View Full Details of Darcy House Care HomeSince my mother moved into Darcy House in the autumn of 2024, she has received excellent care and attention from everyone involved at the home. Everybody is extremely attentive to my mother's needs, both medical and social, and it has been a great reassurance and relief to my brothers, myself and our wider family, that she is in a place where there is always someone keeping an eye out for her to ensure that she can move around freely but safely. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, no matter how busy they already are. Being a new building, Darcy House is a bright, spacious and thoroughly wonderful home for my mother and, in my opinion, all of the other residents too. I would recommend it to anyone who is concerned that a relative or friend needs to move somewhere in order to live safely and with dignity.
A clean, modern facility with superb views. Rooms are spacious and well appointed and shared areas are large and comfortable. The staff are professional, caring people and nothing is too much trouble. They've made my parents (and anyone who visits them) feel welcome. Would recommend to anyone seeking a care home.
Darcy house is a lovely warm caring place for residents and a very welcoming place for relatives and visitors. The staff are professional and knowledgeable about each individual resident's needs and take time to get to know and spend quality time with them. They are always respectful when talking to relatives about issues or just simply relaying what activities the resident has been taking part in and how they engaged and enjoyed it. Nothing is too much trouble for them. If we mention a requirement, we find it has been acted upon promptly. Staff are all friendly, and with a good amount of humour, keep the place a positive one to visit and live in. They all seem very happy in their work. We enjoy visiting, always a pleasant positive experience. Thank you all at Darcy!
I am very happy here considering I was sad to leave my own home and I have only stayed here for two weeks today. It's very early to say much as it is early days. Everyone is very kind and helpful - all the staff during day and night. It is difficult sometimes to get a shower when I want one. The food is excellent, love having my hair done. Room and leisure rooms beautiful and clean. The facilities are very good especially for family and friends visiting. Have already enjoyed listening to singers, a man playing his guitar. When I arrived I had so much help to please me. The laundry is excellent.
Very supportive staff - careful attention to the needs of residents. Regular medical updates. Follow procedures very carefully. Reactive support. Lovely rooms and setting. Mum seems calm and content in your care.
Fantastic purpose-built modern building in beautiful surroundings. Light and spacious throughout with the resident's own room, big enough to create a lovely home. The decor and furnishings are of a quality second to none. On the visits I've made there's always been a warm friendly greeting. So much care is given to treating each resident as an individual catering for all different needs in a respectful manner without being patronising. The meals are amazing and presented in a way that shows the importance of mealtimes being such a social occasion between the residents and staff. When you see everyone with smiles on their faces, it's a pleasure to visit.
The care at Darcy House is outstanding. Since my dad moved here from another home he is a completely different man so much happier. Every member of staff has welcomed him, taken the time to get to know him, and keep him stimulated with relevant interests. The home is in a beautiful setting and feels like a 5* hotel and the level of care is also 5*! They are very experienced in dementia care. It is so comforting to know he is experiencing the very best care. If you are looked for somewhere for a relative - don't look any where else, Darcy truly is the best in its field. They couldn't have done any more for my dad but also for me.
Lovely modern home, my mother has views over the Derwent valley from her room. All the staff (including Managers, Carers, Cleaners, Chefs) appear to be well versed in their roles and very friendly. The activities have been mainly indoors since my mother started in the home although the staff will take the residents out to the gardens when the weather is appropriate and organise trips to local towns/attractions as well. All in all we have been very impressed with the home and staff and my mother has settled in well. We particularly like to go and have a coffee in the café when visiting Mum
A friendly, polite team of carers and other staff. My partner needs a lot of care more than perhaps other residents. He has a lovely room and bathroom and he really enjoys his shower. Because of his disabilities, there are no activities at the moment that he can participate in, so he is left on his own quite a lot. Meal times he seems to be on his own. Although the food is beautifully prepared and served, it is not always the sort of food older people enjoy like mashed potatoes etc (cottage pie for example)
We found Darcy House extremely welcoming and caring. The surroundings are really spectacularly good. The views and outside spaces are lovely. My mother was a little nervous to begin with but the staff made her feel at home. The food was great and the interest from the chef was really good part of her 5 star preference.
My husband's respite care in July in Darcy House in Matlock was marvellous. He was one of the 1st residents and the welcome was out of this world with balloons and a tape to cut to open the building. The surroundings, views and gardens are beautiful and the facilities are fantastic in an amazing building. But the home's most important quality was the excellent care and attention to detail in a calm, friendly and reassuring atmosphere. My husband loved the food and praised the chef. For me as his wife, it was important to know he was safe and being looked after 24/7. The respite gave me a chance to recharge my batteries and I noticed straight away an improvement in my husband's mobility and general well-being. Thanks to the amazing caring staff. I have already booked again.
My father moved to Darcy House to be nearer to his family, but leaving his own home and friends a long way away. I had concerns about this and about him moving to a care home as he is very fit for his age, but following the death of my mother, he wanted to have more support in his daily life. He has settled into Darcy House extremely well and loves his balcony! His room is spotless and he has made it his own with things from his old house. The staff have been absolutely brilliant in helping him settle in, organising medical appointments and a new bus pass! They are unfailingly friendly and positive and he says he is so glad he chose to live at Darcy House. I cannot fault their kindness and helpfulness. Thank you!
My mum moved into Darcey House on 16 July 2024. It felt like I was sending a small child to boarding school. Any worries I may have had disappeared overnight. The building is designed to a very high standard. Mum's room is modern, clean and homely as she has some of her own things in there too. A lot of thought has gone into interior design so that it doesn't look or feel like a residential home. The views from the lounge areas are outstanding. Staff are on hand at a moment's notice to tend to her needs and are respectful and friendly. They have got to know mum very well. The food is prepared on-site to a very high standard. I joined her for lunch today and was extremely impressed with the quality of the food. Well-balanced and very tasty. Mum still likes to get about, and the indoor and outside space is safe and staff are on hand to help her every step of the way. She is happy so I am more than happy. A decision well made.
