I have lived at Castle Brook for four years. Since my first day here, I have been very happy. I have never experienced anything but love and kindness from all staff and management. I hope the spend my days here until the end of my life.
My stay at Castle Brook was for 'respite' which was a very pleasant one. The respite stay was from 11th July to 20th July 2024. The stay was that of a 'hotel' lovely bedroom with en-suite, and the staff, food and quality of care were first class. The staff looked after me very well which made the whole respite experience a happy and pleasant one. If in the future I require respite care Castle Brook will be my first choice of care home to stay. My thanks to all involved.
Staff at Castlebrook have managed my mum's behaviour with diligence and patience doing everything they can to ensure that her dignity and safety are maintained and respected. The communication has been excellent.
My dad came to Castle Brook when he could no longer live at home safely, it has taken a while for him to adjust. But he has finally settled and is happy. Being in contact with the staff and the floor manager has put my mind at ease when I have my worries, that has been a great comfort. I know my father is well looked after and he knows that he is safe which is a big thing for him. I applaud the staff that work so hard. And all the Castle Brook team.
First impressions when my mother was taken into care at Castle Brook was good and since has moved to be impressive. I can only applaud all the staff we come into contact with, they seem diligent, caring and have the well-being of Mother at the forefront. The home's environment is fresh, welcoming and open, a credit to all that provide the support. Her care manager is an impressive individual who shows dedication and empathy to help those in her charge.
Every time I come up and visit Castle Brook I am so impressed by how lovely and kind the staff are. The residents look so at home and relaxed and a beautiful environment for them to live in. My dad comes daily to visit his wife and stays all day and has been made so welcome by all the staff, it is a blessing he can spend this quality time with her here. Many thanks.
An excellent place. Very beautiful people and care, so grateful this precious lady is taken good care of at this stage of her eventful life. Thank you so much.
The staff at Castle Brook have supported my mother since the summer. My mother was transferred to the care home from hospital, due to having a fall which significantly impacted her mobility. The staff at Castle Brook showed my mother and our family great compassion at a time that was very worrying for us. They attended to my mother’s needs and listened to us as a family, by taking into consideration the goals that we hoped to achieve during my mother’s stay. With their support, my mother is back on her feet. We were grateful that the staff encouraged her to spend time with others and socialise, which she had missed out on since being in hospital. Most importantly, the staff considered my mother’s cultural needs and adapted care where possible to meet those. There are great facilities at Castle Brook, and we particularly valued how flexibly we could visit and spend time with my mother. As a family, we cannot thank the management and the staff anymore for all their help and support.
So happy that we found the right place for my wife who has dementia. It seemed unlikely that we would and that she would settle but she has and appears calmer and happier than for some time. The assessment procedure was carried out with great skill and the move-in went very smoothly with great support from staff. The design of the building is excellent... lots of light, space and quiet corners and she enjoys the activities especially the singing sessions. One of the key strengths is the staff who seem happy to be there and act as a supportive team across the board. They have a very caring and attentive ethos and are responsive to requests and questions. They are also well managed and all this gives me confidence in what has been for both of us a major change. Any problems are picked up and effectively dealt with and notes on the portal help give an understanding of the daily care. The staff and the village approach give a positive and cheerful feel which lifts spirits all round.
My father has settled really well at Castle Brook. The facilities are excellent, and all the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The staff in Crenel House have been very understanding and supportive of my father and the family, helping us all adjust to his changing needs.
My father-in-law and mother-in-law moved into Castle Brook care home a few months ago and live together in a self-contained flat on the ground floor. We cannot thank the staff enough for helping them to settle in. They are well cared for and nothing is too much trouble. The staff are all very good with my in-laws and with the other residents. The food always looks lovely and they sometimes go along to the dining room with the other residents and there is often a sing song. The Christmas party was great yesterday. My in-laws loved it, as did the others. The singer was very good and had everyone tapping their feet and singing along. There is a shop, cinema, hairdressers and a cafe for the residents. The home is clean and very well run. Castle Brook is a real home from home. We have peace of mind that my in-laws couldn’t be anywhere better. Thank you to all the staff.
Mum is being very well cared for by the team on Crenell. She settled in quickly and has built some great relationships. All her care and health needs are met in a warm and friendly environment. There is plenty of activities for her to do and engage in conversations. She loves her church service, choir and café and friends and family are always able to drop in. As a family, we are so grateful for the emotional support the team have given Mum through some difficult times.
The team who provide one to one care for my dad are simply the best and I cannot thank them enough. They’ve got to know and understand him - he is not always the easiest personality, but I can see he’s happy and settled - it is such a comfort. The home itself is very well designed. We have had one disagreement, now totally resolved, with management. But I was impressed when positive adjustments and accountability were clearly forthcoming. A very positive, professional attitude to care became evident - thank you to you all.
We have had the most amazing experience with Castle Brook. My grandmother has never been so happy, well-fed, entertained, looked after and loved. There is nothing the home cannot do to ensure mine and my nan's happiness. We are over the moon with the placement.
My dad is being cared for with kindness, compassion and understanding. It is such a relief to know that he is within a community of people who have taken the time to get to know him so well and treat him with respect at a difficult time in his life. We are all so grateful for the support and care of the amazing staff at Castle Brook Care Home.
My male relative resident has been at Castle Brook Care Home for five years and has been cared for in all respects throughout. The installed Covid regime was first-class with all staff well-trained in necessary procedures and disciplines. Now that 'normal' times are back and summer is here, there is a rejuvenated well-being and happiness throughout the home. Social activities are again, well attended and supervised. Personal care, hygiene and meal times are also very well-managed.
My mother has been in Castle Brook Care Home for four years. During this period, the care she has received has been exemplary in all respects. The staff clearly work with her best interests and welfare at heart. Food seems to be of a very high quality and certainly sufficient quantity. Management has proved very efficient and communicates well with me.
My mum moved to Castle Brook Care Home over a year ago and all the team made my mum feel welcome and at ease. They run lots of events, such as a weekly church service, singing and visits to places. Mum has dementia and they have 1/3 of the home specifically for dementia. My mum has made some friends and enjoys interacting with the staff and the other residents. The head of care is very attentive to the residents' needs and will go the extra mile to help anyone but there are so many other staff who are so friendly and interested in the residents. There is a happy environment and, where needed, staff are on hand to help anyone. I am so grateful to everyone at Castle Brook for all the care and attention they give to the residents and particularly to my mum. Having searched other care homes prior to Mum moving, I was so relieved to find such a lovely place and so unlike anywhere else that I visited. Mum has fitted in so well - thank you.
Although the facilities are good, I rarely see them being used. Agency staff are used, despite what we were told beforehand (I have no issue with agency staff except they obviously don't know the residents. In a dementia care home, I think knowing and understanding each individual's needs is of the utmost importance). I do feel that the staff would benefit from regular refresher courses. Generally, good communication when there's been an accident/fall. Gateway is useful although often mistakes are made (i.e. my mum hasn't got a hearing aid, and neither does she shave!). The grounds are lovely although we rarely see a resident outside. Arriving this morning to find Mum in her pyjama top with someone else's skirt and shoes, no underwear, hair brushed or glasses was heartbreaking. I do feel she's safe, well fed and contented which I guess is the most important thing. I appreciate you won't want to print these comments which is why I don't fill in these questionnaires, but you did ask!
Tired of not being able to log on to online portal, it’s supposed to help relatives see how their loved ones are doing, otherwise, the care home is not so bad. Carers are friendly people, floor manager is good and never see the owner.
