View Full Details of Dukes Court Care Home - Avery HealthcareI am extremely disappointed with the treatment my vulnerable 86 year old mother received at Dukes court care home. On 21st December 2024, the care home took my confused and vulnerable mother to hospital and abandoned her there without any family present. On 26th December 2024, the hospital declared my mother fit to return to Dukes Court, but the care home refused to take her back. To add insult to injury I arranged for £100 spending money to be transferred to my mothers account each month, the final amount left my mothers bank account on 30th December 2024 On 27th January 2025 I emailed the home to request that money back, on 27th February 2025 the £100 has still not been transferred back to her account. I feel deeply let down by the way Dukes Court handled my mothers care and would strongly advise others to reconsider placing their loved ones in this facility. Compassion, patience and understanding should be the foundation of any care home - unfortunately, we did not find that here.
From my first visit I always found the staff very caring and kind, and they looked after my friend very well indeed. After she had been in hospital she had lost 1 1/2 stone, within a few weeks of tempting food she is back to full health. A big thing with me is smell. No smell in this home, its clean, bright and warm. All residents are happy and I always get a warm welcome.
The continuity of staff at Dukes Court Care Home is impressive and makes a huge difference to mum's care as they truly know her well. They also listen and act immediately on any issues/concerns. They have an open door policy which is great but they have also offered 1:1 face or online meetings to discuss the care and welfare of mum, which was greatly appreciated.
I cannot praise Dukes Court enough for their continuing care of my father. He is happy, exceptionally well cared for and the staff at the home are outstanding. They treat every resident with dignity and compassion and are always on hand to talk to. We are so lucky that we found Dukes Court.
Mum is unable to live at home whilst I am on holiday. Dukes Court offers respite care which suits our needs very well. Mum is happy to stay as often as necessary and enjoys her time there. We refer to mum's stay as holiday time for her.
Dad enjoyed his birthday recently, as a family we were celebrating and made very welcome to use the dining room to have a private little party of cake and tea, and the following day he had another big birthday cake presented by the staff and careers, which put a big cheery smile on dads face, a big thank you from us in taking care, and always going the extra mile on these occasions.
My dad has been at Dukes court now for 18 months and I couldn't wish for him to be in a better home. The staff are all amazing and the care is outstanding. They have an amazing well being team who provide a range of activities for the residents and dad is so happy and settled and they all meet his needs so well. The manager is amazing very approachable and will support me as well which is a big help. The food is lovely and such a great range and the residents have a choice which is good. The home is kept so clean and tidy and I can't praise them enough for all they do for dad. Dads room is more like a hotel than a room and makes it very home from home which is brilliant. I know dad is safe and well cared for and I couldn't ask for any more.
The carers do their jobs very well no worries there, look after mum very well, gets her medicines on time, the only problem is that mum can get annoyed as she gets frustrated because of her eyes otherwise everything is good and she is in the right place as needs 24 care which I can't give.
Dukes Court has a lovely welcoming feel and a high standard of decor and furnishings. The rooms are well furnished mostly with a good outlook. The majority of the long term staff are very efficient and caring. My father was here 3 years ago until he died with Alzheimer's and was extremely well cared for. My mother has been here for over a year. Unfortunately since the flood on the ground floor, and her being moved to the first floor, standards have dropped considerably. The carers are friendly but very haphazard and casual with their approach. The meals and service are inferior, often served late and cold plus either over or under cooked. And yes, the fees have increased. Very much looking forward to the ground floor reopening and hopefully my mother returning to the experience we signed up for and feeling happy again.
We are so pleased with the care the home provides. All the staff are amazing the care they show each and every person is outstanding. The staff are always approachable at every level and the manager is hands on too. The home gives us peace of mind that my father in law is looked after. The wellbeing staff have a full time timetable of activities each week and watching the residents enjoying them is the best. Other family members have visited the home and were so impressed . We give the home 10 out of 10 .
Mum has been a full-time resident at Dukes Court for 6 months. She has dementia. Mum has been well looked after and her needs are fully met. She's content to be there. The staff are amazing. I can't express how highly I think of them from the lovely lady who brings the tea trolley round, to the carers, the nurses, the admin staff and the managers. They are friendly, welcoming, supportive. I'm kept up to date with anything concerning mum. There's a lively buzz to the atmosphere and the staff responsible for entertainment ensure there's always something interesting that mum can join in with if she chooses to do so. As for myself, I have found the process of my mum needing to be in a care home very difficult and emotional. The managers have really helped me with the complications of arranging a deferred payment plan, as we try to sell mum's property. This is something I knew nothing about but the staff have been really helpful and I appreciate that. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dukes Court.
The staff are wonderful. There are many staff that have been there for the last six years, so excellent staff retention. The decor is a little tired in places and could be more vibrant, but the home is clean and warm. The food is of a reasonable standard. The garden area is small and more could be done to enhance this area.
I have been at Dukes Court Care home for nearly 4 years. I have been very happy with the management and carers and the facilities and services.
I am very impressed with Dukes Court and cannot praise enough the care that my mum and stepdad are receiving. The decor is lovely and everywhere is clean. The food looks lovely. There is a varied menu with a choice for each course. Snacks and drinks are always available. The well-being team are amazing. There are varied activities every day, both indoors and outside in the garden. It is great that they post photos and videos on social media daily. It's so lovely to see all the smiling faces!
My dad came to Dukes Court for respite and loved it so much that he is now a permanent resident. The staff are very friendly and caring. I love visiting my dad as the home is so friendly and there is such a lovely atmosphere there. The staff do a great job and make the home the success it is. I am so glad my dad is here.
This is our first experience of a care home on a personal level. As we are getting older we have visited various relatives of friends in care facilities and find this far superior to any we have visited. I also feel the staff and management are happy and cheerful and this this goes a long way in the way residents feel and deal with their own problems.
Dad is always well cared for, and the staff are very kind. However, the continual price increases are unwelcome and too often, especially when to go up over £100 per week.
Staff are always cheerful and attentive, and my father is very happy staying at Dukes Court.
I am very happy about all at Dukes Court, with the support and caring at Dukes Court from the carers.
Dukes Court is a wonderful home for mum. The facilities and food are excellent and there are always lots of interesting things to join in, arranged by the Wellbeing Team. The main benefit of Duke's Court are the excellent staff they are hardworking and caring and are genuine friends to mum which gives us peace of mind that she is very happy and very well cared for. Thank you!
