View Full Details of Hawkhurst HouseMy mother was in Hawkhurst House for over 4 years. She was treated with care, dignity and respect at all times throughout her decline. Every single member of staff was warm and welcoming - from cleaners, cooks, care staff, nurses and management. Each would take the time to talk to mum when passing her room. The care staff are arranged in cohorts, so mum knew them all very well. They were like family to her in her later years. This is a huge improvement on care homes that have ever-changing carers on rotas. I was kept up-to-date on mum's care and progress at all times, and management were always available for a quick chat if I had questions. The management is very hands-on, not tucked away in a distant office. The activities team do their utmost to engage residents, and there is always something interesting going on. Visiting was always a pleasure in a lovely environment, and the in-house coffee and cakes were a lovely treat when mum was no longer able to travel in a car with us.
On the whole, a very good standard of care.
A caring place that provides consistently good quality attention to my declining mother-in-law.
Both my parents came to Hawkhurst House requiring different needs. Each has received personalised care to a high standard. The staff are kind, courteous and very willing to discuss any issues. It is always a pleasure to visit, despite the declining health of my mother. Communication is good with managerial staff as well as with the cleaners, cooks, night staff.
My uncle and aunt have been at Hawkhurst House for around 2 1/2 years and during their time there they have been well cared for by all the staff. My wife and family, etc have all been made to feel very welcome. We have been made most welcome at barbecues and other events which has created a lovely atmosphere in the home. I wish to thank all those dedicated carers for their super care to all who step through the door.
I have visited Hawkhurst House on many occasions in recent years to visit my sister's parents-in-law and on every occasion, I have been so impressed by this wonderful care home. The staff are so friendly and couldn't be more caring and kind - they are amazing and build up such lovely relationships with the people they care for. Hawkhurst House is impeccably clean. It is bright and welcoming with spacious bedrooms and communal areas - as well as the beautiful terrace and gardens and residents can join in activities with others or find a quiet corner to enjoy a book in peace. When visiting my friend, I joined in a group chair exercise class and was most impressed with it and also what fun it was! I have had experience of other care homes and Hawkhurst House far exceeds these in every way - offering such a high quality of care in a wonderful environment. I would like to say thank you to all the staff (and also to my sister's dear parents-in-law) for making my visits so uplifting.
I am exceedingly grateful to all the staff for looking after my mother with wonderful care and expertise. Her smile when arriving back from a visit to the hospital was indicative of her relief at being 'home' among the staff she adores. Absolutely top marks and a huge thank you.
Hawkhurst House has looked after my father-in-law and mother-in-law for nearly 3 years (the former died 18 months ago, but the latter is still resident). I cannot fault the kind, careful and affectionate care they receive(d). The premises are light, airy and clean, and there is plenty to do, including using the lovely garden and greenhouse. Thank you to the wonderful staff.
The chef was caught giving multiple pieces of mouldy bread to my dad and the other residents. This is a hygiene notice, please sort this problem out or we will go further with this matter!
Very happy with the care that my Father is receiving in this lovely environment. They are friendly and welcoming to visitors and appear to have genuine relationships with the residents. The living quarters are spotless and the gardens are well-maintained and attractive.
Hawkhurst House has looked after my mother for more than a year now. The staff have always been understanding of the needs and wishes of their residents. Always cheerful and welcoming. The house is well-designed and has plenty of space, the rooms are easy to live in, clean and well-kept. Managers are kept aware of individual circumstances and support their staff and residents.
My mother lost her mobility following a fall & 7 weeks in hospital moving to Hawkhurst House in December2022. The home was welcoming & friendly, from reception & management to all the staff on the "shop floor" & my mother stayed there until she passed away in May 2023. Care was delivered with compassion, dignity & kindness. The home provided an excellent birthday tea for her and us as a family in the April to celebrate her 104th birthday. We were able to make my mother's room more personal with her paintings on the walls & we were able to make tea in her room on our visits. Without exception the staff were always willing to help and all appeared to enjoy their work. The end of life care was excellent and we were given the privacy that we appreciated so much at that time. I have no hesitation in recommending Hawkhurst House to others searching for a caring place for a loved one.
This care home has everything needed to keep the residents safe and happy. Lovely people run it, and work there, always pleased to see us wherever we visit. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff when we are there - tea and coffee are on offer.
My mother arrived at Hawkhurst House on 21st September 2021 and passed away on 28th February 2022. During her time at Hawkhurst House, she received superb care and understanding from both staff and management. The assistance I received when she first arrived and also when she passed was excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending Hawkhurst House.
My mother has resided in Hawkhurst House since March 2019. Thankfully she settled in before the pandemic struck! After not being able to visit this time last year and with the current Covid numbers rising again I wasn't sure if Hawkhurst House would allow this year's Christmas party to go ahead as planned. After a lot of careful planning, they did allow it to go ahead still, setting up tables in each of the residents' rooms. All the staff went above and beyond to ensure that a great day was had by all. They had to do this two days on the trot as the two floors celebrated separately. I am so grateful to everybody involved, not only for allowing the celebrations to go ahead in the first place but also for allowing more memories to be made with our loved ones, something, sadly we didn't get the chance to do last year. A huge thank you goes to one and all.
My mum has been very happy and settled at Hawkhurst House. There have been a few issues, but these have been sorted out professionally. The staff have been incredible throughout Covid and Mum clearly adores them. They are kind, considerate and loving. The home is beautiful and always clean. It never smells. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and their dedication. I feel lucky to have found Hawkhurst House.
My family and I have been very impressed with the facilities, level of care and general, overall package that my mother has received since arriving at Hawkhurst House.
My father went into Hawkhurst House for 'end of life' care. In the few months he was there he was treated with absolute kindness, dignity and compassion throughout. The staff were also incredibly supportive of the family and they kept us in touch with Dad's condition. Whilst Dad was well enough, he was able to enjoy his meals - often with us - in the lounge or his room, participate in the entertainment and very important to him, to get a decent haircut. His room was light and spacious, overlooking the garden. The home is modern and immaculately clean. In Dad's final days, the nurses (who are absolutely phenomenal) kept him comfortable and pain-free but not 'drugged' so he was aware of us being with him and was even laughing at us the day before he passed away. Every member of staff is key to the success of HH - they were all, without exception, fantastic. Also, it is significant that staffing levels do not drop during the night or weekends as they do in other care homes.
My wife was dying of cancer and was admitted to the Hawkhurst Care home in May 2019. From the outset, the care and compassion showed to her was phenomenal. The management, nurses and Carers were at the very top of their profession. Her own GP was able to visit her and to maintain a dialogue with the resident nurses about what treatment was best for her. I would not hesitate to recommend the Hawkhurst House care home to anyone needing that special care and attention which makes the resident feel that this is their own home. Likewise, when the end came, the help given to me as her husband was more than just sympathy, it was guidance as well.
I arrived desperate for help for my mother and within 48 hours all was sorted. The manager scooped us all up. Everything was made as easy and convenient for us as possible. During the 6 weeks my mother was resident, the wonderful care staff went out of their way to get to know her. At the end of her life, they were so attentive and loving. The nursing staff put in the effort to co-ordinate GP/hospice/medical care. They held and supported my mother, my sister and I to the end.
