View Full Details of Damfield GardensOur mum has been a resident at Damfield Gardens for 4 years now, and we feel that this is a good care home. Mum's care is good, the staff work extremely hard to look after her and if we have any concerns they act as quickly as possible to sort problems. We know it would have been much harder to access medical help for Mum if she'd been living at home. It's true that a number of staff left to work for a new unit that opened in a local hospital, but that was a one-off event, new staff have been recruited, but there are some staff who have been there for a while and who know Mum well. She is loved and cared for by the staff and we know she's in the best place for her.
My Mum has been a member of the Damfield Gardens family for almost 4 years now and, in that time, I have nothing but praise for the care she has received from the outstanding staff. This year has been particularly difficult as serious health issues have made it impossible for me to visit my mother but the staff at Damfield Gardens have been a lifeline. Not only have they kept me updated on how my Mum's doing but I have also received several calls checking up to see how I am! Knowing that my Mum is in such a loving environment where her best interests are always put first, has made it possible for me to concentrate on my own recovery. I am looking forward to going to visit her shortly for her 99th birthday!
At the recent Summer Fayre, I was disappointed to see my mother sitting in the lounge, which can be stuffy, (yes I know the temperature is always warm), but I was hoping to see her outside enjoying the fresh air in the garden. If I hadn't visited that day I honestly believe she would not have got out. She particularly enjoys live music entertainment. Whilst I understand that there are not enough carers/staff, to take residents on a one-to-one basis, I believe she could have been taken out if for a short time.
Mum is looked after very well by Damfield Gardens. She is very happy there. A shout out to the staff who are caring and put themselves out to do lots of activities. The Wild West fair particularly was well organised and a fantastic afternoon. They have extracurriculars going on all the time. Mum has lots of needs which are all met. The home managers keep in touch with me all the time and I would highly recommend this for your loved one. She says the desserts are lovely too all homemade. Can't fault it.
Mum became a resident at Damfield Gardens in the summer of 2023. After initially having a previous bad experience at a different nursing home, as a family we had our concerns over Mum's placement at Damfield Gardens. Mum had a couple of trigger points for her anxiety which were identified by the staff, and positive measures were put into place quickly and efficiently to ensure that she settled well. The staff have been brilliant with Mum, she is happy, well cared for, and in a safe environment. She has enjoyed lots of activities that regularly take place. Knowing that Mum is in such good hands has given us enormous reassurance and peace of mind.
My mum has been a resident at Damfield for approx 15 months. She has dementia and is very confused and upset, crying most days. This hasn't changed in the whole period she has been there. She has had great difficulty settling in and doesn't like to mix with other residents. There have been a number of occasions she has been admitted to hospital due to falls or other medical reasons. The staff are very caring and helpful, especially the entertainment ladies who my mum feels really happy with and they always try and include her in everything. My concern is the turnover of carers. The residents, especially on the top floor, I feel need more stability of happy, helpful, familiar faces. Every day my sister and I visit, there are different agency staff who are not familiar with the needs of my mum or the other residents and are relying on 1 permanent member of staff to tell them what is needed. In 2023 a lot of the permanent carers left within weeks of each other! I'm not sure what the problem is.
Having had to make the most difficult decision being told Mum needed 24-hour care I researched Damfield Gardens and was not disappointed. The place is beautiful and kept spotlessly clean, I immediately felt a warm homely, like family vibe from both staff and residents and I immediately knew this place was perfect. Mum's room is beautiful overlooking the gardens and is always kept clean. I had a lot of breakdowns whilst visiting Mum adjusting to her not being home but I can honestly say the staff (team) comforted me, reassured me and made me feel like I was also part of the care they give. I've been given so much advice on how to deal with Mum's issues and I truly am so lucky that Mum is where she is. I have observed how much care and compassion they give to the residents. My mum is absolutely adored by all the staff, they are an amazing team and I know she is safe, loved and cared for and is happy. Thank you so much for taking great care of Mum. You are all, every one of you, incredible!
During the first lockdown I had to make the hardest decision, the time had come to find a dementia home for my mum, Damfield Gardens Care Home was recommended. Leaving her at the door was heartbreaking but the staff welcomed her with open arms. In the time Mum has been a resident she has been well looked after, cared for and well-fed. The staff are caring and professional even during the recent unprecedented times (Covid and staff shortages). The management team are approachable and nothing seems to be too much trouble. Her room is always clean and the laundry staff are to be applauded for the mammoth task they take on each day. The staff work hard to keep all the residents stimulated with various activities and themed days. The families are always kept up to date via emails and Zoom meetings. Caring is not just a job it's a vocation.
I am very pleased with the care my mother has received at this home. They have helped her to settle in and have looked after her extremely well. The staff are very friendly and kind and keep me well informed.
My mum has been at Damfield Gardens for 18 months. Although we wished she could stay at home, unfortunately, she needed 24-hour care and we looked to find the best place we could for her. At Damfield Gardens, she has been looked after really well. The staff and carers are very pleasant and friendly and happy to answer any questions we might have, they serve home cooked excellent food and encourage her to take part in activities. My mum always had her hair done once a week at the hairdressers and she has been able to carry on with this as they have a salon on site with a hairdresser coming in twice a week. She always liked to look nice and this has helped keep her morale up along with looking at and walking around the garden with staff and visitors.
My mum has been in Damfield Gardens for over 3 years. It was a hard decision to make when my mum needed a care home. But it was the best decision I made for my mum and the family. I cannot fault Damfield Gardens or the staff. After 3 years I feel they know me personally and most importantly they are 100% dedicated to my mum's care. 5 stars.
My mum moved into Damfield Gardens about three months ago, I couldn’t wish for a better place for my mum. The anxiety of putting someone you love into care is a step no one wants to face. My mum couldn’t walk after being in hospital after a fall so going back to her flat was not an option. Damfield Gardens took away that anxiety, my mum settled in very quickly. The staff are amazing and caring and have the residents care at the forefront of their minds. The food is excellent. My mum loves her food and looks forward to her meals. They have activities to stimulate the residents and a garden that is beautiful to go outside when the weather is good. Her room has a patio door where she can sit outside or open for fresh air. I could not wish for a better place. So much so that I have told my kids that’s where I want to go if and when I reach that stage!
My mother spent almost three years in this care home, with increasing dementia, before passing away in February. The last twelve months have been especially tough due to Covid-19. Throughout her time in the Care Home, mum received the very best of care and the staff were wonderful with her; they became ‘family’. I cannot praise the management and staff too highly and what they achieved over the last year is incredible under very difficult circumstances. Moving a loved one into care is always tough, but I have no regrets about choosing Highpoint Damfield. At the end of mum’s life, the staff were brilliant with her and with me. A big thank you to them all.
We recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to move Dad into residential care. Due to COVID restrictions, this was not an easy decision to make but the staff at Damfield Gardens have made us feel at ease and have been so attentive. We cannot thank them enough.
My mum has been at Damfield Gardens since November 2018 and what can I say? The professionalism of the staff, the care they take of her (both mentally and emotionally) and the trust she has in them give us immense reassurance that the hardest decision my family has ever had to make has been the right one for her. Particularly in this extremely difficult COVID-19 times, the home has put the health and wellbeing of the residents and staff at the forefront of their daily lives – as a family, we will forever be grateful.
My father was a resident at Damfield Gardens, where he recently passed away. The manner in which this difficult situation was dealt with was exceptional. Dad was shown such care and dignity in his last few days and every effort was made to ensure that he was as comfortable as he could be. As a family, we were also shown kindness and compassion. Thank you to all staff for your help and support. It meant so much.
Mum has been a resident for over 18 months. In that time myself (or my brother) has had no cause for serious complaint. Any small blips have been always sorted out promptly. The staff make this home a real home, their warmth and care is evident every day and I have never seen or heard from any member of staff any sign of disrespect which at times is a difficult situation. I am so glad we decided on Damfield Gardens for Mum and I thank God every day!
I had to make the hardest decision to look for a care home for my mother and after an extensive and exhaustive search and visits, I chose Damfield Gardens and boy what a home! The staff and manager are lovely, they can't do enough for my mum and me. They've made me feel happy and that my mum is safe and very well looked after. I thoroughly recommend this home.
My dad was in Damfield Gardens for approx 18 months suffering from Vascular Dementia. During his time there the staff were tremendous, they interact brilliantly with the residents and attend to their needs when needed. The standard of the rooms are excellent, and all the fittings, etc are to the highest standard. The home itself is kept extremely clean and tidy. All staff were extremely helpful and courteous at all times, can't praise them enough.
My mother was resident at Damfield from June 2018 to February 2019. She was suffering from vascular dementia and displayed some challenging symptoms. I found the caring provided by the staff to be excellent. There will always be challenges with a room full of elderly residents with varying types and stages of dementia. I was constantly impressed by the effort the staff put into caring for these vulnerable people.
