bell wait times seem to have increased as well as waiting at the door.
My wife and I stayed after my operation as my wife has Alzheimer's and I care for her. We stayed almost two weeks. The home is immaculately furnished and the interior decorated and furnished. The rooms are large with TV etc. with plenty of robes and drawers and cupboard plus the fridge, ideal in July. Lovely shower room. Dining on your own floor plus room service. Lovely gardens to walk around. Adequate meals for older people and those not well. The courteous and friendly staff at all times. Night call system. Nothing is too much trouble. Staff work hard and appear short-staffed at times. All in all, excellent and would come here again.
Mum has lived here since May 2021 and is happy and content at the home. The main thing is that she feels safe and looked after as she is registered blind and her sight has deteriorated since residing here. The staff are excellent with Mum's needs and the overall care in the home is excellent. Great staff, atmosphere and social events.
My husband was a resident of Avocet House for over two years. The staff must have a revolving door entrance, there was a continuous stream of staff leaving employment there, and new staff starting. Three managers in two years. Record-keeping was poor. One staff member allegedly 'soaked his dentures'. No. He has his own teeth! Upon reaching the threshold to apply for county funding, and despite a promise made in August 2022 that we would not have to pay top-ups as he had been there for so long paying full fees, I was expected to pay a weekly top-up of £523, which I could not pay. I found an alternative care home for him. The day we moved him Avocet House refused to give us any paperwork (eg MAR chart, Respect form) quoting GDPR. In the bag of medications handed over, there were numerous items dispensed in 2021, which he was no longer taking. The staff at the new care home spent ages on the phone with the GP surgery sorting out what he should (and shouldn't) be taking, and when.
