View Full Details of Cheriton Care HomeVery caring staff - so welcoming. Look after my father-in-law very well & have a good rapport with him, which as a family is so good to see. Has been a difficult transition from Hospital, then to an interim Care Home & then the final move here. This has been made so much easier by all the Staff since Day 1. Good Activities & he has been out or offered trips out.
My Mum has lived at the Cheriton since August 2023. The Cheriton is a homely and friendly community. Mum loves company and lots of activities. The Cheriton provides this in abundance. The staff are friendly and experienced and Mum is very settled there. I know she is in safe and caring hands.
A care home was the last place I expected my dad to be in, but my what a great place it was. He was there from October 21 until October 23, when he sadly passed away. The two years he was there I cannot fault. He was cared for just as he was part of a family, right from day one. It is definitely a place I would recommend to anyone as you are also made to feel a part of the care home family and nothing was too much trouble day or night. I would also like to say a big thank you to all the carers that knew my dad, especially the night carer and day carers that were there for his last hours and also for being there for me. Yet again, thank you so so much for everything you have done for my dad, it was a pleasure to know he was happy. Thank you again.
My mother has been a resident of Cheriton Care Home for just over a year and despite her dementia and now severe frailty she is very well cared for from personal care to medication. The team are all wonderful and it very much feels like a home for residents and family when we visit. I am very reassured as the team call me with any issues and as I don't live locally and they are aware of this and keep me updated. My mother had a room upstairs, when this became unsafe for her they moved her to another room which is more suitable for her needs. All staff are very helpful and work very hard for my mother to remain comfortable and her care needs are regularly assessed. All staff and the manager are very approachable and I am so very appreciative of their hard work and the care they give, I am so very pleased that my mother is at Cheriton, thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for her. Thank you.
My mother has been in the Cheriton Care Home for approximately three years and I feel compelled to write and give a review of the Cheriton Home and its staff. Firstly, I should add that my mother is 99 years of age, blind but is in the last stages of her life. The new manager is very approachable and will always try to make changes to enhance the care of the service user. Staff try very hard to offer a good service and it always comes with a smile and a chat making the service user feel valued. They have a variety of activities during the week - my mother always tries to have her hair and nails done - so a bit of pampering goes a long way. My mother gets excellent care and as a family, we are glad that she is at the Cheriton. With the manager and the love and hard work from the staff in place, we have an understanding that the care will continue to get better and better. Thank you Cheriton - your hard work and dedication are greatly appreciated.
Mum went into Cheriton Care Home just before Easter. The care she received was outstanding. All the team were lovely and Mum thought she was staying in a hotel, it was so nice. Nothing was too much trouble for the team. Sadly, Mum was in palliative care and has recently died. The team were very supportive and when I look back, I feel her last days were in a lovely setting.
Mum thoroughly enjoyed her stay in this home. Her room was lovely and comfortable and the staff were so caring. The manager was super efficient too. The food was superb. The home was also very secure so I knew my mum was safe. The gardens are lovely too. It was nice that Mum had a device to request assistance at any time. She was also supported with her medications. A lovely home that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a care home for their relative.
My uncle decided at Christmas that it was time for him to move into a residential care setting. This was a big step for him and for us. I cannot praise the staff at Cheriton Care Home enough, from the first conversation to my most recent visit. A genuine interest in my uncle has been shown: staff have made him feel welcome, taken time to get to know him and supported him through the transition from independent living. He is settled and happy and the twinkle in his eye has returned. He has a good rapport with staff members and they look after him well. For me, it is such a relief and I have peace of mind. It is my uncle’s birthday soon and I cannot be there so they have arranged for me to record a birthday message so that he hears my voice on the day. We are three months in and I am full of appreciation.
Dad has been a resident in Cheriton Care Home since May 2022 and settled into his new home extremely well. Dad is living with dementia and has a number of other health issues. His room and the facilities are excellent. We visit at least twice a week and we have always found all the care staff to be kind, polite and attentive. Dad is a coeliac and the team ensures his meals are suitably prepared. The care team leaders are knowledgeable and are always keen to make sure his care plan is appropriate and up to date. It is very reassuring knowing that Dad is safe and well looked after.
My uncle went into this place for two weeks respite with a view to helping him with mobility issues. Within four days he had a bad fall which was unreported and we were not informed about. He was in considerable pain and had extensive bruising on his back, this was to be the standard for his time in this Home. In the end, another fall led to a webcam link service where he was monitored via a web link. The operator was on the ball and got him taken into hospital, for which I was grateful. My uncle didn’t get to do two weeks there. His medication was given at erratic times, even though the Home had been informed that he always took his tablets at 07.00. Once while I was there his medication was given at 11.30! When I questioned this I was told that it was because the new member of staff was doing her drug training. We had raised a couple of health concerns over the week but were fobbed off with excuses and we were so relieved that our uncle was taken into hospital.
I am very happy with Cheriton, their care and understanding of my friend is second to none. The staff are caring and attentive. and the food always smells very nice. He has been in Cheriton for nearly four years and I wouldn't dream of moving him.
Moving a family member into a residential home is a difficult time but the staff at Cheriton Care Home eased the way with their professional and caring approach. My mother was made to feel welcome and valued from our first visit and her needs continue to be assessed and provided for in an ongoing way. Although she can be shy and reluctant to participate in the many and varied daily activities, members of staff try to encourage her, while still allowing her the independence to make her own decisions. Following an unwitnessed fall, a risk assessment was immediately carried out, leading to Mum's room being re-arranged to cater for her decreasing mobility. I found this proactive approach impressive. As I live over 200 miles away, it has been reassuring to see the manner in which she is looked after by all the amazing staff at Cheriton, knowing she is safe and in an environment where she is surrounded by such friendly, caring professionals.
What can I say? The team were so welcoming and supportive from day one and even after my grandma passed away. My grandma came originally for some respite but it soon became her home and she settled in very quickly. My mum and I can't thank the team enough. They always had a smile on their face, happy to engage with us face to face or by telephone. No concerns or issues were ever an issue. My grandma was cared for even to her final hours which has given us, as a family, so much comfort during our grieving time. My dog was always made welcome which made visiting Grandma even more special.
When I visited this home, I saw how happy the residents were. I was impressed by the friendliness of all of the staff that I met. I was not able to visit my mother-in-law due to Covid but my husband did and said she always appeared well cared for.
We found the carers to be very attentive and caring towards both our mother and ourselves despite being very short-staffed. We were all treated with great kindness during our mother's final few days by staff and management. We were disappointed with the state Mum's clothes were returned from the laundry.
Dad has had great care by the staff. They have gone out of their way to facilitate visits, and the family particularly appreciate their willingness to care for him in a calm, quiet and caring environment in his last days. Everyone has been professional throughout the whole time of his stay.
Very polite, asked if I require a drink. Mother has just moved in; she's very comfortable.
Sadly after almost four years of caring for my husband of 90, who suffers with Alzheimer's and dementia, I was unable to cope with his needs i.e. falling and difficulty in walking, but I am so grateful to have found dedicated carers and support staff at Cheriton (which is within half a mile of our home - which means I can walk to visit him) who make this world a better place. He has settled in even better than I could have hoped for. Thank you.
My aunt is being treated at all times with kindness and dignity. She is cared for in a safe, homely environment and the staff are always friendly. Communication is always very good. My aunt loves the food!
The staff at Cheriton Care Home are kind and friendly. There is a happy atmosphere at the home and the residents are treated with care and their dignity and feelings are respected. My mother has been a resident there for a year and she enjoys the activities provided and she feels at home there.
