View Full Details of Brook Meadows House Care HomeOverall I think all of the staff seem to work really hard. However of late it has seemed to me that there does not seem to have been as many staff on duty as there use to be. The staff are polite and caring towards my mother, but being busy all of the time detracts from them having the time to sit down and have an impromptu chat. The room is cleaned regularly and is always nice and warm. The garden is a nice place to sit on sunny days. Food is often not to my mothers taste but she does get offered alternatives which helps, but can become a bit repetitive. There are a lot of organised activities that residents can join in with. Also one to one time with the activity coordinators for those residents less inclined to join in. Residents choices seem to be respected. Overall my observation and experience of the home and the staff since my mother has been resident is a positive. Any concerns are addressed promptly.
My dad has been looked after well here at Brook Meadows House Care Home. The rooms are new and smart and cosy. The staff are caring and attentive. The activities are great and well led with outings, singing, seasonal activities and themed meal lunches. The housekeeping keeps the rooms clean and beds made frequently. There is a lovely garden area residents can sit out in. A doctor comes in weekly for any medical problems. Dad perked up after being ill and coming to the home and being cared for here. There is a good team of people who also work with the family in drawing up care plans and regular family meetings. I would recommend this home to take care of loved ones.
I have found the care home very interesting. It is a place where dignity and respect to the aged and other residents is required. Sadly, I may not have been truly aware of this. I apologise and will be more careful in future. The home seems impeccable though it is a new build. The service user said the staff are very helpful without being intrusive. Some of the other residents are friendly, interesting people, happy to talk about themselves. It is rewarding to visit these care homes.
I visited on 6th September 2023 to see a family friend of whom I am Power of Attorney for. The purpose of the visit was to talk through the draft documents that had been sent from her Solicitor regarding a Will change and an update to the Power of Attorney, prior to the Solicitors visit in a week's time. One of the Team Leaders came into the room to deliver some food and noticed the documents, she left but I assume that she then overheard some of the conversation as the door was open. A short while later she came back and checked that everything was okay with the resident and very politely and professionally challenged me regarding the content of the conversation I was having to ensure that the resident was not being coerced into signing anything. I have a background in Adult Safeguarding and this was an excellent response by professional staff who are often very busy with challenging residents. All credit to her for taking the extra step. Thank you.
